You do you know that US has no choice. US made Israel sign a treaty( Mutal Defense Agreement) in the conditions that Isarel will receive protection and etc.
In other words they just fufilling treaty duties. If they don't, it will set very bad precedent in the international realm. Essentially saying all TREATIES are useless and should not be fulfilled.
That's how you get World War 3 and get all countries building Nukes, when you show that the words of treaty will not be fulfilled.
