Moved over from the Movie channel so this was recorded 6 months ago
I was about to say I swore I’ve seen y’all react to this before
I still have a lot to catch up with you two. Yes, the revolver was sent it the mail. Probably only about $ 5 US. This was long before you did you guns episode.
This is a great mini series. I don't remember how many times I saw it but I know I saw it when it was on HBO and again this year on Max
I've watched many of your clips now and I'd like to thank you both for the appreciation and heart felt respect you have for America and the history of sacrifice to hold onto freedom. Welcome to America friends 🎉
This series should be required viewing in all history classes for anyone over the age of 15.
And Saving Private Ryan!
The Pacific as well.
So should Mark Felton Productions
@krisfrederick5001 just found his channel in September, I don't think I've binged a channels videos as much as his haha incredible stuff
Here we go again with the greatest series!
I met Richard Winters at Newark Airport on his way back from Normandy. The series hadn’t come out yet. However, I had read a series of articles about E Company in the Newspapers and immediately recognized him. He was a soft spoken selfless man. Extremely friendly and humble. He had no idea he was becoming famous.
Interesting fact about Winters that gives a big idea as to why he was such a good leader...he enlisted in August of 1941 and completed training as an enlisted man, then he remained at the camp where he trained to help train other men after him. He was selected for Officer Candidate School in April 1942, and after he finished that training and became an officer in July 1942 he volunteered for the Airborne...so when we see him as a Platoon Leader in Easy, that is his third set of training that Winters is undergoing.
Fantastic package of knowledge. Thanks for dropping it for us.
One of the best, if not THE best series ever made. This will change your lives. Trust me.
THE BEST. To me
Thank you for taking on Band of Brothers. It is the best miniseries ever produced, by my estimation. The leadership of Lt. Winters is evident from the start. I love how he asks God to bless his men, and looks each in the eye as he helps them to their feet.
Not only did Winters help each guy to his feet, he looked them each dead in the eye as he pulled them to their feet.
Guys, Lt Winters is actually played by a British actor! Good American accent.
This is my favorite episode in some ways...if nothing else for the innocence. When Captain Sobel and "Army noodles with ketchup" were their biggest threats. While knowing what horror and death lies ahead. Be prepared to learn, laugh, grow and suffer with these characters men and women. Currahee! ♠
The old man on the bike will always be one of my favorite parts of the series. Again, the innocence.
I’ve seen a lot of shows… A LOT of shows. This is by far the best. I get a feeling no other show has ever given me, lots of goosebumps and emotional moments. Episode 10 is an absolute masterpiece, the previous 9 are simply great too.
One of the greatest mini-series Ever.
Simply incredible
Yep, my favorite HBO series.
Glad to see you youngsters studying history.
Welcome to the journey.
And quite a journey it will be. The trip will not be fully understood or appreciated until you finish with episode 10.
I am sure that some might disagree but this is arguably the best mini series ever produced. Some might argue that the next best series lags far behind.
I agree - this series is second to none.
Yeah I don’t know ANYONE who’s seen it that would disagree.
This is one of the best series I have seen.
I served in 101st Airborne fought in Iraq and Afghanistan had the pleasure of meeting a few of these men before they passed. They forged a path that cant be matched and nobody did it better. The founding fathers of the 101st. What an honor to be part of the fraternity. Dick Winters was one of the best tactioners not only the Airborne has ever seen but the entire United States Army. RIP sir. Hooah.
One story has it that the relative quiet of one flight was broken when a paratrooper asked if anyone wanted to buy a watch. The laughter that erupted welcomed a short break from any tension.
I love this series. It was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks--who collaborated on Saving Private Ryan.
It’s not a documentary. It’s just about the best series ever shown on tv.
Bro the ending from this episode just gives you chills dude all those planes and boats with soldiers on them knowing this is it and this is real and we may never get back to our families at home...
My favorite TV series ever! I own this series as well as The Pacific. I've seen Band of Brothers all the way through over 147 times.
