Thank you for your kindness. :) Chill Town definitely has room for improvement, but I genuinely enjoyed the cute Animal Crossing style gameplay but for PC. Well worth the 15 bucks IMO, as long as one understands it's early access with some bugs.
The Pal Center will come from a quest you'll get from Tutu, and he'll give you some food to use for the traps (and I think the trap recipe). Just keep working through your quests. :)
This looks like a way better version of animal crossing. I honestly don't like animal crossing, but I'm interested in this game as it seems to do many things in a much better way. And those little pets are sooooo cute! And the idle option and the ability to go to sleep to play a new day is definitely some cool features !
I will say that AC, being backed by a HUGE company with millions, is much more polished, understandably. However, Chill Town is an absolute bargain for less than 15 bucks. It does have early access bugs but is SO relaxing on PC or Steam Deck. 🥰
It's like watching Animal Crossing with slightly different skins. It's strange to me that they just copied everything!? 😁 But well, I hope they will add various things, maybe some mini-games, a lot of items, because after all, PC is more suitable for those things...
I do really like the look of this game. Very animal crossing, but with some good differences. Loving the idea of pals. I also like the concept of idle play. I enjoy crafting hobbies too, so would have this on as company while I do those. Thanks for the great review. ❤
@BuckeyeBunny I completely agree that the price point looks really good. It's on an introductory sale atm as well, so definitely going to pick it up in the next few days 😁
Thank you for the review. I liked what I saw, and glad that one can get dozens of hours out of it already so I bought it to support. Most chill scene for me was when you sat down on the bench in the night in front of the fountain, with birds on the banister. With the music, that alone is nice stress release.
The controller controls in menus was the biggest downer for me. It barely works when it does. I'm assuming on steamdeck it has this same issue. There are some windows you cant close on controller.
They're working on full controller support I know...hang in there. 🥰 They've been patching the game at least once a day, so the devs are working hard and responsive.
Chill town creators have been blocking youtuber/influencers who gives honest reviews that don’t necessarily give flowery/happy feedback…. They could have been open to the constructive criticisms and then improve the game since its still early access… but they chose to block/silence people instead 😆
I heard about one instance of that happening and am surprised and saddened by it. That being said, it is a cute game, even if it lacks some polish. Hopefully they continue updating it with the features they promised. :)
What are your graphic settings for this game? I downloaded it, and it isn't running anywhere near as smooth as this video. I have a 3080, i9, 2tb, 144hz monitors, etc. It should be able to run smoothly. Thanks in advance!
Interesting you should mention this, as I've been struggling with frame skips recently, but only on my recording/editing PC, and I can't make sense of it. It's only with my save file that has a ton of animated pals and items, so I thought it had to do with that, but my other PC doesn't display these frame drops. I have 3080s in my PC just like you. I'm wondering if this might be a game optimization issue?
If they fix the bugs and polish some things, I think Chill Town could be quite successful. It's well worth the current $15 price, but with a little TLC, I think it could be really spectacular. :)
I've been waiting for an AC:NH like game to play on PC, and this is the closest looking game yet! However, it does look rather jank (I haven't played it yet) and it's only single player? One thing I think would help games like these would be mini-games, like in AC:NL and the original AC game. Found your review through Steam. Thank you.
I mean, I see where you're coming from about the "jank," as the animations, scale of objects, and graphics aren't the greatest...but until some large gaming studio makes something closer to ACNH for PC, this is honestly one of the best emulations, especially for the price. I do hope it continues to improve. :)
You know WHY you're looking for another game "like animal crossing"? Because Animal Crossing New Horizons actually SUCKS. It's pretty, it has some interesting features like terraforming, but it only goes so far before you're bored. There is soooo much stuff missing when you compare it to New Leaf, some of the furniture series we do have in New Horizons aren't even complete - take the "log" furniture for example - no matching storage, which did exist in New Leaf. The pumpkin series... no bed, again no matching storage (and not even a door decoration!) It seriously needs a 3.0 more than any other game, a proper quality of life update!
ACNH was pretty awesome with the terraforming, and during Covid, I played SOOO much of it. I just get bored of games easily but loved ACNH so much that I use it to measure new life/farming sims. I want something like it but that also offers something unique. I did enjoy the various Animal Crossing games over the past decade though. :)
The only thing that burnt me out in ACNH was the lack of post game content. There’s only one major paid dlc and that’s it. Other than that, ACNH is an amazing and an addictive life sims.
You can talk with the villagers, but currently, they don't have much variety in their dialogue. I know the team has a lot of features to add eventually though, so I'm guessing there's more to come with dialogue too.
@@iAMNinjaDarkoviaCurrently humans, but I know some of the skins will be changing a bit and are just placeholders right now. There are also pets and pals, so I think they'll likely keep the villagers as people for clearer differentiation.
I haven't. I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I've never really loved Disney characters, so I just couldn't get excited about the style of that game.
Palia IS a great game and FREE and on console too, but I guess it's the overall look and inability to grow your own town/island that to me makes it less like Animal Crossing than Dinkum or Chill Town. It's a very relaxing exploration game though. 😊
I think many use AC as a comparison because it was SO different and incredibly well-liked. It's like the bar many of us set when trying out new life sims and helps others searching for games similar to AC. It's like when people search for "games like Minecraft," etc. When something becomes a symbol of "greatness" in a genre, people want more of it in slightly different forms. Just my two cents. :)

