Phil, thank you for this channel. It has been a great resource for me. I started using Genetec in March, been through both stc, and otc. I continually watch this to better myself at work. Thank you!
The no 1 thing that always affects Security Desk workstation performance is this and often is not set up by integrators. Good work Phil, perhaps yo can have a follow up where you tweak the xml config file to make this work even better ;-)
@@aderuwe agree completely, there should be a wizard where you enter the size of the tiles for low, live and high resolutions and that sets the config file for you. I can't complain though as we've picked up a lot of business after optimising client machines that we didn't install 😉
I'm betting there's a cottage industry of Security Center users that have "misconfigured" systems. The sad reality is these customer end up with a terrible user experience and blame the software because they really don't know who else to blame. :(
No configuration necessary. I believe the limit is 8 monitors. All you need to do is Maximize the Security Center application and it will spread across all screens.
That could be caused by a number of issues. Could be that the user doesn’t have the right permissions. Could be a problem with the workstation. I recommend contacting Genetec support or your local engineering resource.
@@theinsidetrack I've read in SC documentation in camera settings- network connection, the option of best available cannot be multicast for recording? Does that mean i have to use multiple streams? Also in multicast does security desks join the multicast groups for live view automatically on camera selection? Or what?
@@Mhd572 this is sophisticated solution when you start talking about multicast. Your best bet is to get Genetec support or a local sales engineer involved
This just fixed an issue I was having at an enterprise level site. Thank you!

Excellent video Phil. Great work!
Yes absolutely!! Copy configuration is your friend for setting this up on a new install with many same model cameras.
I should probably do an episode on the copy configuration tool...
You should do an episode on body worn cameras. I heard Axis has a very nice hardware and tight integration.
Great Idea! I will venture to get my hands on some Axis BWC's!!

I wish Config Tool had a way to push settings to Security Desk clients. Editing a config file for all workstations is kind of annoying

I'll pass this along as a feature request! Great idea!!!

Just be sure about the latest frameware of your camera to effect the configuration
How do you configure three monitors to view with Security Center?
No configuration necessary. I believe the limit is 8 monitors. All you need to do is Maximize the Security Center application and it will spread across all screens.
Hi, friend. how can the camera not turn on on the client PC

can i use only one multicast stream for both (recording and live view)? please help
By default all cameras will be configured with only one stream.
