One One thing in this video that I especially like is that is was done in one shot, from one camera angle. So I could devote my attention to the music and performance of the pianist. Not of the cameraperson, the editor nor the director. Thanks. Greetings from from East Anglia in England
I'm listening to this in the early hours of the morning with a glass of red wine (or two). Nice! By the way, I appreciate the camera staying on the pianist's hands. This gives visual as well as auditory pleasure.
I have listened to all of his playing, and he has never missed a note. He is one of the best pianists of our time. And he also won first prize in this competition!
What a lovely performance, something to look up to. It's good to know that great players can play few wrong notes:)) anyone else spotted them in 16:52?
Robert Dearling wrote concerning the first movement's opening theme meeting the second subject "together they show a preoccupation with displaced accents that , in different circumstances might have been considered whimsical " .I do not understand. What circumstances ? More importantly , why must we approach classical music as if were all , without exception, profound and without humor?.The clash of themes is humorous, the insipid opening theme accented like it were the final notes of Ekectrs is as humorous as his treatment of bland and unoriginal variations., such as the Diabelli variations .If you don't hear the humor here in this performance try the interpretation of Steven Kovacevich, it will make you smile.Beethoven is frequently profound and spiritually uplifting, but here he shows himself completly human, whimsical even.Let's find humor where it exists. Let us recognize our classical gods as human- who walk among us and even laugh. Let's invite the young listeners to something other than pretentious, tortured interpretations. I feel for those who can not find humor in Mozart, who don't recognize the joy and humor that Beethoven frequently displays. I do not care to criticize this interpretation, every sincere attempt deserves our attention.i am just thinking , that for my taste, a more joyful interpretation is much more rewarding. Thank you for this post.0⁹
FAZIOLIの端正な音色と演奏が良くあって、バランスがとても良い。3回もきいてしまった。素晴らしい。FAZIOLI 's neat tones and performances are good, and the balance is very good. I listened three times. Great.
This raised my eyebrows too. But "has been" is past and does not necessarily mean ongoing. "Is" is present and does not necessarily include the past. To say what he meant correctly would have taken much more unnecessary verbiage, such as, "... has been held for ... and we hope it will continue in the future". If you think about it, although not grammatically correct, it expresses the meaning succintly. Let us not forget that languages evolve over time. Maybe this is an example. 😄
Trashing him without explicit criticism should be illegal or even libelous. I think it would be fine if I played this for you and you told me the same. Because it would be for cause. I would use too much pedal. It would be unclear and uneven. But I can still play it. I became a doctor instead of a concert artist. I thought Nehring played Rach 3 much too fast, and he was hard for the orchestra to follow and keep up with him. But that's explicit criticism. It was still perfectly even and accurate. I will never be even close as good as he is. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA) Retired surgeon
Devaluation and destruction seems to be an easy way, to get rid of a lack of self-esteem, but you should always be aware, that you hurt yourself even more than you have been hurt in the first place.
5:03 2nd movement, 15:21 3herd movement
Bravo!

amazing!.......the 2nd movement is a mini-piano bel canto opera.....beautiful!
Exactly. I sang it.
And this magnificent pianist won the top prize. If you have his Rach 3. it is here on youtube. He plays it so well, and correctly.

It's so good to hear the sound I want.
A delight to listen!
maravilhoso, estupenda interpretaçao
The third movement starts from 15:20
I don't know much about this piece's dynamics. But your playing sounds clean( at the right notes. Almost no split or lag) . Great Job!

Fun to listen to...
Go to McDonalds or Disneyland. There is FUN waitng for you.
Here, you have a magnificant, creative performance "only".
It's fun to listen to. Beethoven is famous for some of his humor, and this sonata has some great examples of it.
@@Viscamo Also who goes to McDonalds for fun? I go to eat food... was that seriously the first thing that came to mind?
THat's good!
So funny!

nice performance.
What's the meaning of the description "The competition has being held ..." - what language is this? this is not English...

So easy
Absolutely Terrible. Good Try young lad. He will be a great salad dresser in some kitchen one day.
And yet he won first prize in this competition.