Thank you so very much for this video!
Thx for sharing - I’m so glad it works on Steam Deck, which is how I play. I might check it out.
It's not verified for Steam Deck as far as I know, but the devs said it's playable aside from possibly having some text difficult to read.
It’s virtually unplayable for me on steam Deck.
@@ericabowen3931Oh really? That’s a shame. Why so? Performance or controls or something else?
How did you access your tools. I can’t figure it out. I’m playing on Steam.
Thank you for putting out an actual, honest review. Some content creators could learn a lot from you.

Fantastic video - thank you! I know you spent a long time on this - it's so helpful!
You're very welcome, and thank you! 🥰
How do you get a pall center en recipi for pall traps. I hardly see any palls and i dont see a quest or pall center.

This is not chill town, the characters' faces are very scary

@@BuckeyeBunny Yeah it definitely seems like they need to optimize a lot. Hopefully this will get addressed in a future update... But It's still fun!
Loving it so far! I can't seem to figure out how to get a Passport to travel to other islands. Do we have to complete the donation quest first?
It's in the beginning quests in the first few days...I don't remember which one, but I don't think it's the 15,000 to TuTu.
I so need this on switch even tho I bought it for pc.
looks like a really cute game! hope it can get a big following and port!

hi I played this game on my stem deck
Nice! I know it's not verified for Deck but works, some people have to set up custom controls for it though.
How did it play on Steam Deck. I know a few commenters here say it isn’t working well.

@@BuckeyeBunny yeah I know right. It’s kinda baffling that they didn’t continue supporting this game anymore ):
Looks like a great game like it says….chilled!
Looks like this game won the poll too! I voted for it. Can't wait to see some gameplay. It's sooooo cute! 😍 I need this on the switch right now.
LOL, yep, it's definitely a cute game. I'm not sure it will ever port to Switch, y'all have Animal Crossing for that. 😁
I really wish this comes to PS5 or Nintendo Switch! are there villagers in the game that you can interact with like in Animal Crossing?
You can talk with the villagers, but currently, they don't have much variety in their dialogue. I know the team has a lot of features to add eventually though, so I'm guessing there's more to come with dialogue too.
@@BuckeyeBunny are the villagers humans or anthropomorphic animals like in ACNH?

I usually love life sims but I’m not a huge fan of the graphics. Might give it a try when it goes on sale. Ty for sharing though!
I've heard several comments about the lighting and overall aesthetic...to each their own. Appreciate you giving it a look. 😊
@@BuckeyeBunny Of course! Enjoy the game! 😁
Does anyone know if it works on ROG Ally?
I do know of at least one person who says it works on the Ally. I can attest to it working on Steam Deck and PC personally.
