Excellent video as well as the other one using dawn. I will be using this technique the next time for sure. I was wondering if you could do a video on adjusting the doors or, just give some tips on it? Several of my razors doors don't sit flush with the center bar, and it drives me crazy. Not sure if it affects the shave or not, just something I've always wanted to fix.
Thank you! That's a harder fix, but I may be able to walk you through it in a DM on Instagram or Messenger. Something is bent and will need to be adjusted. If you send me some pics we can figure it out together.
Another suggestion-a $5 battery operated toothbrush will multiply your stroke rate. Just need to keep it low in the sink to keep toothpaste from spraying everywhere.
@TobinsThrowback a masterclass in wet shaving maintenance class. Have you ever used an ultrasonic cleaner in the cleaning/ restoration process of revamping safety razors?
Thank you, sir! So, I have. But the problem I have found is that most aren't consistent enough at my price point or strong enough. The cleaners I'd want are the industrial ones that run between 5k and 10k. I've purchased a couple off of Amazon that were under $300 but returned them. I have found that I can do a better job than the cheaper cleaners can and in about the same amount of time. It just takes more effort on my part, but have found it to be worth it. Hope that made sense 👍👍
@Tobinsthrowbacks TYSM for the detailed explanation. I'm new to Traditional Wet Shaving and am eager to learn more about it and make friends. Videos like yours help me as a wet shaver a lot, and I thank you. I love my Gem Micromatic clog pruf razor, and if that was my first razor, I'd be happy with it. Fortunately, I tried various types of safety razors/blades, and by doing that, it improved my technique.
@jasonnyc2006 You're welcome! There is a lot of great communities in the wet shaving hobby. Shave Dad and The Phoenix Shaving fan group on Facebook are two of my favorites. 👍👍 Gems shave like a dream, I just did a video not too long ago about the Starling SE, I'm loving it!
Thanks again Tobin! You have been extremely helpful
Videos are great buddy 👍 You got a couple ahead of me. 😂 I hope you do one on using those feeler gauges to check blade gap.
Hate it when he does that to me, I get frantic 😅
