    I've been telling people for years that the mid nineties to mid 2000's was the best time for metal (that doesn't mean it was everyone's favorite kind of metal although I was and am a Numetal kid for life). We were competing right along side the biggest pop artists and rappers and were never more a part of the mainstream culture than ever before as well as having loads of bands that were completely original especially when it came to vocalists. I feel like 2000 (arguably 2010 too) was the last "decade" as in you can look back through the decades and there are millions of original things that really set each decade apart Now it all just feels like more of the same without any real distinguishing features to make it stand out. The nineties and early 2000's were truly a special time. I know everyone thinks that their decade/s were the best and a case can surely be made for a lot of the 1900's-2000 but I feel like musical innovation is on life support these days. That's not to say bands aren't still making good music but like Chad said and how I've felt for a long time is that most bands now sound the same. I could put on a metal Playlist on random and for the most part think it was the same band and especially the same singer. Luckily we have bands like Jinjer, (newer) Falling in Reverse, and Slaughter to Prevail that are keeping the innovation going but they are few and farther in-between. I swear if I hear another heavy song with good screams that sounds decent up until the vocalist starts singing and their singing voice is all high pitched and or whiney I'm going to lose my isht. At some point into when Numetal shifted to Metalcore a lot of vocalist stopped having grit in their singing and started sounding like pop-punk vocalist or something. It offends my ears when every band and their grandmother sings the exact same way. Let your balls drop and sing dammit.

    I agree with Chad on new music. However, Mudvayne are clearly influenced by Korn too and they didn't come out 20 years before Mudvayne. But yeah, overall, I definitely agree.

      @Aenigmakil 7 месяцев назад

      @@sweepingdenial yeah, well we're not stupid, obviously KoRn's sound influenced Mudvayne. But Mudvayne definitely took the more "influenced by" over just copying like a lot of modern bands
