Haven't seen Elton Sawyer since his Busch Series days, good to see him still in the sport in some capacity.
This could be a golden opportunity to test rain tires on an oval. The track isn't super wet, but just enough to use rain tires and it could make for some awesome racing.
@John Haas I'm not talking about testing a full race. I'm talking about sticking rain tires on one of the test drive cup cars and sending it out to run around and see what happens.
yea i thought you meant for the actual race but yea i agree if they have some funding to throw at someone to put some tires on and have a group of 4 or 5 cars run then they could at least see. im timid to see them race in rain. heck nascar over past couple seasons has done nothing but take power out and increase downforce which unknowingly really made racing suck as you cant pass and just floor it. i wouldnt mind seeing what rain tires could provide but think it would be a slow slow race.
At least we can all agree that rain has more wins than Kyle Busch this season 😂😂

This was my first race after following NASCAR for years. I’m so bummed it got misted out but the experience was awesome while it lasted. Looking forward to coming back next year with 100% completion of the race.
Rain tires would be a good idea I think
honestly in my opinion I dont think rain tires would work well on ovals due to their high speed and banking.
Did you see the roval race I'm pretty sure they could do it just like a rc race the pace would slow down but they could race
@@mitchellberryhill7733 Makes sense and sounds like a good idea for the future. But sadly they didnt bring rain tires and they would have to have them shipped to Texas, plus they would need hundreds of tires lol.
I love rain racing for road courses and it could technically work at an oval but it would be boring on an oval. They would be going so slow and since ovals have more cautions I think we would see mostly yellow flag conditions and a lack of green flag racing

Race in the rain !....put on rain tires like Indy cars do...may have to go slower to keep from wrecking, but its better than nothing...
NASCAR should look into different ways to race in the rain so there are not so many red flag races due to weather. I didn’t notice it a lot in the past, but this year has felt bogged down due to rainy conditions.

Honestly, (in my personal opinion, you can take it with a grain of salt, if you wish) the BIGGER mistake was turning regular ovals (Daytona, Indy), into road courses, and also getting rid of the Texas Spring Race, and Dover, and Kentucky COMPLETELY... Like Troy Aikman would say “C’mon Man!” (Oh and add his and Roger Stabuach, 96 HOF Racing Car, as a stuffing stocker, for those on your Naughty list....”

@John Haas I wouldn't expect them to carry the same speeds of over 180mph,but surely with full rain tires on they can achieve 100-120 mph and still put on a very competitive race

Would it be possible to run rain tires on ovals? Charlotte Roval proved at the very least there's grip on banking with rain tires. Just bring in a bunch of water tankers and drench the track wet rather and run the race on rain tires rather than waiting for track to dry for slicks.
No, Even if they could get rain tires for the oval it just would be too dangerous at those speeds,
It’s possible at lower speeds if they test tires and setups. Maybe mud flaps as well for visibility

Not enough time to travel to Martinsville people aren't thinking about that another possibility is Texas midweek next week Martinsville Sunday Texas Tuesday or Wednesday then to Phoenix following Sunday.
