I was born in the '50s and grew up in the '60s, and I constantly saw men in my community wearing hats to the office, church, and family get-togethers. I love wearing hats. Thanks for sharing this video!
I own over 15 boaters and wide Fedoras together. It's definitely a part of my personality and who i am ❤❤❤I will continue to wear my hats until my last breath.....my two favorite hat stores, Magill Hat Manufacturing Inc and JJ Hat Center...stay bless everyone.....
I want that Fadora hat so bad I’m getting one soon also. My uncle you to rock the Dobbs and derby hats he was fresh everyday had a real OG style he like 77 and still stay fly
Love it….I’ve been rocking my grandfather’s fedora for years! And purchased a couple of my own….now that I’m officially above the 60 mark, I wear a hat for function, warmth in the winter, and to keep the sun at bay during the hot months…hats are essential to us OLDER,OG’S
I'm a 60 year old, white, American man, and I still wear hats. My everyday hat is a navy blue Greek fishermans cap. I also smoke cigars, tobacco pipes, and drink Scotch. You've got outstanding content, my friend. Mark ASMR Cigar Lounge
Bespoke hats are my go to when I’m out and about. I got into hats in my late 20’s and now I’m almost 56 and usually never go out without one. However, I just purchased three flat caps and really do like the style and how they do accentuate what I am wearing. My fedora is a GREAT all around style that should be a part of any man’s wardrobe. Cheers
Great video Jeff I wear a wide brim hat everytime I wear a suit and tie. It just completes and compliments the outfit. As far as celebrities who frequently wear hats, you've got to remember Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. They were sharp, in their suits and hats!! People say that I resemble them when I wear my suits and hats.
The Kennedy look was popular. My hat of choice is the baseball cap. Second, the beret, third, ski cap. Thanks for a great video. PS - I love the Panama and Fedora, but I can't get myself to wear them.
Great topic. I rocked a fedora style for years until the baseball caps took over in eighties and nineties. I had tennis hats in 70s. Also loved straw hats. The short brims are popular, but don't provide good eye protection. Hats disguise baldness and give a youthful look as well to the players!
Hat Squad! lol I have a great wool flat cap I wear in the colder seasons and a nice straw panama hat I keep at work. Every time I have a break and go for a walk to get a coffee or snack… I use it during my stroll. It gives me confidence and surprisingly gets me more engaging interactions with people I meet and see. Highly recommend wearing hats for more regular occasions.
Style OG, I have been rocking the Homburg and Porkpie hats for years. I saw my Grandfather during the early 70s never leave the house without a hat; that man was Class Personified. I was always an old soul and my style (once I was able to financially procure my own style) was always in the style of what I saw as a lad. Hats NEVER went out of style for me....and never will, my brotha. Thank you for bringing this to light.
I'm happy you covered this topic....... I just talked to my wife about this very same thing. But also suits are now disappearing with the under 40 men. I love the Fedora and have my own personal collection and I've never recieved more complements when I'm wearing them with my double or single brested 120 suits.......
This is historically correct. You hit on all contributing points. Hats no longer became practical or generationally fashionable. By the way, you're killing that hat. Not everyone can pull those off.
Great video! I enjoy wearing hats. My go to is the beanie since it’s both fashionable and functional. My father used to wear fedoras with a feather in them back in the 70s. He called the hat his ‘sky’. lol😂
I really appreciate this video. I feel like I've been waiting on it for a couple of years. I own about 75+ fedoras, skimmers, homburgs and derbies. I've always felt like my outfit was incomplete without one and the accessibility of hats online really helped to build my collection. To your point, it takes a bit of confidence to pull it off because you will stand out and catch stares, but it's all good! Great episode!
Great content. I’m a member of the hat squad and currently own 12 hats with three coming in February with a trip to London and shopping at Lock & Co. Hatters. Much love from Detroit.
I think it's also that hats used to functionally go with and style those older outfits. They used to complete them, but these days, it's just not like that anymore and I feel in some sense it's because people forgot how to style themselves around hats. I personally have very long hair, so it's either tie it up and style it with hat. But there's so many hat personalities people can present. That simple cold environment/athletic wear, topped with a beanie is always a chill, familiar look. A classic black snapback with a black shirt and a bit gold jewellery feels timeless, sharp, yet relaxed. A bucket hat with a colourful button up says laidback and fun. A leather rancher hat, with a duster or flanel is such a unique fit that demands attention and tells everyone who the law is. And a blazer or suit complete with a trilby or a fedora screams elegance and class. Also, your fit is absolutely on point. A hat that matches the outfit for colour, it flows perfectly, people seem to often forget that a hat should compliment everything else that's going on not fight it.
