  • Need to recover deleted files from your external hard drive? Check out 5 simple steps and a bunch of useful tips to increase data recovery chances. Hard Drive Recovery Software: bit.ly/33KY7j8
    It's quite upsetting when an external HDD gets damaged, corrupted, or inaccessible. But, as long as your external hard disk is not physically damaged or broken, you can use disk recovery software to recover data from the hard drive first. Data loss occurs for a variety of reasons that demand a reliable recovery tool. Situations when Disk Drill software can help:
    - You deleted files on an hard drive by mistake;
    - Formatted external hard drive;
    - When faced with a disk that suddenly shows up as a RAW file system;
    - “You need to format the disk in drive before you can use it" error message;
    - Hard disk not showing files;
    - partition inaccessible or lost;
    - your external disk is crashed, damaged or corrupted;
    - Viruses and malware.
    Supported external hard disk brands: LaCie, Seagate, SanDisk, Kingstone, Western Digital, Toshiba, Buffalo, Samsung, Maxone, KESU, Silicon Power, Adata, G-Tech, etc.
    Steps to recover deleted files from an external hard drive:
    Step 1. Download & Install Disk Drill for Windows or Mac.
    Step 2. Connect an external hard drive to your PC.
    Step 3. Click Search for lost data button to scan your external disk.
    Step 4. Preview found files and select which files you want to recover.
    Step 5. Then click Recover to save found files. A save location must be different to the original location.
    Follow these tips to successfully restore your files from an external HDD:
    Tip #1 Why recovering lost data from an external hard drive is possible? Here's the thing. Until your files are not overwritten by new data, you can undelete them. The key is not to overwrite the files you want to recover. Stop using the drive immediately to give yourself the best chance of recovering your deleted data.
    Tip #2 Do not recover the files back to the original drive. You can overwrite files before they can be recovered.

      Hi there! Sorry to hear about that. The only way to verify your files recoverability is to download Disk Drill Basic, run the scan, and preview the file(s) in question. If you managed to preview the file you needed to recover in a basic version, please email us at help@cleverfiles.com for further assistance. No preview just means that the file might be damaged or corrupt, it can be recovered, but it might need to be repaired.

      You can select the destination directory for file recovery in Disk Drill and choose which files you wish to recover from the backup. Your recovered files will be stored in that directory and won't overwrite existing files.

    Hi there! Your video makes me hopeful that I can recover my files. After a windows update, my computer can no longer read my portable Toshiba hard drive. If I connect it and use the Disk Management tool, it shows as RAW, but when I used a different program, I was able to retrieve some data. I don't mind paying for the PRO version, but I want to know if I'll have to spend the rest of my life renaming and reorganizing the recovered files. This drive has ALL of my pictures and videos on it, including those imported from 7 phones. If the software can recover my files, will they be renamed and stored in one big file or will the restored files look as they did (with the same file name and folder location) on my drive before it was damaged? @@staciekeener1994 Hi Stacie, yes I did (although I’m still tidying up some of the data!). I purchased disk drill which recovered about 4tb from a 1tb hard drive... difficult to wrap my head around that, but essentially disk drill recovered lots of duplicate files. You’ll need to get hold of another external hard drive to move all your recovered files to. You’ll then have to tidy up the files as there will be lots of duplicates hidden away in different folders (I did anyway!). It was a really stressful time but disk drill should be able to recover everything for you! This experience has actually made me really tidy up my files and I’m also in the process of backing up in the cloud too. Good luck! :-)

    Hey man, great video i just wanted to ask you before starting this.
    I have a 2 TB hard drive on my laptop and i recently built a new pc and i wanted to use my laptops hard drive as external secondary. I plugged it in and it didnt allow me to open it. I went to disk manager and it showed up as a RAW file type.
    I searched up how to change to NTFS, it said to use chkdsk /f which i did but it froze at 90% and i had to close it. Then, i went to check the drive and i didnt have permission so i changed ownership to my PC and i lost about 400 GB of data...
    I hope i can recover this as i need it for my work all my important files are there and everything. I also installed the drive back onto my laptop and i let me login but it was all a black screen.
    I restarted holding shift then got BSOD and its been stuck on diagnosing your pc for the past hour or so.

