Hmmm...I feel bad for saying this but I want us to have higher standards for farming games and live sim games. My time at sandrock was amazing, it had social events, interactive holidays, so many building and crafting thing to do and places to explore my entire playthrough. Tons of interactions and I was never bored.
I want all farming sims to have that. Coral island was pretty..but...I'm disappointed with that too. And in a year, after 'release' they are adding what was alread supposed to be there, and stuff sandrock has and did better, and faster.
Cozy games doesn't mean we should be bored. And the repetitive gets boring fast. They need to rely on story, social activities, good characters and new events happening over time WHILE the repetitive actions are going, and add new things to those actions and add new things to do as time progresses until a somewhat of an end game maybe over a course of years.
I don't know. Life/sim farming sims are my favorite, but action games, rpgs, are always improving and competing. I want the same for life sims.
I like the art, I like the animation, but there needs to be more happening. Games like this rely on social aspects even more so if there isn't much to do. So, you sell stuff in a store, haggle prices like reccetear, and then you farm which can get tedious quickly. is that all you can do? It feels more lik a simple tycoon game than a sim. It needs more going on, for me at least. it looks cute though.
Just to point out from what they've shown this isn't really a farming sim. It has farming but seems to be going more for more of a shop keeping exploration angle. I admit this is just my impression but the core loop seems to be more like Reccetear-esque shop keeping with some Story of Seasons type elements where you farm and explore to gather items and then use them for your shop and in some way clear the areas of "thorns" and heal the island. But it doesn't seem to be even trying to be a settle in this small town and meet all these townfolk type of farming game. This isn't meant to be Stardew or Sandrock.
Yes I know I've played home town story and reccetear and lemon cake. I just restaurant owned stuff too, but all those game had characters, social aspects, and a storyline to keep them going. It's going to get pretty boring if there is nothing going on.
Clearing areas only does so much--if they show some story content or characters I am interested for sure, don't get me wrong, it looks good, I'm just picky. Keeping an eye on it though!@@CeliriaRose
What I don't want is the My Time series to turn into just another farm sim. Sandrock really lost a lot compared to Portia because they insisted on multi-player in a single player experience.
@@TaylerBootz I dislike multiplayer altogether personally..so same.
I would be very skeptical for switch release. I'm still waiting for Coral Island for switch from the Kickstarter campaign. Had I known that the switch version would be a year+ after everyone else gets it I wouldn't have chosen that option.
I'll be waiting for release and reviews for this one. There's nothing here I can't get in any number of other farming games.
I’m not excited for this. Looks cute, but not very unique.
TBH this looks like a mobile game, i'd rather wait for Trade Tales, it's far more better with tons of features
Just saw Trade Tales and it also looks and feels very meh. I think both should be on mobile to be honest.
Yes I also have a weird feeling about this game somehow
@@princessconsuelabananahamm7480 True! I've been eyeing on Trade Tales as well
Seeing the shop stuff, my brain immediately thought of Hometown Story! This looks like it will be super fun and cute!
A better Hometown Story would be amazing
I loved hometown story but the characters and events REALLY carried that game for me. It looks like there was a very minimal social aspect/interaction so idk how we aren't supposed to get bored of just selling farm product with nothing happening
It feels a bit like Stardew/Harvest Moon meets Reccetear and I am all for it.
You know I backed it already.
Talking of shop game, have you tried Potionomics? Although, if you don't really upgrade your shop and know how to plan(and where to find ingredients) it can be a bit stressful.
I'm waiting to see more of their goals (kind of hoping for romance?) before I back it up, but I do love the art style and vibe even though it doesn't seem that different from other farming games haha. I saw that they made Spells and Secrets which I remember watching you play it but it wasn't that interesting for me to get it. We got an entire month so I'll be thinking until the very last moment haha! Thanks for your fast review of the Kickstarter though!
I LOVE this cute art style - hopefully the gameplay will match up to it!