I wear snap backs daily, a beanie in winter, one I have had since the 80's. I also have a homberg, pork pie, bowler for special occasions and a wide brim fishing hat for summer.
For me, my running down the hat rabbit hole was a bit like trying to find a holster that you like. Even the littlest bit of a difference can actually be a lot. I started off with fedoras, then a derby, then flat caps, newsboy cap, an Irish walking hat, beret. It is./was fun. They gp with some waistcoats that I bought too. Along with a vintage pocket watch. Also, I am so tiered of seeing grown men walk around in public with pajamas on! I always keep my bartenders/ waitresses guessing! Salute! Happy New Year!
I never stopped wearing hats and never leave the house without one. I have a collection of fedoras, panamas, flat caps, newsboy caps and baseball caps. They are an integral part of my wardrobe. They are very practical as well. Last time I checked it still gets cold outside. People are still wearing coats, gloves and scarves so why not include a hat too?
I wear an ivy cap. It's to keep the sun out of my eyes while driving, because I do not wear sunglasses, ever. I can move it as I need to in order to block the sun. I match ivy cap to coat or clothing color, and generally only fall into winter and early spring.
I still wear hats daily, I have a Fedora to match every outfit in my wardrobe and have several Apple hats as well, great topic and you hit on things I never thought of Salute
Good video.I have a good collection of hats but rarely wear them. I live in a super casual southwest city where people dress like crap all the time. It’s a style desert where wearing a tie is seen as being overly formal and a pocket square blows people’s minds. Now that I’m retired, I plan on wearing my hats more often and won’t care what others think.
I still rock them and in various styles maybe I’m self conscious about my baldness coupled with the shape of my head. They work for me and add to my own personal style
All points on check! I started wearing fedora hat around 2006. At first it was panama straw hat in summer, than felt fedora hat in late 2006. I wore it for 2 or 3 years until 2008 or 2009. Hat is a nice headgear to wear in cool weather. It protects you from cold and elements like rain. It is more formal headgear than beanie. It goes very well with a suit. Since most people started to wear casually since mid 20 century it lost it's appeal. In formal or semiformal occasions I could rock a newsboy cap, trilby or a fedora, . I would wear fedora with a blazer or a sports coat and especially with formal suit, but not with casual outfits like casual jackets. And when I wear hats my ears are exposed to cold. So in very cold weather I usually wear beanie to protects ears from cold. But in cold in more formal occasions with a blazer, sport coat or suit, I would rock a classic hat like newsboy hat, trilby or a fedora hat. Summer is of course for panama straw hat.
I like your content. However, I really enjoy when you infuse history into the narrative. This video was on-point. I really like hats. Actually, I wore baseball caps often until I let my hair grow longer. Thus, I don't want to groom it and allow the hat to mess it up!!! Grooming my hair is a chore!!! LOL!!!. On the other hand, however, I just don't know where to start with choosing dress hats. Thanks for giving some pointers. I will use them and, at the same time, figure out how to rock a hat on my lengthening hair. Keep up the good work.
I love hats, I’m wearing one in my photo. Hats are a great conversation starter with people, it’s something they don’t see every day outside of a baseball cap.
I didn't stop wearing hats, I STARTED wearing hats two years ago, when I shaved my head. I've got sun hats for summer. I''ve flat caps, Greek fisherman's caps, and Irish waking hats for winter.
This video is so right on time! I've always wanted to start wearing Fedoras, so I can stand out from the crowd. Just need to know where we can get quality ,affordable hats.
I love hats, always have. When I had hair, and especially now that I don't. I'm fair skinned, so they provide invaluable sun protection for me, but also provide plenty of style for different occasions. Scally caps are my go-to, for most occasions, as a good one from Boston Scally can work in business casual, to fully casual and far between. For more formal, sunnier or colder weather, I rock a felt or pelt fedora to provide more protection from the elements and to go with a wool coat or light jacket. For summer sporting events, it's a ball cap or a beanie for winter sporting events. Just make sure you take your time and purchase a quality fedora or scally cap that fits you properly, and always listen to that brutally honest friend if a particular hat just isn't working. Some hats like trilbies can be really cringy on many men, especially if it's cheaply made or doesn't fit perfectly.
My favorite hat makers include Goorin Bros (especially their fedoras and pork pie hats), Boston Scally for scally caps or newsie caps, Stormy Kromer for winter hats, and Churchill Ltd. for more vintage or classic styles.
They stopped wearing hats cause they don't have style..l wear hats with every outfit, it completes my look. Hats are very versatile and you can wear them with any style, they're awesome
Thanks for this. I've often wondered why hats went away. I never thought about the impact of JFK. I usually chalked it up to the rebellious 60s in general. My dad wore a hat and suit to work until he retired in 1989. In fact, he had a whole closet full of hats/ fedoras.