This Is a true story! it Is!
best miniseries ever made!
This is a great series. “The Pacific” is another one of you like this. And there is another one in the works but the name escapes me. Thank you both for watching and starting this journey!
I've watched the whole series multiple times, and love it. Though there are parts that are going to make you cry.
You two are in for the ride of your life!
And those men that you see talking like a documentary are people that are actually being played in the film
A lot of Easy men actually did respect Sobel for training them so hard because it helped them get through the war alive. Yes, he was disliked by the men, but they still gave him their respect for preparing them for the war
More than 11,000 aircraft were involved in the D-Day landings, along with over 6500 ships......the aircraft shown taking off at the end of this episode were carrying 15.500 US and 7,900 British paratroopers who were dropped into Normandy on the night of 5/6 June 1944.........the beach landings were then made by roughly 57,500 US soldiers, 53,815 British and 21,400 Canadians, so by the end of D-Day, more than 156,000 Allied troops had been landed. In addition, more than 196,000 naval personnel, from the USA, The UK, Canada and other nations were also involved, making the number of personnel involved in D-Day over a third of a million.........the greatest amphibious landing in history, and it was all achieved in secrecy, catching the German defenders totally off guard and by surprise........the total number of casualties was less than 10,500, far lower than had been anticipated, with the heaviest losses being on Omaha Beach, where over 2000 US troops became casualties, as so graphically portrayed in the opening sequences of "Saving Private Ryan". It's an incredible fact that the number of casualties in the 24 hours of D-Day, was actually less than the number of casualties up to 11 a.m. on November 11th 1918, the last day of World War One, when more than 11,000 Allied troops were killed or wounded...........
Hello, Beesleys. When you're both ready, you should watch and post videos on the ten episodes of "The Pacific", the counterpart to "Band of Brothers", focusing on the U. S. Marine Corps fighting the Japanese in the Pacific.
If you love Winters now, you'll love him so much more by the end of the mini-series!
You’ve got to watch the entire series! Especially the D-day invasion! Good you’re continuing with the series!
As an American, I would love to see a mini series of the British 6th Airborne.
Guys this is a documentary with bits of real footage. The older gentleman talking are some of the real men this movie was made about. 😊
If you read the book "Band of Brothers," you will find out that Captain Sobel is pretty much the way he is portrayed here.
I love this series. The men of Easy Company went through their own personal hell. Amazingly brave individuals.
Herbert Sobel was a tragic figure. He was also an intolerable person.
After the war, he got married and started a family. I believe he was called back to service during the Korean War.
He spent the rest of his life in severe depression, got divorced, and became estranged from his children. In about 1970, he attempted suicide by gunshot. He flinched as he squeezed the trigger, leaving him alive but incapable of basic daily functions.
He lived another 17 years, effectively an invalid ward of the state without ever leaving the veterans hospital. He died literally unmourned. Not a single person attended his funeral.
I don't know what made him what he was. Whatever it may have been, must have been horrible.
13,000 men dropped out of the sky at midnight, 6 hours before the army hits the beach.
Pathfinders dropped June 5th 2330 (11:30pm). Main airborne force at 0130 (1:30am) June 6th
@@ColdWarShot Early recon long before that (beach sand samples).
@@williambranch4283 if you’re talking about the two X-Class Submarines, yes. I was strictly discussing airborne.
Mark 24:26? Aha! You saw it and commented on how dangerous it is! According to what my paternal grandfather told us about how he got his "Purple Heart Medal" he was pulling chocks away, and the anxious pilot didn't wait for the hand signals and rolled his aircraft over Grandpa's hand! 😳
Glad to see you two doing this one.
I'm ready for the next one as well. Thank you!
He may be harsh but dammit he crafted one of the finest companies in the Airborne
One episode per week? Dang! I was hoping you'd do one every 2 or 3 days.
