We would recommend a combination lock IN ADDITION TO other locks. That type of lock should not be used on its own, as thieves will be able to crack it in minutes. All locks are deterrents, so we’d recommend having at least 2-3 locks if locking up your scooter outside during the day.

I bought the most folding convenient scooter so I would almost never have to lock it... But if I have to set it down for a moment I have an electronic lock and a Kensington lock... If it's good enough to keep someone from walking off with a laptop then it will keep someone from just walking off with my scooter as well .. and the alarm will make sure I know about it.
Call it primitive, but I purchased a really thick 2ft chain and lock from Home Depot that's able to fit through my back wheel and easily wraps around a utility pole.
Wirelocks are absolute garbage. Any crackhead with pair of bolt cutters, even the shortest kind, will be able to steal your stuff in seconds. Kryptonite makes some exceptional cut resistant locks. Asus Bordo Alarm is another excellent option.
It's really sad to see how many bad people with malicious intents walk around the earth. Just got my Xiaomi Mi 1S stolen in Vienna, locked around the handlebar stem - a big mistake.
It really is! We’d recommend using more than one lock (different kinds if possible) to increase the safety and security of your device. Even taking your scooter with you indoors is a good option as well.🤠
Hello, nice video. I have a problem, maybe you know how to solve it? I locked my scooter with the app, then accidentally deleted the app, reinstalled and now i can not connect to the scooter anymore, what can I do? I always see a message, turn on the scooter and try again. Thank you!
Hey Ricardo, sorry that you’re experiencing this issue! Try downloading the app again, select “more functions”, open up “Segway-Ninebot Lab”, and connect to Apple FindMy. If that doesn’t work, reach out to Segway Technical Support.
It may have needed to be restocked at that time, but we have a bunch in stock in-store or at segwayofontario.com! And yes, these work on the MAX G30P.🤠🛴
The best protection of a scooter against theft is to never leave it on the street not a single second go to the store take to the store Enter the building take all the buildings end!
I do *not* recommend using the electric lock with the scooter. Many scooters have been stolen that way. Very easy to perform a factory reset even while it's locked, and off one go. Usually takes less than 5 seconds.
But the question is, did they factory reset THANKS TO electric lock, or REGARDLESS of the electric lock? Because in that case why would you recommend NOT using the electric lock? It's just an additional layer of protection on top of anything else
So you're going to get groceries while also carrying your scooter? Or sit it by you while you eat inside a restaurant? You'll go to a music venue or art gallery and take your scooter inside? Good luck with those
Currently the only thing you can't do is modify it to go over 20 km/h, which is the limit for e scooters here in germany. Itll likely void your warranty though. I guess its possible there could be an issue with the mandatory liability insurance you gotta buy to use an e scooter. But who gives a shit. They probably won't even think to check. German regulations and rules are a constant thorn in my ass every day. They made fucking using cruise control illegal on e scooters last year. Having to hold that throttle down nonstop on long ass bike lanes is giving me carpal tunnel or something. And I cant risk hacking it because to get cruise control back id have to change regions and make the thing faster than 20 km/h which if I get caught doing they will fuck me up with a giant fine.
@@live688 ding ding. if I learned my mode of transport had an in-built tracker by a third party I'm not in control of I would bury it 10 feet deep in the woods
Bike rack steel is softer than best ulock steel. Cut the rack, take the lot, deal with the ulock later. BEST theft prevention is, take it everywhere so it never leaves your sight or presence, just like your phone or wallet.
All locks are seen as deterrents, so the more you use, the more resistant it will be against thieves. Also, if locking your device at night, we’d recommend taking it inside if at all possible.👍
If referring to the Ninebot MAX series scooters, you can definitely pass an E-Took lock or ABUS 402 U-Lock through the front axle without damaging it. Both locks are small enough to pass through each of the three models. However, when it comes to the F-series or other models, you’re out of luck there. - Mikey
I had my ninebot stolen from me I went for coffee inside Starbucks and they stole my electric scooter 🛵 I left it outside locked but when I came back it was gone
We’re so sorry to hear about that! That’s awful! Bike/scooter locks are seen as deterrents, so the more you have on your device, the more resistant it will be to potential thieves (we’d recommend at least 2-3 different makes), but it won’t outright prevent your scooter from being stolen in its entirety. That’s why we’d recommend bringing your device indoors with you if possible, even if it’s a short pit stop.
Does that mean Canadians are too quick to downvote or that Canadians are too backward techwise? Just want to know which way I should feel offended! Lol
Cable locks only prevent casual theft. Had a moped stolen out of a (detached) garage many years ago. Was not visible (no windows in the garage), someone in the neighborhood obviously was the culprit, they forced the garage doors open at night and used bolt cutters to make quick work of the cable. (The bike was chained around a support column in the garage) If someone is out to steal a bike, they're taking bolt cutters with them, maybe a battery powered angle grinder, and other small disassembly tools, and these locks just do not deter the thieves. However, there is some value to them, as they can deter a casual opportunist.

