Never buy expensive scooters - when the battery is gone, you must throw the whole thing away, unlike phones.
Segway actually has service centers around the country. If you get a hold of them, they will troubleshoot over the phone. You can always take a piece of your scooter off and mail it to them for diagnostics or replacement. Segway has great service from my experience. Never another Segway. Terrible battery life. Within a year, battery won't charge - green when connected. Nowhere to service, no way to service. No, I don't live in Galapagos, I live in California.
I live in Michigan and there is a service center located within the state. I’ve been there, great people.

Generally it's not recommended. It is a solid scooter and I weigh 200lbs.