The fence scene actually happened
LOL...that old man on the bike in the village was just going about his business...he was joking with Winters about "capturing" him. The target that Easy Company was practicing against was most likely the crossroads that is shown.
Also, the Paratroopers were pretty much the most elite unit in the US Military when this series starts in 1942. It was an all volunteer force, had the highest physical fitness standards, and were the most highly trained troops early on in the war. Later on, more highly trained and elite units would be formed that were more like commandos...such as the Navy's Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) or Marine Raiders or the joint Canadian/US "Devil's Brigade". So Sobel training the men as hard as he did was actually a very good thing, even to the lengths of teaching them how to go without water for long periods...which is what they would have to endure in field in real life anyway. The men of Easy Company would give great credit to Sobel later on for how well he prepared them to be involved in the war.
Airborne Infantry was a voluntary service and only 2 out of every 10 trainees completed their training and became paratroopers.
Ross from Friends was the perfect choice for this at this time. Friends had been on for a while, and I think people were kind of sick of Ross, so it was easy to hate him here.
Private White was quitting when he refused to suit up and run, and I guess would be sent back to the regular Army.
It's a true story. These events actually happened
Best series ever so far.....
Yes show more episodes of band of brothers!
On Day-D there were 11,590 allied aircraft in the air.
This series gives you the airborne perspective in the European theater. "Saving Private Ryan" for hitting the beach at Normandy. "Pacific" for the Marines fighting the Japanese in the Pacific theater. All very worthy film making.
But there was supposed to be a Spielberg/Hanks series about the Air Force in Europe and I don't know what happened to it.
@BTinSF it is currently airing on Apple TV. Masters of the Air. I'll admit though, it's a bit... soulless... it was supposed to be the cap on the trilogy but honestly I think Generation Kill is the better 3rd entry, even though it's not even about ww2.
My 6 cousins (brothers) all fought in WW2 and all came home.
My memory isn't what it used to be apparently, because I thought for sure you had already reacted to this. It's an outstanding mini-series.
Such a great series; so emotional
This won’t be the last of the chills! This is such a good series, with emotional and historical tales to tell. Looking forward to watching the rest of it with you. Peace …
The way they were treated and what they went through is pretty standard to this day.
I went through basic in 2000 and it was the same idea, no rights, no property, no fun.
All of the footage in the intro is from the show itself...from future episodes.
Very nice reaction, thank you
So glad your watching this
Sobel may not have been a great field officer, but he was one of the best training officers to have ever put on the uniform. Training SHOULD be hard. War sure as hell is.
Just an FYI; I own this DVD set and I’ve watched it 10 times. The episodes only get more intense from here.
A little perspective…
The UK went to war in Sept 1939. Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, Crete, North Africa, sinking the Graf Spee and Bismark, all happened before the US got in the fight. Just saying.
Before he wrote Band of Brothers Stephen Ambrose wrote a very good book about John Howard and the Ox and Bucks at Pegasus Bridge.
And did a piss poor job until the US got involved, just saying
Just to give you an idea about the training, Ambrose notes that it took 5,300 volunteers to produce 1,800 parachutists. A very high drop out rate.
Hey, Folks.
I want to come along for the ride while you watch BOB.
I'm now subscribed..
Love from Texas.❤
BoB is the best series on WWII in Europe. It is also very historically correct. Manny F.
the majority of US military personnel were not volunteers, they were draftees. Once in the military some would be able to volunteer for certain specialized units - as the Airborne.
The Hollywood movies don't fully portray Nazi crimes as they were far worse in real life. I had some filmmaking / acting experience and I swear it's about time to show accurately the cruelty conducted by the Germans on innocent people.
My whole family was affected by WWII. I had a Jewish uncle who was a Holocaust survivor and lost his mother during a Nazi raid when he was only 14. We have to keep the memory about it alive no matter how painful it may seem. Also; maybe you could watch the Irena Sendler movie next?
What are your thoughts on the scene in Band Of Brother when they find the first camp?