      @@Poa2024 hi man, sad to hear this.
      But do i understand right, that you have windows 11 installed on this hard drive, where you want recover files ?
      If i understand right and you have windows in same tisk, then you must install windows to another drive, then insert this HDD to computer(hdd where you need recover files) and then start scan it.
      Also you need to have atleast same amount free space on your computer, what have in that HDD where you need recover files.
      Example if your HDD where you need to recover files, are 500GB, then would be best if you have 500+GB free space on your pc, because otherwise program cannot recover files, because just dont have free space.
      And use definetly deep scan and scan full HDD, not just partition. Its probably will not show you folders as they was in your compuiter when you deleted/lost them, but files will be in folders, by file types.
      Example, all pictures in one folder, all videos in one folder etc - i just used it today and this way it worked good, just needed later search pictures i needed to find, but i got all as needed :)
      i hope you get it work :)
      Also, i used this program today and its really good program, worked as need.

    Is there any way to recover the folder tree and the file's names with DiskDrill? All my .aep (after effects files) are now named fille001, file002, and they can't find the footage folders. Thanks!!! It's the only software that can recover my .aep and files are not corrputed. Thanks Again!!

      Hi, Let me note that the files found with the "Quick Scan" method retain folder structure.
      In case your files are beyond recovery with the "Quick Scan", there is likely no way to recover the original structure. We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused.
      We apologize for any confusion around that. Disk Drill Basic gives you all the functions of data protection and scanning so that you can see which files can be recovered by the premium version.
      Disk Drill Basic for Windows allows free recovery of 500MB of your file(s) (total size). If you're experiencing any issues with this, please email us at help@cleverfiles.com for further assistance.

    so I wanted to move my files from my Seagate 1TB hard drive to my Lacie 2TB hard drive. I created two folders in the Lacie Hard drive, 1 with existing multiple files from the LaCie and the other with the files from the Seagate, once I moved the 30 files (which where all folders with multiple files inside) from the seagate, it started moving but it gave me an error and said something about a file not being able to transfer because of a reason I forgot .-. and now there are no folders and files in the LaCie.... I still have it plugged in and when I "force eject it" it gives me a warning that it will potentially ruin information inside the hard drive, so I end up canceling and Hoping maybe it'll pop up. Should I force eject it and try again and will this software work for this situation/ nightmare I'm in lbvs.

    Hi there … I’m recovering files accidentally lost while formatting a WD external hard drive on my Mac desktop. I’m using the Pro version of Disk Drill. All is going well with the exception that it’s not recovering the original file name … it’s categorized under documents, videos, etc … but no original file names … I only see various numbers. Any suggestions other than me having to open and identify each file separately? Thank you in advance.

    • @cleverfiles

      Thanks for commenting!
      File names and folder structure are metadata that quite often can't be recovered.
      To increase the recovery chances make sure to run the "All Recovery methods" scan on the whole drive. If you only run Deep Scan, the metadata is lost.
      Please also see the suggestions in this article: www.cleverfiles.com/help/why-dont-my-recovered-files-have-their-original-names/

I have many pro tools session folders which i can see but many don't have the plug in setitngs folder associated with them .
    So i need to know what do i transfer in order to restore these sessions in full .. There is so much extra information and data that i don't know what is essential here. I accidentally deleted the files off my hard drive but I’m recovering them now. My computer doesn’t have enough space to put them on there and I don’t have a usb, can I put them back in the hard drive that they were deleted from? Please help

      Hi there, when you recover your files, it's extremely important to select a destination different from the location where you lost the file to save the retrieved directory. Otherwise, the files may be overwritten.
      Please let me know if you have any questions or contact us to help@cleverfiles.com

    When I pick to preview a file. It just shows a folder and the size. But how do you know what's in it?

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  3 года назад +1

    Hello, I used Disk Drill to recover some files from a USB and after I have done the USB locked. Can't use it anymore. It has write protection and as hard as I tried with a few methods I can't get rid of it. Has anyone the same problem?

    Hi there, do you know if it can restore pictures from a HDD belonging to a RAID 1 (2 disks) on a remote NAS ?

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  8 месяцев назад +1

      Currently, the option to recover files directly from NAS in unavailable.
      You will need to extract the target drive from NAS and plug this drive into the dock station that will be connected directly to your computer.

    Do you have a Video where you can make your hard drive recognizable?

    • @cleverfiles
      @cleverfiles  3 года назад

      Hi there! Sorry to hear about that. Disk Drill cannot scan the Drive if it is not recognized by your computer. Our team can try to get your data recovered in our lab. Please visit www.cleverfiles.com/data-recovery-center.html for more information.

      Hi there!
