Betsy Palmer Reveals BIG What's My Line? Secret!

Betsy Palmer reveals a BIG secret from the classic CBS TV panel show What's My Line? with TV Time Machine host Jim Benson.
For nine years, Betsy Palmer was a panelist on the CBS TV show I've Got a Secret but occasionally filled in for Arlene Francis and Dorothy Kilgallen during their rare sabbaticals from What's My Line? Both What's My Line? and I've Got a Secret were conceived by legendary game show producers Mark Goodson and Bill Todman.
After I've Got a Secret left the airwaves, Betsy Palmer continued to appear on TV game shows and movies, and is probably best known for playing Jason Voorhees's mother in the classic 1980 horror film, Friday the 13th.
What's My Line? aired from 1950-67 and was a Sunday night fixture for CBS. Hosted by newsman John Daly, the question-and-answer show attempted to glean the occupations of ordinary people and a famous mystery guest featured panelists that included TV and movie personality Arlene Francis, newspaper columnist Dorothy Kilgallen, publisher Bennett Cerf, TV personality Steve Allen, and comedian Fred Allen.

Betsy Palmer was a wonderful panelist and even if What's My Line? was the longest running panel show, I've Got A Secret was the highest rated...it was even in the top 10 for a couple of years and part of that was due to the charm of Betsy Palmer.
Fun fact: I remember reading that Betsy took the role of Jason's mother in Friday The Thirteenth because she needed money to get her car fixed (I think it was a Jaguar)

Yes, Betsy wasn't the biggest fan of Friday the 13th intially--but changed her mind years later.

Is it possible to find people who could conduct themselves as well as those folks to remake the show? I think not. I watched as a youngster and it filled in some terrible times. My notion of societal classes was not based necessarily on money. Can you figure out why?
