I'm willing to gamble on a Scotty build, I've a been fan from inception. People who are pissed off are new fans that haven't been here since the start. I want to see this team built on Scott's back, I love this team because I see some crazy chemistry with Scotty, RJ and Quickly there is something special there that needs to be polished up but damn I like this team rn.
The lack of aggression argument is interesting. You can clearly see at times Scottie defers the ball and can argue if he should have or shouldn’t. However, there are also games where we see Scottie clinched the win for example against Booker and KD suns team. To those that want Scottie shooting more, driving more, scoring more. Essentially wanna see Scottie shooting 20+ fga consistently. Giannis touched 30% usage year 5 Jokic touched 30% usage year 6 (rounded up) Kawhi touched 30% usage year 6 Scottie just got the reigns and for this season his usage is 25% after rounding it up. Big things will come but also recognize at 22 he’s still raw.
The players you're comparing him with were in much different circumstances. Giannas wasn't close to the player he is now in year 3 he was still scrawny, Kawhi was playing with 3 HOFers and won FMVP and Jokic lead his team to the playofIfs leading in every offensive stat with less usg than Barnes now. His aggression been a problem since year 1 but it seems worse now that he's shooting 3s well he settles for that shot way too much. 1/3 of his FGAs are 3s. KD shoots 45% from three and he only takes that shot 1/4 of the time still 😂 Aggression isn't fully shown in usg% it's about that killer mentality and Scottie hasn't shown it yet I hope it changes though. Easily going to be an all star caliber player it's the superstar part I'm not very sold on yet.
This rebuild will sort out the casuals from the real fans. I dont mind this rebuild as long as they give Scottie the keys and develop gradey, ochai, and maybe nowra.
You just gotta look at year 3 of some of the greats. You'll see Scottie is on the right path. I expect him to level up after all star weekend from being around those elite players. Team USA as well.
As a Raptors fan... this is what I wanted... we will lose alot of games but team has more upside. Rather see young guys fight then a discombobulated group in the middle of the pack as a perenial play-in contender.
Do you think Pascal and Fred could have EVER led this team to a championship? It was time to accept that and move on. What were those 2 doing when they were 22? Let's see what Scottie can do. Maybe he can lead a team to a championship