Ninebot Max G30P was stolen from inside a Sobey's on Friday. Its Wednesday now and Im still waiting to hear from the police so I can fill out a report. I went right away to the station and was told to go home and call a number and someone would get back to me. Well still waiting.
My Ninebot Max was secured below the wheel like shown in the video, the thief disassembled the scooter, disconnected some wires and completely bypassed my lock (New York Fahgettaboudit Mini). Took him about 10 min. If it's common knowledge to disassemble these scooters and quickly steal them then I'd say that's a serious flaw for even using this in public.
That's why I use 2 motion alarms that each scream at least 110 db and 3 locks (1 Sold Secure Diamond and 1 Sold Secure Gold) to lock up my scooter by its neck. Touch it once and it will screech and/or cutting the locks will require producing a ton of noise! In addition to that, I also cover it with a rain and sun cover that can be locked with a cable lock so thieves would not know what it is underneath after they already triggered the motion alarms by touching it!
Cheers for your question, Carlos! The link isn’t available on our website anymore because the supplier we used to frequent doesn’t offer them anymore. However, you can still get them in the U.S., but keep in mind that nowadays, most Segway-Ninebot devices utilize the Segway-Ninebot app for quick locking and other functions.
You’ll have to reach out to Segway-Ninebot, the manufacturer, at technicalsupport@segway.com with your scooter’s serial number. We’re a locally-owned, independent Segway-Ninebot retailer in Toronto (🇨🇦), so there’s only so much we can do. - Mikey
The performance, durability, and safety of e-scooters all depend on the rider and their commute. Yes, if you only had one lock along the stem of your scooter. But then again, it all depends on the situation, the potential thief/thieves, how many locks are securing your device, and which parts of the scooter your locks are tied to. - Mikey

I just used MasterLock's biggest actual lock around the angle piece, and run a cable lock through the masterlock to the bike locker. Used in conjunction with the software lock, means even with an angle grinder on the stem I retain the more expensive BATT, BMS, DRV, and internal charger. The stem and the dash can be replaced for cheap. The cops you can also give them the serial number to register it. Airtag is great two is better, two plus decoys are best, make one easy to find, and the real one inside hidden.
They could but in cities like Toronto, where there’s so much gridlock, sadly, they don’t have the proper infrastructure to support electric scooters (hence, why they’re illegal). In other cities like England, for example, they have dome-like sheds for bikes and scooters on curbs of roads, which is quite remarkable, considering how many people actually use that type of transportation overseas.
Nice! As long as you feel it protects your scooter, that’s what counts!
Wirelocks are absolute garbage. Any crackhead with pair of bolt cutters, even the shortest kind, will be able to steal your stuff in seconds. Kryptonite makes some exceptional cut resistant locks. Asus Bordo Alarm is another excellent option.
The locks that come with these scooters are SO BAD! I bought Kryptonite Evolution chainlock and that damn thing is sturdy as fuck!
I just bought a Kryptonite NewYork 1210 ulock and chain as well as a disk brake alarm.
Even taking your scooter with you indoors is a good option as well.🤠
Funny people complain of made in China products when 90% of out crap is made there I bet his house has 80% or more Chinese made products 😂.
Those locks will not slow down a thief with a portable saw I had a thick chain abs it had cut through in about 30 seconds
I just put my u lock in the tire spokes wether it’s locked to something or not the scooter isn’t gonne move much with it on there
No matter what looks you use in Vancouver BC if you leave it outside it will be stolen within minutes.

