I've always been of the opinion that if you're buying something with the intent to replace everything then just don't buy it. You wouldn't buy a brand new chair with one leg shorter than the other 3 with the mindset, I'll just upgrade that.
Any one can spend the same amount of money and get the same thing, but to spend money and customize something to make it better and not only better its yours and their isn't another one like it.
Buying a cheap guitar for the looks and replacing a few things makes a lot of sense financially, as the high end stuff is way more expensive. As long as there aren't any fundamental issues with the build quality and such.
The tone pot is easy to fix: Open the back cavity, get a 10mm socket bit (no need for the wrench), hold the pot with one hand, and then hand tighten with the other. Of course, that is if it has a locking washer.
This guitar seems to hit that sweet spot between quality and willingness to drag it anywhere and play the shit out of it. Really high end guitars are great, but anyone who is gigging a lot will know that it won't take long for that wear and tear to start to show up on an instrument (unless of course you have a dedicated tech and team of rodies!). But for the rest of us, an on stage every night guitar needs to be something you can love and trust, but also something that can take a beating and you don't really care. So slight paint imperfections just become part of the character, along with the scrapes and nicks and stress marks and everything else. A good guitar will show it's age, just like us people, even when it's well loved and taken care of. Sure, I have some really expensive high end guitars, but those never leave the studio.
Agree. I just reviewed the Harley Benton Fusion III and actually mentioned in that review that to me its a perfect kind of "Daily driver" guitar that does the job well enough but is also cheap that you wont worry about abusing it.
Nice review, bought this guitar over 2 years ago, think it was just released. Feel in love with the look of it. Mine came in nearly perfect condition, some minor paint issues in the cavities and one of the inlays higher up the neck isn’t as sharp looking. Mostly use it for rhythm so the bridge isn’t an issue for me.
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial No issues for me, have it setup in c standard with heavier strings. Can play for ages without having to retune. If I’m messing with the whammy bar it will start to go out but I mostly play rhythm so not a problem
If you know how to do a setup with 10 gage strings, trem & truss rod, it WON'T go out of tune. I play Dimebage divebombs with it and stays in tune every single time.
Bit of a trade off between quality and price. I played one in a store and liked it for the money. It's a great price to upgrade some parts if it was gonna be kept and played for a while. I think the higher end Floyds function better and stay in better tune. Better parts and material.
I recently bought another really similar X series Jackson (the Rhoads with yellow bevels). I also had the issue with the FR not staying in tune at all, but then It turned out the intonation screws holding the saddles in place were not tightened enough and some saddles were moving around. Tightening the screws fixed the issue. I will still be replacing the FR special with a Schaller soon, along with the tuners (I don't like gold hardware). Also, on cheap guitars like these, I think you will have much less issues with fretwork if the fretboard has a binding. Most of the complaints about fretwork I've seen have been on guitars without binding.
It's kind of funny that you brought up the young ones I used to grow up watching that show but I live in the United States but I grew up watching that sitcom the young ones that was the greatest awesome British conomy sitcom that I used to love and when Motorhead played my buddy picked up that particular V he tracked it down and picked it up this is cool math
Upgrade the hardware in the tremolo I have a Floyd rose 1000 in 9 dean MLs. And one ML with the Floyd special and I upgraded all the screws to stainless steel and put Floyd rose 1000 saddles on it with stainless steel block inserts in the saddles and that trem hold on to just as good as the 1000s do. I got the stainless steel screw kit on Amazon for 15 dollars US and the saddles were maybe 40 US. And the block inserts were another 10 US . If your interested I can't get you the name of the parts.
Great advice, unfortunately I could not fully repair the tone pot so ended up returning the guitar but if I kept it would definitely have considered this option.
Ahoy! I ordered one of these the other day and it arrived damaged, so I had to return. Upon looking to reorder another I saw the KV (not the XMG) for a few hundred £ more. The only real differences I noticed were the KV has "Seymour Duncan Distortion TB-6 humbucking bridge and Seymour Duncan Distortion SH-6N humbucking neck pickups" along with the Floyd Rose 1000. Do you think the KVXMG for £639 is better value than the KV for £899 or worth splashing a bit more for the KV. I don't gig right now, just use the guitar for home fun and recording atm but might return. My main genres to mess around with atm would be mostly heavy thrashy stuff. Thanks for the videos.
That's how much it cost oh hell yeah I'm all in I need this in my life I'm definitely got to track this down that's how much it cost that's awesome value are you kidding me that's an amazing value you get a sick-ass good-looking playing guitar and a B for that price is just giving it away honestly you're just like you're getting a really good value a money and get really expensive and they don't is not as quality like this yeah I'm all in for this man this thing is awesome I have to say you got great taste
Sweet video! I fell in love with Jackson guitars recently but it's a shame that the X series guitars QC is all over the place. I think some models are worth it only if you want to have the neck through construction. Now having a few X series guitars, the quality of the hardware is a straight up gamble. I hate to say it but the cheaper JS Jackson's I've had have been more consistent, as far as playability, feel, and QC. You'll still have to probably upgrade parts but at least you know what you're getting. The X series having most of the same parts, but not being consistent is my biggest grip with Jackson at the moment. For me what sets Jackson's apart from other guitars, is the feel of the guitar when you play and the body shapes. I do understand that QC issues across many companies is very common post Coivd times but hopefully it all gets better over all. Since I do love Jackson guitars but QC issues hurt every aspect of the industry.

I just purchased one from a 3rd party and interestingly it plays quite well, though it was missing the tremolo bar, which is fine. I put new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 9's on and so far it's stayed in tune quite well. I am curious though what the active electronics actually do. Does anyone know? I plugged it into my Marshall and it just roared. Then I tried it in my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and after some tweaking with contour and tone, it sounded great. Always wanted a V so this completes that part of the collection. Definitely happy with it.
Just a straight set of EMG 81/85 active pickups. They have battery powered preamp that boosts the signal/cuts noise. If they start sounding crap/weak the 9V battery probably needs replacing!

I just bought this guitar, got it delivered last week. It was brand new and boxed so I had to take it for a setup since they didn't set it up since it left the factory and European distribution centre but now it is ready to blaze. Such a beautiful green guitar with such a magnificent sound and comfortable to play. It is certainly lighter than my other Flying V which is a Dean Razorback V (that is a set neck guitar built out of mahogany so it weighs a tonne). You certainly can't go wrong with a pair of EMG's. Sadly I have found that issue as well with the Floyd, it just doesn't really stay in tune. I've had to unclamp the strings at the nut and tune with the machine heads every time I want to play with it (that's a hardwired habit after some years of playing, I do it with my Ibanez axes with Edge Pros etc) I enjoyed your review though and you made me aware of other potential issues although they are relatively minimal.

Kinda what yiu expect I’ve had indo made Jackson’s for 1000 quid and it was dog shit in qc sent back got the Jackson MG7 replacement and boom only thing wrong was the same fret issue but pre covid I went to see slipknot and o bought micks signature Jackson and there is absolutely no issues and that’s indo made
I can forgive quite a lot at the sub £600 price point but once over that I expect more.
Why don't they make the same guitar just without the floyd rose. 🤔
Target market I would guess mate, the sort of person who is buying a bright green V probably wants to play Lead mostly!
@@GuitarCinemaOfficial Man, If they did,i'd probably get that.
Pretty sad for a guitar in the $700-800 USD range.
I think its fairly decent for the money overall, prices have massively inflated since this video though!
It’s a pretty mediocre guitar. There’s way better options for this price.
can you list some alternatives for this price range mate?
Yes please
