    Hi! I'm going to have the exact same procedure on December 28th. I was so happy to find someone with the same condition as I do. It is super helpful for me to see your recovery process and experience. Please keep posting! I'm an OT and a podiatric medical student.

      Hey there! I'm so glad these videos are helpful! I just posted another one so feel free to check it out! :) Best of luck with your upcoming surgery and please let me know if there's any videos you'd like me to make regarding any part of the experience. Looks like although in different stages of recovery, we'll be recovering through all of this together so I'm so appreciative you reached out and just know you aren't going through it all alone!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you! I so appreciate your videos on your surgery. My daughter is 18 and is seeing her surgeon on Jan 11, 2021 to discuss her PAO surgery with arthroscopic labral repair. It is a very scary surgery when you first start looking at it. I will be taking care of her as she is at home, doing online college through next May. Your videos have been very informative. Please keep updating your recovery! P.S. My son is also a medical student at University of Illinois, Peoria, Illinois! Thanks for all your sharing! Blessings, Pam

      Thanks so much for sharing, this made my day! Yes, even as a new doc I'd heard so little about PAO's and hip dysplasia being discovered in early adulthood and it was all such a shock. Your daughter is so blessed to have you helping her! This experience has brought my parents and I so much closer which I didn't even think was possible because we were already so close! haha. But I am so grateful for them because I never realized how much they were truly going to have to care for me post-operatively. If you want me to make any videos about my recovery with my parents including their own thoughts and tips about surgery recovery from their perspective please let me know! And best of luck to your daughter and her upcoming doctor's appt! Also let me know if there's any videos you'd like me to make about questions to ask your ortho surgeon at your pre-op appt because I'd be happy to do so :) & Aww yay congrats to your son! He may like some of my other videos about getting through med school and how to prep for residency so feel free to share some of them with him! :)

      @@DOCGIRLFITNESS yes please!!! I would love to know if your parents have any wisdom to share being your caregivers at the beginning. Things we should have on hand. And I would love to have some pointers on what to ask the doctor. Her first doctor will do her arthroscopic surgery for the joint (remove cysts and repair labrum). Then the second doctor, will step in and do the bone work. One of my questions: Is the PAO surgery just a bandaid for a future hip replacement or can this completely correct the hip dysplasia? Belle has had both labrums repaired, Dec 2017 and March 2018. Here we are 3 years later and she has been hurting since September 2018. She never seemed to recover from the second hip surgery. So we just hoped that over time she would recover but that didn’t happen and now we know why. Her loose hips has torn both labrums again. Such a bummer. So yes, any questions we should ask would be helpful. Thanks!!!

      Absolutely and thank you for your kind words! This whole thing really can be so up and down. Just found out I ran into some complications and I need a repeat surgery on the same hip next week, so I truly understand. We got this though! New video up talking about it all. #hiphiphooray

    Because I've had bilateral carpal tunnel release surgeries and my left hand was unsuccessful, I'm🙏🏼 I'll use a rolling walker instead of crutches.

      I loved the walker! I used it for the first 6 weeks and it took some getting used to but I enjoyed my mobility using it!

    Hello. I just had this same procedure. Except I didn’t have orthoscopic..I thank you for reminding me to spend more time with God. I am 10 days post op and so greatful that I am recovering slowly but still able to do some things. My day will always start with God as it did before my surgery. I can’t really do anything by myself yet. The walker definitely has my hands sore so I will try the ice. Husband has been a true blessing. I have my own business which is mostly done on social media. I want to update my followers so that they will know how I am doing. Just need to get a little more courage to do so. Any ideas on doing that. Please let me know. Thanks again. And may God continue to heal your body

      Thank you so much for watching! How has your recovery been? If you're interested in what my recovery looks like 2 years after my first hip surgery and 11 months after my revision surgery, make sure to check out this week's video which drops in an hour! As far as how to reach your followers on social media, I'd say go for it! Even at this point in your recovery, there are so few people who chronicle their journey, and I bet you could help so many with your perspective! I'd say film everything, document everything, etc in the moment as this makes it easier for compiling data rather than trying to remember it all after the fact. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery and I hope all is well!

    I wonder if you could use a knee scooter instead of other devices? I just found your channel I may be getting this surgery. Looking for encouragement because I have a 4 year old son. I have no idea how recovery will go with him. Thank you for you video

      So I thought about the knee scooter but personally was told the wheelchair, walker, and crutches were a better option for me! How are you doing now? I hope all is well and that if you did have the surgery, everything went smoothly. This community and myself are here for you! If you're interested in what my recovery looks like 2 years after my first hip surgery and 11 months after my revision surgery, make sure to check out this week's video which drops in 30 minutes! Fingers crossed for your speedy recovery and I hope all is well!

    What kind of chair is ideal for using at a sit stand desk during recovery and perhaps afterwards? I'm needing to prepare my main floor area to my post surgery needs, and because sitting has been so painful, I've been standing/leaning on my desk. How quickly can you comfortably eat at a regular table post surgery?

    • @DOCGIRLFITNESS
      @DOCGIRLFITNESS  2 года назад

      Hello! Just saw these excellent questions! In brief, I'll say I was able to sit at a regular table pretty early on because I would just sit at a dining table in my wheelchair and roll myself up to it! :) I was doing that a few days after I got out of the hospital. For the other question, about sit-stand desks, I unfortunately never got a chance to use anything like that, as I work in a hospital where I kind of have to just sit at whatever chair is available. those were mostly just regular rolling office chairs. I hope this helps! I just posted a FAQ's video answering my most frequently asked questions! :) If you have more questions and want me to answer them in another video, please let me know! :)

      Actually, no, it was this very regular loud ticking. I listened again a little while ago and still heard it. At the very beginning. Might be the music? The chimes are 🙂
      Anyway, enjoying your very thorough coverage of your surgery.
      (Did you say catheter??)
