All three cars are fantastic, but the thing I like the most is the way James explains and transmits the feelings, and the details of each car. Great video!
Been lucky enough to have seen examples of all these 3 up close. Including the Right hand drive CLK GTR roadster. All incredible cars. The CLK is definitely the most dramatic.
Having watched the full episodes on each car and now the condensed versions it’s brings a smile to my face every time. Unfortunately above my pay rate however I am so lucky to have the opportunity to watch these videos. Top shelf in every way James and the DK team👍. Thanks for sharing 👏👏👏🇦🇺
Fantastic series!! You're so lucky to get to drove these incredible machines. Some of us will go through life without even having the privilege of seeing one in person. Thank you so much for sharing these with us.
I love these in depth videos of the incredible cars you have access too. They're absolutely stunning cars and great content. This interior was by far my favorite.
The OG holy trinity well before P1, 918 and Ferrari the Ferrari. The CLK GTR looks the most striking of the bunch for sure, but the timeless, muscular elegance of the F1 is breathtaking.
Talking about extreme, that gt198 is the craziest of them all. But no way any channel gets a chance to test it on road, so we only settle with the "mundane" 996 gt1😂
@@playeryale are you talking about the later model 911 GT1 evo that was made as a strassenversion? I didn't even know it existed but I had a white hot wheels of a 911 GT1 evo with some racing livery as a kid.
@@t3hgir Hi. the 97 version was called gt1 evo; the 98 version was called gt1-98. both have street cars but the 98 has only 1. can google "gt1-98 strassenversion" and see if it's what u had 😁
@@playeryale hey, thanks thats the one I meant. The '98 version looks to have improved aerodynamics with that sculpted bodywork compared to the 97 911 GT1
Talking about a race car for the road, I'd love a user's guide for the Jaguar XJR-15 (and also a Bugatti EB110S, a road car for the road) ! Keep up the good work, your videos are amazing !
In theory you should be able to change gears without pushing on the clutch as the gears are straight cut. Of course it's easier on the gearbox to use the clutch but at full throttle the ECU will cut injection to drop rpm to slap in the next gear. On downshift it's more problematic as you should double clutch to match rpm but on the recetrack when you put a lower gear is because you are decellerating and that matches the rpm
Amazing videos in this series, the production, the soundtrack, and the detail in the way James is telling the story and background of each of the unicorns. And as a wish to DK Engineering, if you ever were to get the chance, to make a video on the mythical E46 M3 GTR Straßenversion, even though the rarity of them can make it if not impossible, could prove to be very difficult I think. Love the content.
actually, reading on wikipedia seems Lotus did make one road legal Elise GT1 :) "Lotus was aware of the fact that they lacked enough budget to produce multiple road versions of the GT1, so they came up with another plan. Through interpretation of the rules for FIA GT, Lotus realized they would only need to build a single production car in order to meet homologation requirements. The car would not even need to be sold to a customer, it merely had to be built. "
I'm just disagreeing with one thing, the sound from exterior when you hear it passing by, boi that transmission whine... i've seen many videos of it each time it passes you know it's a CLK GTR, also the little "hiccups" when you are driving slow... are very something special to my ears. Even inboard videos you can almost hear only that except if you push the throttle
Great video as always, bold statement to say the F1 is the best car of all time. Not saying I disagree, and what do I know, but would like to see you qualify that comment against cars from other eras. To be fair I don't think it's possible to answer that question. So I've answered my own question, don't bother! If I had to, Alfa 8C
Didn't the CLK basically originate with a McLaren F1 engine swapped and then developed from there? I assume pretty heavily, as the interior differences would ripple outwards.
Just a question, Why is the Porsche 911 GT1 the best car to go around the track even though the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR had the most championships under its belt?
For me, talking about the appearance only : Clk gtr is the most race car out of the three, really screams out "get out of my way you slow car" Porsche gt1 is the distinguished porsche, i mean even the most normie people could easily point out that this is a porsche, showing just bow strong the porsche design signature Mclaren f1 is the most subtle hypercar ever, no over dramatic crease or vent or super huge aggressive wing on the back but give you the impression of a grown up person
Mercedes Benz and nothing else don't say F1 cause you're British compared to the technology and reliability the CLKGTR is the best among them All specially the super sport version with all of my respect

This is the best in-depth series of the Unicorns... EVER! Love it 👍

I have to say this is the most under rated channel of all of RUclips

Really enjoyed this series, amazing to see all three together and to get to drive them.
Very interesting perspective! Thanks for taking the time to film/edit/share. 😎👍
Too bad the CLKs in the states by now. Wouldve loved to see more content of this trio... theres just so little
These sound so good, that straight cut gearbox whine and V12. This would be near the top of my list of the three. It's a hard pick.

Its not the gears being straight or helical cut that do the trick. its the dog ring engagement instead of synchros.
Definition of masterpiece and art! Thank you for sharing it!
CLK needs to be yellow or red and the F1 Mclaren Orange and the GT1 White

This channel deserves a lot more subscribers…….👍
Hard to disagree with all of what was said, but personal preference, if I could have 1 of those cars... It'd be the CLK GTR.
Is the sequential clutchless operational? It does have dog engagement quite obviously.
Amazing. Thanks to all customers too
What a great channel and series this was.
I love 90s GT racing cars. Iconic era

they used the f1 chassis with a mercedes engine, then when they got the testing done, put back the f1 and sold it in an auction

How is it so much heavier than the race version?
Airbags, aircon and interior apparently. Don’t see it making up 400kg though

Great reviews but drop the background music. You don’t need it.
The music is unnecessary while you are speaking. It detracts.