The ETOOK Folding Lock is no longer showing up. Also will this work on the Segway G30P ?
It may have needed to be restocked at that time, but we have a bunch in stock in-store or at segwayofontario.com! And yes, these work on the MAX G30P.🤠🛴
The best protection of a scooter against theft is to never leave it on the street not a single second go to the store take to the store Enter the building take all the buildings end!
Yea like you just have to push it easily
I put it in the shopping cart
Living in nyc that it is as real as it gets. Protect it at all times. They are stolen all the time here. Be careful out there.
I have been thrown out of stores for pushing or trying to use a cart so that is not always an option
@@Ace117RA ya, we had no problem one time ina store then the next time they said no
a sensor alarm does the trick too
I do *not* recommend using the electric lock with the scooter. Many scooters have been stolen that way. Very easy to perform a factory reset even while it's locked, and off one go. Usually takes less than 5 seconds.
True but do both
But the question is, did they factory reset THANKS TO electric lock, or REGARDLESS of the electric lock? Because in that case why would you recommend NOT using the electric lock? It's just an additional layer of protection on top of anything else
U lock is like the holy grail for me...for my bike. The best form of protection for my scooter is to just take it inside where ever I go lol
So you're going to get groceries while also carrying your scooter? Or sit it by you while you eat inside a restaurant? You'll go to a music venue or art gallery and take your scooter inside? Good luck with those
Im wondering if the remote control is legal to use in Germany. They are really strict in the law when it comes to “modifying” things
Why doesn't any scooter have a eyelet bolt built in for securing the frame directly??
We can only question.👀 - Mikey
WHY DONT MANUFACTURERS INSTALL ON BOARD GPS TRACKER FFS????
exactly, mine got stolen and i will most likely never see it again....
Could alienate a chunk of the customer base who are paranoid about being tracked
Please buy me a scooter for $500 I need it to be my budget does not allow I can't bring money I'm 16
Sorry but we are unable to help you out at this time. Best of luck! - Mikey
Thanks that was actually really helpful!
Edit: I just ordered a folding lock cuz of this
Amazing video, been researching buying a scooter and this has been super helpful theft prevention!
We're happy you found this helpful! :)
The tyre is the rubber. The thing that holds the rubber to the axle is the wheel. You cannot pass something through the tyre without damaging it.
Anybody that even suggests cable locks anymore instantly gets a downvote. You people really are from Canada.
My xiaomi 365 pro stolen before watching this video, it was locked by weak chain lock
We’re so sorry to hear that!
Segway should develop a tracker.
use a airtag
If I'm buying groceries or coffee my bike comes with me, or is locked to a pole and within seeing distance.
That’s smart! You can’t take chances, especially at night too! Always bring it indoors if and whenever possible. :)