I like the animal idea, hope they focus more on that because it's the only thing that makes them stand out. Otherwise it's just another farming game. I've tried some of their other games and other than Solarpunk which I might buy when it's coming out (I tried the demo) the rest of their stuff were pretty meh tbh. I didn't even realize all of those games were by them because they're all kinda different. I'll wait for you to review it when it's out 😂
Very excited for this game tbh! 😍😎💕
I'm not the original source for this one, but I recall reading a Reddit thread on this game and one person sharing their experiences with backing a game from the same company - it was basically red flags (they didn't deliver the game if I recall?) so would advise to be wary on this one and do some more research on the game dev's previous track record.
Yes I backed this game because it looks very cute and I love the shop part too 😊
I’m looking forward to it
I like any farm game. As long as there's no puzzles in it.
Looks cute. I’d play it 😊
I like the art style.
I wish we heard more on Meetlight : And The Secrets Of The Universe and Witchbrook, would love to know what progress they are up too oh and also hyped for Farm Folks and Light No Fire.
It looks good, its on Steam right now also with release Q2 2024, also Rokuplay usually makes some fun games.
If it is anything like fae farm I’m here for it
It's funny, just a few days ago I picked up Garden Paws on steam after I couldn't bare the buggy but enjoyable experience on the switch anymore lol! I can definitely see the influence but actually even more so from Grow: Song of the Evertree, even though they didn't mention it. Until now I'm not sure if it's a game I'd play for hour-long sessions, BUT it looks like a small enjoyable game to come back to once in a while for shorter play sessions imo! I'll keep watching it for now
It looks really cute and fun, even if it’s not really anything “new”. Definitely will play it.
Thanks for talking about this game. I was hoping you would. I think this is the first time I've seen a farming game with a shop mechanic! That's what interests me about this game. So I don't understand how people can say there is nothing new here. The forest folk and animals look cute too.
I'm thinking of backing this but I want to see the stretch goals.
You should check Trade Tales
@@princessconsuelabananahamm7480
Thank you! I had no idea about Trade Tales and it looks like the perfect game for me.
I really liked the shop running mini game in Rune Factory 4 and I love Reccetear, but I feel like I'll have to see what other features might be in the game, or how the writing is. I'll absolutely play small, super indie games if there's unique features or really engaging writing - one of the main reasons I fell in love with Recettear.
This game looks solid and I do wish them the best, I think it's good that they're focusing so much on a solid foundation instead of over-promising extra features. But for me personally, I'm not sold quite yet.
Looks really cute for sure, but I think I’ll wait for at least early access or if it goes on sale for a good amount
I'm a massive stardew fan like obsessed but I think people were being weird about the name. Just cuz it used dew in the title means nothing :/
The game itself looks...fine I'm not the biggest fan of the graphics it gives me Fae farm vibes. I think I'll only get it if it has character customization I'm kinda tired of not being able to rep myself in some of these cozy titles
I enjoyed their Stranded Sails but didn't try any of the other games they produced. I will be waiting on this one and see how it develops.
They ain't good 😂. The sorcery game is so bland and harvest life is awful. Stranded sail was okay but just okay. Smart to wait
Of course I wish them success. I'm also not a fan of Kickstarter at all. Esp when devs have had many games come out...why exactly is it okay to use our money to make it instead of their own. So if it goes south it's not a big deal for them cuz they get to keep the money. Just seems so crazy to me ppl throw their money at these things. Oh also, their game beasties is so freakin bad.
Looks cute but nothing special so far..
I had this one bookmarked for the kickstarter but when I got the email I was like "what game is this again?" watch the trailer and read the points and it really looks like it doesn't add anything to the genre. I think I'll wait for full release to decide if I'm getting it but it does appear novel enough to support it.
Also, if there's no character customization (still watching the video as I comment this) that would be a big bummer. It's 2024... to me that's the bare minimum especially for this genre.
Забавная игра. Будем ждать её выхода. :)
sugardew is like winkleje
I’m just more interested in Moonlight peaks right now.
