- The last time we checked in on Patrick Baldwin in late December, he was coming off a challenging stretch of non-conference action, with poor showings against the likes of Florida, Colorado and Rhode Island, the best teams Milwaukee will face this season. Since then, things have gone from bad to worse, as he's missed significant time with a troublesome ankle injury and COVID-19, while continuing to struggle in Horizon League action, shooting just 28% from the field with more than twice as many turnovers as assists since the start of the calendar year. His team has been statistically better with him off the floor than on it, as they haven't won a game in league play with him in the starting lineup, while going 6-4 without him, a troubling development for a player thought to be a significant difference maker at the mid-major level and once a projected top-10 pick when the season started.
NBA teams privately sound extremely concerned about Baldwin's left ankle, which caused him to miss most of his high school senior year and is clearly not 100% based on the amount of time he's missed and the fact that he's been essentially day-to-day for the past two months. Even when healthy, watching him has been a largely miserable experience, as he's mostly settled for incredibly high degree of difficulty shots, played lackluster defense, had significant problems generating good looks for himself or others against low-level competition, and has shown a concerning lack of toughness and feel for the game, all of which is concerning to say the least. While being a top-10 pick is now likely off the table, Baldwin's status as a sure-fire first-rounder is far from certain due to his poor play, especially if his ankle doesn't receive a long-term clean bill of health from NBA doctors. Comparable players in terms of style of play, such as Jabari Parker, aren't as en vogue in today's NBA as in the past, as teams have largely gone away from these types of inefficient scorers who don't defend with toughness or make others better.
Baldwin has one last chance to salvage his season when the Horizon League championship starts at the beginning of March, if he even is able to suit up. Milwaukee will need to win four games to make the NCAA tournament, a tall task to say the least, but scouts will want to see if Baldwin can at least show more urgency than the extreme level of apathy he's mostly displayed thus far. Baldwin will likely look better in the pre-draft process, where teams will see a 6-10, strong-framed, dynamic shot-maker who is still only 19 years old in individual workouts and wonder just how far a talented prospect like this should fall before he's worth rolling the dice on. Baldwin will likely come prepared with a long list of mitigating circumstances to explain away his disastrous season, but the damage he's caused his draft stock thus far may be hard to reverse at this point. - Jonathan Givony

How insane it is to still have your core guys, but still can create an entire different starting lineup from your young guys
They are basically rebuilding with a young version of their current lineup. Think about it, Poole is a mini Steph, he demands attention just like Steph.
Moody is a sniper! He will replace Klay eventually.
Kuminga can be an all star wing, to eventually replace wiggs.
PBJ has the intellect and court vision to be a point forward like Draymond.
And Wisemen is an upgrade for Looney. I pray they keep these guys together and develop them right.

Looks promising, feels like a good fit for the warriors. Another great shooter, should become even better with Curry, Thompson, and the coaching staff around him. And his size is something we desperately need👏👏👏
Ngl he will be a great addition but he needs to get crafty before he becomes an NBA threat since he doesn’t seem to be very explosive…….but with a crafty master like Jordan Poole he could easily be better than luka

But tbh we don’t really need much to improve our offense… he seems to be a great wing shooter, so if he could act like a Horford or Derrick White in the sense that Curry could draw attention and leave him open on the wing, we’ll be set. But he seems to be able to shoot from practically anywhere!
The future at Golden State looks bright. This guy will develop within the next 2-3 years and become a threat with Poole, Kuminga, Wiseman, and Moody.

he's not a big man and he doesn't play defense, plus he's a much worse shooter than his reputation suggests.

@@arnaldomartinez7695 he's 6'9 and just because you are tall doesn't mean you are a big, he's never played a position in the front court lower than the 3 in his life. What the warriors need going into next season is young players who can contribute immediately, Baldwin is simply not that guy, EJ Liddell would have been an infinitely better pick because he can fill the hole that Otto Porter is leaving in the rotation when he leaves in free agency. Also Wiggins always had the tools defensively to guard 1-4 on top of being a menace defensively in college and high school but Baldwin lacks lateral quickness or a defined ideal role defensively because he has never excelled on or off the ball at the high school or college level. Baldwin is known as a shooter but he hasn't really proved he can be efficient, in my eyes the skill in his bag that has the most upside is his connective passing, that will likely be the biggest thing the Warriors coaching staff will work on opening up in his game.

We already have Wiseman and crossing fingers we can get back Looney, and having him with the big man rotation will be good for the Warriors. Having another big who can shoot from outside, something that Lonney can't do, specially in the pick n roll will be great with Steph. We don't need him to be a huge impact right away, we won the championship without him, but a decent game with good minutes will make a huge difference. At the end I was rooting for Nikola Jovic for the Warriors but the Heat took him the pick before, but Im still happy with this pick.

@@josephigbeare6112 try to get into a professional league and get noticed. It depends on your height and skill. Say if your 6'5 be a guard mostly a point guard as you will be bigger and will be looked at with higher upside than a 6'2 guard.

Hopefully he develops nice in the Warriors system. For a rookie, just hustling and passing nicely and defense with effort is the best you can give for a dynasty team like the Warriors in the regular season.
