- Ivey is the most electric guard in college, possessing the type of extra gear-changing speeds in the open floor that few NBA players possess. He also has gradually emerged as a more consistent force in Purdue's half-court offense, doing a better job of harnessing his explosiveness, picking his spots and making others better, even if his decision-making still leaves something to be desired at times. Ivey also has improved his perimeter shooting, considered the weaker part of his game earlier in his career, hitting 36% of his 3-pointers this season.
He can be a playmaker defensively when engaged, thanks to his huge wingspan and impressive lateral quickness, but he loses his focus frequently and has too many bad moments falling asleep off the ball. NBA teams will want to see how Ivey steps up the plate and delivers for Purdue in high-leverage moments in what will be the most important games he has played in his college career, especially with the ball in his hands, provided Purdue's coaches trust him enough to give him the keys. -- Jonathan Givony

i wathced almost every game he played and he is awesome. what standds out to me more than anything is that he plays better late in games when you really need it and he is a big shot maker.

This video is soo long! And every play is ridiculous. I know his game will translate to the nba, but I just can’t wait to see it. Wonder if he or Cade will have the ball more. They’re both smart with the ball and good decision makers. I think Ivey will be shooting guard and Cade will bring the ball up. Ivey looks like he would be a great at playing off the ball if he had to, I’m not so sure that Cade would excel without the ball
He has that Wade, Westbrook and Jordan driving ability should go 1#. Has pretty good defense also!!
I also like him better than no defense green. Same type of athlete but more of a winning skill set!!

That's pretty good for a college guard on an actually good team. Most of the leaders tend to be bigs or short guards who play in bad conferences on bad teams and just chuck up shots. They also tend to be juniors or seniors and he's only a sophomore

Let's talk about his cons since everybody is talking about his pros. #1 He's really going to have to work on his shot mechanics. He has a very flat and mechanically flawed release that's too low and he doesn't have great positioning on his set. But these things can be worked on because they are fixable but his FT% in college worries me about his touch from outside. Also, what is his true position? Is he a point, is he a SG? Either way, he's probably going to be the first or second guard taken in the draft. Athletically he's on the same level as Ja Morant, Ant Man or Jalen Green and he will at some point be a great finisher ala' MJ with his HUGE hands, so with the spacing and pick-n-roll dominant defense he's going to feast going downhill and shooting spot-ups. He definitely gotta work on his shooting big-time though.
Check out the eFG% of Paolo and Jabari for this year and you'll see that he's shooting on their level - even though guards usually shoot at a lower eFG% than other positions. This year, his position was combo guard.
His shooting has already improved and shooting is historically one thing that can be improved the most
What about Defense?
His shot looked much cleaner in recent Workout videos although there's still work to do. As for his ft% it's not the worse and you don't need great touch to necessarily be a good outside shooter, look at someone like jalen brown. And finally his position doesn't matter too much, there are plenty of elite or good teams who are starting "Point guards" who aren't actually great floor generals like the raptors with fvv or celtics with smart or nuggets with jamal murray. As basketball becomes more positionless teams are starting to get their creation from all 5 spots and not just their pointguard

Lol I think he will improve because he's the son of a coach...I hope he doesn't end up in Sac Town but I love his upside on defense and the fact he will probably be the fastest player end to end in the NBA when he takes the court. His speed is game changing and if he plays the 2 besides Green, Lavine and Ant Man he won't have many peers. The best players are usually the most athletic and you can teach shooting so I think he will be fine
