Just for the future if you hear that tape up it works a lot better and you can stretch it. We use it same tape different brand for stuff on helicopters in the army
John , you are truly talented. I had no idea you did all this in your spare time. I’m very impressed at your craftsmanship and professionalism. Keep up the good work.
You have essentially built what I have built in my head; lost my leg last year, so it's on the backburner for this winter. My idea was to use ABS haircell instead of the ACP. Outstanding build and finish. You could always get a raised plaquard of your logo, and mount it on the front corner, and hide the gap!!!!
Only came across your channel recently, and watched your other multipart builds and was disappointed this morning that part 4 hadn’t been uploaded for this most recent build yet….and voila this evening it was! Fantastic build and great explanations. Keep it up man.
Hey man!! Thanks so much for watching. I do have blueprints available for the metal structure of the camper body and the trailer frame itself! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 www.adv4x4.us
@@Adv4x4 thanks man I just bought it do you think you will come out with a materials list like the siding used and how much did you purchase. Love the build this will be perfect to tow behind the Tacoma.
Thanks for the videos. If I understand correctly, you floor is a sheet of 3mm ACM attached to the frame, then a half inch of foam insulation, and then vinyl flooring on top. Is that right, and are you still happy with that?
Thanks for the awesome videos! Since Im a welder more than I am a carpenter, I think ill be doing this same type of build. I built out a van and like it but been thinking of doing a teardrop and getting a truck instead. I like the angular look that you did more than the rounded look. Great stuff! Gets my mind turning!
Another secret about beautiful tank spray it down with glass. But you don't need to have a putty knife. Or some plastic plastic plastic razor blade. And you can go along there and clean it off. Real good, I dealt with it for 32 years.
If I had enough space to warrant a table large enough to handle these materials I would. Single car garage + tools + camper leaves little to no space unfortunately. The floor is one large table 😉
Thanks for the build videos. I’m sure there are going to be lots of copies for this build. For those wondering about how much do you have invested into this build already?
If I had to guess, it is somewhere near $5k. I will be doing a cost breakdown video in the end! But still even at that price, compared to some of the ones on the market. That is a fraction of the cost as buying one that was premade. Plus you get the satisfaction of saying you built it yourself!
I've always been to scared to build this type of trailer. Now watching you I am ready to take it on. I am a metal artist and build lots of outdoor landscape items in my shop. Mostly trellises and gates. I am currently doing a similar RTT trailer like the one you did.
Another amazing episode! Already bought my plans. I have some ideas to make some small changes but I really love what you’re doing and you’re a great inspiration to the community. A little tip for putting down the caulking you can use painters tape to help you get a nice straight line on either side of the caulk line and then peel it right off. The big alteration I hope to make using your plans is to make the teardrop section removable somewhat like a truck camper so that I can have a trailer when I’m not using it for camping.
Thanks for the plan purchase man! Also appreciate the kind words 🙌🏻🙌🏻 That’s a great idea for the caulking! Would have definitely made cleaning up the edges way easier. I debated making mine removable as well but in the end I couldn’t think of a time I’d actually wanna remove it haha. Still a great idea. Makes the trailer much more versatile 👌🏼
@@Adv4x4 The only reason that I would wanna remove it is to use the base as an actual trailer towing motorcycles etc. Although I thought about making a way to where I could put my dirtbike onto the frame of the teardrop as well but I also have a Harley and could use a trailer for towing it and even to pick up supplies for the project. I’m hoping to attend the Overland Expo east conference in October maybe I’ll see you there; would love to shake your hand and thank you in person for all your great content.
Excellent video. I'm impressed with your attention to detail. I'm a big fan of the rivnuts. Have you ever thought about buying a hydraulically assisted rivnut gun? Also, did you make your graphic yourself?
Thank you sir! I gotta say I didn’t know they existed! The one I have it’s fairly easy to operate. I’d imagine if I was installing hundreds a week I’d have to look into one of those hydraulic ones though! I got someone on the app “Fiverr” to design my logo!
Did you add anything in the corners to support the paneling or to screw the paneling to? Or is your paneling rigid enough that it don’t need anything there? I am building a trailer and contemplating what to do on the corners. I’m very impressed with your build!
When I attached the trim the screws when thru the trim and exterior panels and into the metal structure of the camper. You can see that in more detail with the build videos linked in the description!
wow.. wow... This is a way better build than the guys who charge $39 K for a similar trailer. I would love to be an investor if you like to take this thing further in terms of starting a Biz.
Have really enjoyed following along the build, you've done a great job explaining everything along the way while also keeping it entertaining. I may have missed it in one of your other videos. Do you have a rough budget that you have into this? Highly considering a project like this for the winter and was curious what the cost would be vs. some of the alternatives. Thanks in advance.
Hey man! Really appreciate you watching and glad you enjoy it. I didn’t necessarily start with a “budget” in mind but I also didn’t want it to be too crazy expensive. I will do a cost breakdown video at the end when it’s all said and done forsure! If I had to ballpark the cost it’s around 5k
@@Adv4x4 Thanks for the reply. Very reasonable for what you'll have at the end and MUCH better than the $20k + price tags of what's on the market for sure.
@@Adv4x4 my concern would be the screws walking back due to vibration. Sick build. Thanks again for the idea. Cant wait to start building my RTT trailer.
I’m gonna give them a check after I put some more miles on it! It’s easy enough to do fortunately. If they end up working loose a lot on me I may do rivets we’ll see!
"What's up guys?" What do you mean, "what's up"?. You have no way of knowing who is watching your video, and clearly have no interest in the actual answer, so why ask an assinine question to which you can't receive an answer? English has an enormous number of ways of greeting people or introducing yourself, so use one of them instead of adding to the destruction of the language by spouting some nonsensical and illogical vernacular. It is a really, really annoying way for anyone to start a video. From the details given in the video, I suspect you are going to have a problem with the trim. You only put butyl tape under the face with screws. This leaves an open edge facing the direction of travel in some cases. Water will be forced under the trim as you drive.
Hello John I really love the build and may I ask you for the drawings of the Micro Camper Overland Build. I would really appreciate I can send you mi mail addres. Best Regards JANNI

Which is why I do not understand why you do your cuts on the ground like you've never seen a table before.

I was a bit nervous about the build at first too. Mainly concerning it being water tight etc. but as I went along it wasn’t as hard as I expected!
@@Adv4x4 Looks like you sealed it very well. Are there any corrosion issues around steel screws in the aluminum?

What thickness did you use for your doors and windows? The link to the website for them has multiple options.
My walls ended up being about 1 1/4” thick I believe!
Really awesome video.. very detailed…my build is identical to yours… I’m about 95% done with my build.. How many sticks of trim did your trailer take?
Thank you! I think about 6 of them.

3mm aluminum composite sheets!
Why self-tapping screws and not rivets? Any benefits one over the other?
I’m not a huge fan of rivets. They aren’t easy to remove if need be which is the main reason I didn’t use them.