I been wearing a Hat for about 30 years, it's been an Australiana Style Hat (Outback) or a Fedora as I'm Light sanative in the eyes also Bald, so the Hat help me in those areas. I don't mind the Flat Cap but I very picky in what their made of. I Hate Trilby as it looks too small on my head.
I love wearing hats been all my life but more a ball cap just recently started wearing other kinds and I love ❤️ it not sure if I style them right tho lol any tips?
@TheStyleOG I am full of tattoos. Yes even on my face lol what type of hat 👒 or nice look do you say would suit me? Or just try all see what looks good lol

I have visited the JJ Hat Center in NYC and World Hats, where I bought two fedoras.

I love hats !! An associate of mine owns a hat store. Shout out to the Donny Hathaway “Apple” hat for the casual look. Thanks OG!
No problem
I never stopped wearing hats and never leave the house without one. I have a collection of fedoras, panamas, flat caps, newsboy caps and baseball caps. They are an integral part of my wardrobe.
They are very practical as well. Last time I checked it still gets cold outside. People are still wearing coats, gloves and scarves so why not include a hat too?

Looking good Uncle. Love this hat👑👑👑💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾 Happy New Year sir
Salute! Happy New Year to you too.
First it's suspenders and not belts, now its hats. I saw these 2 subjects discussed by my man Proff, from the Askokey channel, Interesting!
Great history lesson!

I Always wear a hat. A beanie or a wool flat cap or newboy cap on winter an baseball cap or trucker cap on spring and summer
No ties I’m good with that but the Panama hat is a must
Great history lesson that is very informative, but it’s time to bring the hat game back to save fashion 👍🏾 . Big Salute for that topic.
That hat is filthy O.G.🔥, also, the beard is on point, it’s thicker and fuller and the best it’s looked in a longggg time💯.
I love hats, I’m wearing one in my photo. Hats are a great conversation starter with people, it’s something they don’t see every day outside of a baseball cap.

affordable ones like the one I have on in the video from Amazon. check the link in the description
I recently decided to ditch earring baseball caps so often and start wearing more full brimmed hats & caps