I can see the mobile game influence in this game's design
I just want sprinklers . I had to stop fae farm because of no sprinklers! Same with sunhaven… I hateeee watering constantly
Ill happily buy a game once it's out....but not throwing money at anyone just to hope they dont fall short
Interesting! At least they are worked on by real people!
Looks too cutesy to me. The shopkeeper aspect is interesting. Does cozy have to mean they have an art style that makes it look like its aimed towards toddlers?
Not necessarily but I think it largely stems from the fact that most cozy games are built to be playable by younger audiences. A lot of them are meant to be family games that can be played by children, adults, by parents with their children, etc and as such aim for an art style that would appeal to that kind of demographic. And a lot of people seem to consistently react well to it.
Sugardew Valley niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
The game looks cute, but it looks like there are not a lot of things going on. I feel like, with the current mechanics, I will grow easily bored with the game.
I will have to wait for the stretch goals or maybe even after the game gets released before deciding whether or not I should get it.
Rokaplay have a really annoying habit of publishing unfinished games and doing the bare minimal to finish them. The fact this is yet another game on kickstarter is a tribute to how much success they've had previously. I recommend avoiding ANY company which has had multiple projects on kickstarter - it's supposed to be a starting point, not a scammy begging bowl and sadly - that's what Kickstarter has become.
On the game that has been shown, it looks like a dodgy AI cash in on story of seasons/older harvest moon games.
Beasties, harvest life are awful games. The sorcery game was meh same with stranded sails. Lou lagoon is a amazing looking game but this now makes like 3 games they currently have or had on Kickstarter that arent even out yet. No shot im giving money until the product is released
I'm definitely seeing a lot of similarities to POOT. Which um... Isn't my favorite game but others might like this better.
Stardew Valley fans just need to chill. Y'all don't have a monopoly on farm games or the word 'dew'.
This. I love Stardew Valley but holy hell do I hate it's fanbase some days. You'd think Concerned Ape invented and copyrighted anything remotely related to farming games the way that cult of people behave.
@@CeliriaRose Word to this hon. Honestly I wish Stardew Valley fanatics knew they're basically like the 'Rick and Morty' fans of the farm game genre... XD;;
THANK YOU! When the devs tried to promote their game on reddit, so many people were criticising them saying they deliberately called the game Sugardew to ride on Stardew Valley’s coat tails. Some even said they should change the name entirely. It was really appalling to watch.
@@DulyDullahan When I heard Sugardew I first thought "Mmm that sounds like a tasty honeydew melon" not "ERMAGERD STARDEW" lmao
@@kymo6343 You can't be serious. No one's first thought was honeydew, everyone's first thought was Stardew for obvious reasons. That said idc about the name, but let's not be pretentious and say the name wasn't deliberate lol. I thought Sugardrop Island was way cuter.
This is interesting, honestly the fact it may be a simpler farming game is more enticing to me than all the options other games give.
Not to big a fan of placing building anywhere you want/decorating or customized characters(probably why I didn't like games like My time at Sandrock and Stardew isn't the top farming game to me); I don't immerse myself as the character as I find it takes away from the impact of story telling and unique + memorable main characters but that's just my opinion. HM64 is my life blood and there's basically no customization there if that helps others understand.
I'd rather wait for Trade Tales, they both have shop keeping mechanics but Trade Tales have better gameplay and features
True!
True!
Feels like it's trying too hard to be Stardew Valley
Them calling this stardew island is a bit underhanded. It gives the impression that they are hoping people looking for stardew valley will buy their game by mistake.
It's one thing to take inspiration from other games, but at least come up with a unique game title.
It’s not. It’s called Sugardew Island. Stardew valley doesn’t own the rights to the word dew.
@@CeliriaRose ha. Adhd got the better of me today. Definitely thought it was stardew.
the graphics look like a mobile game to me but at least it seems like a trustworthy developer