My scooter is beeping when I charge it. Idk why
Best way: Buy a Scooter bag & when you go inside a building. Put it in a bag & wear it like a school bag. Kapissss!
Yeah but most of the scooters are heavy, for example xiaomi scooters weigh around 13 and 14 kg, too heavy.
@@peaceandquiet 14kg is too heavy? lmao
even my 12 years old cousin lift up 14kg easily.
PS:: When person panics and adrenaline kicks in. You will pull more then just 25kg with just one hand EASILY!
Hi,buddy just want to ask I have the segway ninebot kickstarter F40a will that remote pack fit my one. I'm willing to buy it.
Hey! The remote starter does work with the F40 :)
The link for the remote starter dosent work.
Can u please tell me what is the brand and model ?
Thanks
It’s made by M4M or more4motion.com (third-party device). We’d recommend contacting them if you choose to buy one of them. - Mikey
really i dont have idea for scooter but i buy 1 and still not using because i need to know the whole specs
Cool Video, thanks.
How TF has the company not come up with a simple lock connector???? What a joke!!
You’d have to ask Segway Inc., not us.
In addition to that, I also cover it with a rain and sun cover that can be locked with a cable lock so thieves would not know what it is underneath after they already triggered the motion alarms by touching it!
would you mind sharing which motion alarms you use? ty @@chaxologist2024
That’s a great alarm to look into! Thank you for sharing!
Where do I find the remote starter? The link doesn’t work.
What can I do if I bought a scooter on eBay but they sold it to me already locked what can I do?
You’ll have to reach out to Segway-Ninebot, the manufacturer, at technicalsupport@segway.com with your scooter’s serial number. We’re a locally-owned, independent Segway-Ninebot retailer in Toronto (🇨🇦), so there’s only so much we can do. - Mikey
these are not scooters but a death trap, ive seen load of casualty's and even deaths, do not by e scooters if you like living a long life
The performance, durability, and safety of e-scooters all depend on the rider and their commute. Every person is different but also, it’s important to take the proper safety precautions as well: Always wear a helmet, go a reasonable speed, obey all traffic laws according to your local jurisdiction, and watch out for pedestrians. - Mikey
Nice video 👍🏼 Would you share a link to the remote starter?
Absolutely! There is a link in the video description :)

Can someone just unscew the handlebar of and slip the scooter out of the lock?
Yes, if you only had one lock along the stem of your scooter. But then again, it all depends on the situation, the potential thief/thieves, how many locks are securing your device, and which parts of the scooter your locks are tied to. - Mikey
You ''forgot'' to mention that by locking the scooter with the remote controller, the scooter's break light, keeps going ON and OFF... I think you just made an AD and you didn't mentioning the negatives of the remote controller...
Put a pet gps i side the frame 😁. You charge it every 3 days or so.
That’s a good idea! Always good to pair it with at least a couple locks too! - Mikey
What's the point when you just showed how easy it is to remove the top part handle bar? Literally 4 screws.
I ride mines inside buildings because people think it's a handicap scooter
We don’t recommend riding your scooter in a building like that, as it can be a safety hazard to people inside. Stay safe! - Mikey
my scooter still in that mode locked 3:30 later to apply this lock system in the street , i can't unblock the wheel... i contact with segway but they say that they can't give to me tecnical support because the country where i am this moment they dont works... just the united states.... later i try to disconet the segway to my account an later conect but dont change or unstall and reinstall the app but nothings works. Have you try flashing other firmware?
I had to try a few times to unlock it to. Kept saying bluetooth was disconected.
@@mehshutup3041 hi! Thanks! Yeah bro! Power ciclying your phones & vehicles might help " and the region in the apps says region unknown and don't left select other because don't show other regions. But I don't know other method to give flash without touch the chip directly.
I have an hiboy scooter, and leave it on and locked by the app for 8 hours, and notice no battery drain. but need a physical lock, thanks for reccomendations.

I am an Australian in Australia. Recent owner of G30l.
Thankyou. Really little or no information or help here!
Required a mobility scooter but with seat, escooter was less than 10% cost affordable and only option.
How can I acquire the remote device you demonstrated? Please !
Good tips!! ☝️
Maybe a bag or those backpack style ones.
remote starter is just cheat yourself. nothing is easier than unscrew 4 screws and unplug a cable.
Why cant we get paid safe parking for electric scooters? Especially in bigger stores. They could implement it overnight.
Anyways, cheers to something like this happening in the future! 😅 - Mikey