Thanks for this. I've often wondered why hats went away. I never thought about the impact of JFK. I usually chalked it up to the rebellious 60s in general. My dad wore a hat and suit to work until he retired in 1989. In fact, he had a whole closet full of hats/ fedoras.
Appreciate the input!
Looking sharp in that outfit ,my kind of video I wear all types of hats, thank you God bless you sir
Not to mention the jherri curl era this video is so true I don't wear a lot of hats I'm more into my natural hair
Ha!
That hat you are wearing reminds me of my pops back in the day 👊🏾💪🏾
Nice!
Love it!! 💜💜
Salute all facts
Excellent!
Danbury Connecticut… home of the hat!
OG I see a history channel in your future, salute!
Perhaps! salute
My dad wore a hat all his life!
Mine too!
Wise man!
I own four fedoras that I have purchased over the years. I was interested in wearing them by looking at some family relatives wearing them with style and, lastly, seeing saxophonist Lester Young wearing his trademark Porkpie Hat.
Very cool!
OG, what do you think about Kangols? I love those been rocking for over 20 years
Appreciate cha OG
Salute!
My boy look like he bout to start a Zoot suit riot 😂
Love that Lincoln !!
Classic!
Yes also Born in the "50's" and Hats were always Stylish 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Frank Sinatra’s had became so iconic that when the watch company Bulova(who sponsored Frank Sinatra’s TV show in the 1950s) made a collection of watches based on him and named after his songs, the fedora was added into the design of every one of the watches in the collection sometimes on the crown, but also as the 12 o’clock marker
Good stuff!
I have "Fly me to the moon" watch ;)
@ I have My Way with the black dial
...well done Jeff!!!
My man!
I have about 15-20 hats, mixture of fedoras, cowboy and paperboy hats…
Sometimes a fedora can flatter up something as simple as a Nike sweatsuit
I was born in 2000s. All my life until now (24) I wore street ware and casual clothes. Now in 2025 I want a more dapper style. I got one wide brim hat, now I want suspenders, bow ties, fedoras, suits, and what not.

I will always appreciate a good hat 🎩
I never leave the house without a hat or flat cap. 🤠
I'm from Jamaica 🇯🇲. Where do you shop for your suits? I rather the thick materials.
I love wearing hats been all my life but more a ball cap just recently started wearing other kinds and I love ❤️ it not sure if I style them right tho lol any tips?
Keep experimenting and find what works for you!
@TheStyleOG I am full of tattoos. Yes even on my face lol what type of hat 👒 or nice look do you say would suit me? Or just try all see what looks good lol
I definitely rock hats. My lady has hooked me up with some very nice hats
I currently only wear baseball caps. I take my style semi-seriously but I never have felt sure enough to step out of that zone of hats. I feel like these days wearing a different kind of hat is a big risk, because it has to be done right, or you look silly and are judged.
give it a shot and see how you feel!
I had been ridiculed for wearing a fedora in the past, today, I get asked where I purchased them from.
Great video
Alpha M says on his channel that fedoras are out of style and men shouldn't be wearing them. That's what he said on his channel once before. But i still wear my fedora. I don't care what he says. I'm an O.G. he has absolutely no idea how a real O.G. dresses like.
He a girl don’t listen to him
Alpha M's opinion is 100% irrelevant. I like fedoras, therefore I wear them.
I still wear fedoras. Snap brim, wide brim, homburgs, straws.
Heres a tip:
I wear hats to add flavor and stand out. Especially in “networking” events, a hat allows me to be remembered, even when Im talking to people with more social clout.
And women complement nice hats 😉
I'm a man who will never stop wearing a hat specially my pork pie hat 😊
Grest video. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a bigger had. Size 8. I dont wear anything except baseball caps. Other hats just dont feel right on my head
Nice hat OG
You have given the most comprehensive narrative about why the hat died. Most everyone else always defaults to Kennedy alone. Thanx for the video.
I would like to think that the neckbeard "m'lady" fedora tipping meme had something to do with it lol
Don't forget about Cam Newton who has a high end hat company
Interesting video
1:10 those dudes just murdered somebody
