    I love my M4 (Kanto Camera CLA'd) and also my M9 with the replaced CCD sensor cover. I also use the 28 Elmarit and the 35 Summicron (both vintage versions). Leica makes wonderful tools that are a pleasure to use. Cheers Take!

      Great kit!! Does your M4 have a Kanto re-finish as well? M9 is also great, I’d love to have one with the replaced CCD sensor. It has the best reds I’ve seen on any digital camera. Cheers!!

      @@john_murch I had a couple of chips in my leatherette but I got Leica in Wetzlar to fill it in for me without having to redo the whole thing. I also got a light CLA to adjust shutter speeds and rangefinder alignment. One day I’ll get a full CLA done.

    I find when shooting digital I delete more than half of the photos taken and it’s in the pursuit of “perfection.” When shooting film I never delete a scanned image (it’s expensive!) and I find myself looking at each image longer and more closely. It’s more documentary in a sense as there are no deleted frames. That can lead to a sense of more connection to the images. It’s interesting- one of the main benefits of digital cameras, unlimited opportunities to take a shot, ends of making it feel a bit less special

      Thanks for sharing your experience shooting both film and digital. I agree. Because we know we can't delete a film image ion-camera, we're forced to confront our mistakes, or maybe just bad timing. We can use these frames in context with the frame before and after. I think the timing makes a difference too. When you see your image 1 day, 1 month or even 1 year later, we don't take it personally, it's less familiar. We can be more objective. Thanks for your thoughts!

      @@Abc1987 me too. Most advanced and ambitious film M ever made made during the film era. This was made for real shooters at the time to compete against the Contax G2 and Konica Hexar RF.

    I`ve shot film most of my photography life firstly with the Leica M3 then the Nikon F2. The cost of film and the long wait time for the film to be processed forced me to digital. When I heard about the Leica MD 262 I knew it was the camera for me. It shoots like film and there`s no difference in the way I shoot both the film and digital cameras I own...!

      That’s why I love having the M system, so I can go back and forth between digital and film and it feels basically the same. No screen M would be an awesome addition to my kit, but I currently can’t justify owning it, at least for now. I’m glad you’re enjoying it though!!

    I say know your tools. Film, digital, all tools for making photos. I shoot with both, I enjoy both, I try and learn as much about my tools so I can make the best choice for me.

      Thanks for your thoughts. I feel exactly the same. The simpler the camera, the more it becomes a tool, like a hammer or saw. The more complex a camera becomes, the more device-like it becomes, like a microwave, and takes the fun away from the process. 30 years in and I’m still enjoying my photography, and I feel like a beginner every time I shoot, excited to see what new thing I can learn :-)

      @bigheadtaco  25 дней назад

      Very true. There are some new colour films coming to market soon that should bring prices down. Film will never become mainstream again, but at least we can try to make it less than $25-30 a roll!!!

    System user vs a photography photographer. That is the question.

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  25 дней назад +2

      Some just don’t care about the process, which is fine. It’s like someone who loves the process of brewing their own coffee, and those who just want it made for them. Some just care about the end result, and not the process. I love the process…..

    Why not leica MP?

    • @bigheadtaco
      @bigheadtaco  24 дня назад +1

      MP is a great camera, I just prefer the M7 for many reasons. On-off switch so no accidental shots. Aperture priority with exposure comp in 1/3 stops. DX encode reader so the camera automatically sets ISO for me, or I can easily push or pull. Half press exposure lock and reframe. Electronically controlled shutter so no need to adjust shutter speeds, but still has two mechanical speeds (1/60th,1/125th) that can work without a battery. Proper direction exposure arrows in screen so I don’t have to take my eyes off from the viewfinder to adjust shutter or aperture. Shutter speed and ISO read-out in the viewfinder. Quick rewind knob and larger shutter speed dial (this is subjective but I find it faster than the older classic pull up knob and small dial).