As bad as they were, the Japanese were worse. Just less organized. If you have the stomach I highly recommend the books "The Rape of Nanking" and "Flyboys". Now that NEVER gets spoken about.
Agreed! The same with Japan and Soviet atrocities, they are both brushed past in any talks about war crimes.
@@kalebkennedy327 Good point; it was a very important episode. By the time I saw this episode, back in early 2000's I was already very familiar with the subject of Holocaust and saw pictures and videos from Auschwitz and visited it a year later for the first time.
@@davidshields3093 Thnx for this feedback.
The old man on the bicycle…. Way back when this came out i met the son of a WW1 veteran, and was a WW2 veteran himself….
That old man was a retired british army veteran, hired to be a training observer disguised as a civilian non combatant. These old people, and others, were hired to pretend to be French, Dutch, Italian and German civilians for training exercises. His military experience allowed him to observe and evaluate when the training soldiers would not know they were being watched
That was a great series. 👍🍀 Enjoy.
I can’t wait to watch this program with my son when he’s old enough.
I want him to understand that these men - everyone in the allied war effort - did this for us, all of us, and they didn’t know us. They risked everything for billions of people and all of our futures.
C'mon now, don't be shy. Give us the Part 2... You guys are mad awesome
Still one of my favorite shows on cable TV. I binge watch all episodes every Veterans Day.
I do the same on June 6th
(In Captain Sobel voice); "THERE MIGHT BE A DELAY IN UPLOADS?! PASS REVOKED!"
Band of Brothers is a movie based on actual events and actual people
"Actual people" . . . who are the people interviewed at the beginning of each episode.
@@BTinSF I wanna wear that
@@BTinSF I actually said I’m aware of that, but spellcheck changed my words
@@kevinhayes1656 You are, and anybody who watched the full series likely is, but the Beesley's don't seem to have been, at least at the beginning.
All these men have already been through basic training. The officers and NCOs are already serving in the army. They are volunteers for the Airborne and can quit or be washed-out at any time and sent back to their previous unit.
I've watched this entire series several times. A great program. I hope the two of you enjoy the experience of watching it all the way through. The term "Band of Brothers" comes from Shakespeare's Henry V.
At the time of filming, many of the ones who made it through were still alive. The statue of Dick Winters in France was modeled by Mr. Lewis because of the close resemblance. Thanks for this.
There is a German equivalent of this series, which is probably still available on some streaming service, called "Generation War" about a group of friends who either volunteer or are conscripted into the German Army in WW II and serve on various fronts in Europe during the war. No matter what you think of the Nazi regime and its horrors, the German people suffered terribly in the war and especially those serving in the military during it. The series makes the point that the "little people" inevitably pay for the ambitions and, sometimes, criminality of their leaders. It's as much a tear jerker as Band of Brothers, even if you view the Germans as just an enemy.
When you finish this series, try "The Pacific" which is set in WWII, but is focused on the Marines island hopping campaign as they fought the Japanese. For modern times, HBO's "Generation Kill" is a good watch. A lot of Marines play themselves in that series and the conversations are pretty authentic.
Thanks!
Thank you So Much

Hello....y'all need watch all of the series of Band of Brothers......excellent movie
Thumb Up #703! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊
Notes: You said "boats" when you meant "ships"! "Dunkirk" is the one about tiny ships and big boats. 😅
Your comment about their level of technology just reminds some of us about how young you two actually are. 😅 It makes us feel old. 😮
Episode 10 is the full-on documentary one.
I enjoyed my first time seeing you two react to something that isn't a straight documentary. 😊
Good reaction. You two are really going to enjoy this series. Unforgettable.
