Dude! You need to check out Invincible and Descending from Tools latest album "Fear Inoculum"(2019). I know many Tool fans will say that Lateralus is the best song, and honestly it might be, but I think Invincible and Descending are strong contemporarys.
My dad's generation had Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I grew up listening to these great rock bands. And then came Tool. This is the Led Zep/Pink Floyd of our time. The attention to detail, creativity, the musicianship, the songwriting, the lyrics, the production, all is at a top level. Many say you don't just listen to Tool. Tool is an experience. And it became my favorite and most influencial band, for over 20 years now. Welcome to the club!

I was a metal head when I was a teenager and my bf at the time loved Tool but I couldn't get into them and found I preferred A perfect circle. Fast forward 18 years to 2020, I saw the Okeefe music foundation cover of 46 & 2 and was blown away. Needless to say, I deep dived Tool and now love them and Puscifer too.

Furthermore, the time signatures sort of revolve around 9/8/7 which could be argued to have a spiraling feeling. They didn't have to do that, but they did lol. Personally, I don't try to count out their songs even though I'm a musician, they just flow so natural in their weird signatures it's a real achievement

Just finished watching this video, and if I may, I'd like to suggest that you sit with these songs, any songs that bring you to a place of introspection, not just Tool, though they'll do that a lot for you, and (on your second, third, or eighth listen) just write down little bullet points of what comes to mind in that moment. Don't worry if it doesn't make sense or sounds goofy, just write it down and when you're out of that song's scope, look back at all you wrote and try to sit with those words and find the reason why they showed up in your mind. That's enlightenment, in my eyes. I think each and every one of us has the answers within, we're just often too afraid to go looking for them or quite simply don't know where to start.

Culling Voices from Tool's last album is my favorite atm. The whole Fear Inoculum album became my favorite of theirs after giving it a few listens.