I started watching and was like wait didn't they are do this series. Then I remembered you where moving everything over. Lol. I was thinking of the pacific, you haven't done that one. 😂
Hi, amazing channel! A slight side track but still in the realm of; could you consider creating a tribute to the late and amazing Kevin Conroy? He passed away last year, and was the sole reason I got into acting. On MsMojo there was a video about the best voice acting in animate d movies and I think he should've been included for his role in Batman the Mask of Phantasm (the scene at the cementary). I have a VA background and there are some preconceived notions that it's not as demanding as regular acting; but the vocal training itself and perfecting the craft may take more time than any acting school. l feel like he's very underrated as Batman (ditto Mark Hamill as Joker) and even non existent in the conversation. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)
I love this series!! The greatest generation♥️
The series is indeed based on a non-fictional by S Ambrose. He got his info from historical records and much of the East Company detail from the men whom you saw at the outset and others of the the company.
Bone up on your WW2 info. Of course it was training when Sobel’s bonehead maneuver cause 95% of the company to be “killed”. The whole thing took place at a training base in North Carolina. The Germans never brought the war to the USA. 3000 miles of Atlantic Ocean helps.
Similarly, it was only a training operation in England (old man on the bicycle.). Again, the Germans never set foot in Great Britain.
Yes there were boats bringing men to the beaches of Normandy. The paratroops were jumping behind the Germans guarding the beaches to cause mischief behind the enemy lines and assist the soldiers on the beaches in their efforts to get a foothold. You’ll see how the plan was to provide some of that in Ep. 2.
Mark 0:41. Howdy! 🤠 Thanks for this! "Blind Wave" is about to post the final one, a documentary episode. You're just starting! It's like watching a good show with friends though we have never met in person.
"Series"?! Hahaha! There's some irony here. First, I know that over there you say, "series", when we say, "season". Second, when tgis came out it was on "HBO" and that's "premium cablevision" not "free broadcast television"! (Just ask their publicity department!) 😉
Also, because it was intended ftom the start to be short, it was called a "limited series" because it was too long to be a "miniseries"!
Third, but over there, regardless of length, it just be a "series", because your television programming is shorter than ours anyway!
Fourth, but now for your generation that takes this newfangled "streaming" for granted, you're used to short series/seasons anyway! 😅😂
Weekend pass means you get to leave the base for the weekend
Of course keep going with this series, it is such a marvelous production. America & England have such a storied history together, WWII is a point where we came together in an effort to combat evil. Each time I came to England during my military service, the people were so nice & I met some veterans there who were exceptional in their kindness & warmth. Fond memories of the many years I passed through Lakenheath, Mildenhall & Upper Heyford. Looking forward to following you on this journey (might I suggest cutting the proposed timeline, a week apart & you miss or forget some critical points as there are so many in each episode)
Awesome series...
U gotta watch the pacific also great...
4:48 they volunteered for the Airborne, not the military. I know in the first weeks of basic, they will find something to punish u for or give u an impossible task and then punish you
Wow, when I saw that series on HBO in 2014, I cried a lot with emotion and there was also frustration and even impotence in some scenes. The other 9 remaining chapters of the series have strong emotions. I also don't understand why there are people who say that you shouldn't crying in the series, obviously it is normal that we have these emotions for the scenes, I for example cried in The Walking Dead, John Wick 4, Titanic and they gave me emotions for the scenes and situations 😭
I hope you answer the message I am a new follower of your RUclips channel please 🙏🏻🩷
Many of man put there all in for our Feedom we owe them a debt we could never pay!
Just so your aware Britain had its own airborne force aswel dropped behind enemy lines at d-day at the same time as the Americans.
Did you guys (James and Millie) know that Winters is portrayed by a British actor?
Many of the cast!
It is more dangerous in some ways to remove the wheel chokes from jet aircraft than from a propeller-driven airplane. Granted the propeller can chop you up a jet engine you just have to get too close to it and it'll suck you in or it will knock you flying.
You may be interested in the planning for d day. We had fake inflatible tanks lined up for miles as decoys during preparation so they d mistake our desitination
So great to see more people start there journey watching’BOB’ great mini series honestly one of the best ever to date unless something else comes up over the years that’ll match this show but happy watching
