Hey everybody! Thanks for watching this video on "The Wild World of Celebrities Making Music". Since the dawn of man, those with the necessary funds have been making terrible art for everybody else to suffer to (don't fact check me on that). I've been curious about this topic for a while. Actors/TikTok stars/athletes/whatever -- getting some fame and money...and then boom: they have a new music video out. How many famous people have done this over time? Which songs are bad and which are good? Are ANY good? That's what we're talking about today. Enjoy!

And he beat Satan!
Truly, a Jack of all trades.
What about Childish Gambino? Is he Korra?
@@ndlmous 😂
Literally people just have to like you. Then they’ll support whatever you do. Cardi b proved it and now a lot of the TikToker are trying to diversify so they’re set once all the TikTok hype dies down. But it’s nothing new. The reason why Jack black went into acting was to get his name out there for his music. It’s fun to compare the different generations and how they navigate their success but societies tools and values change so there’s no point in comparing. If Bella poarch was born in Jack blacks time she probably wouldn’t be famous but the same could probably be said of Jack black if he were to be born in this generation. Metal is kinda a dying genre and half of the characters he plays would be cancelled nowadays. Fame and success aren’t guaranteed so it’s unlikely that anyone taken out of the circumstance that bred their success would still succeed. Let’s not confuse our admiration for someone with anything else
And a comedian
Brie Larson's Black Sheep actually goes mad hard been waiting for it to release on streaming services

Everyone, should know it was originally performed by Metric, a brilliant, albeit underrated Canadian band.

"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"
Regardless of talent, let people have fun with music. It's not like there is a finite limit for how much music can exist in the world. "Bad" music is not likely to take away space for "good" music, ... because it is considered bad.
But on the flipside there's nothing wrong with laughing at famous people with a big ego miserably failing because they don't realize creating music takes a specific talent
I'm sure they can handle a bit of online ridiculing
Artists are free to create music, yet audience is free to criticize artists too.
Let artists create whatever they want, yeah sure, but let people be critical of what they consume too.
these people act out of ego and "I have money and power I will do everything !" and not taking music seriously to be honest
@@TheLily97232 how do you know that? They might really love music but just not be good at it. And who says music has to be taken seriously? I'm sure there are talented people don't take music seriously either, but they don't get ragged on because they sound good and produce things people like.
I feel like it does take up space. There's only so much time and attention available. If I'm digging for some new music to listen to, I'm gonna have to filter through more crap.
Jackie Chan is a good example of a actor who is an incredible singer.
corry feldman made the album of the decade angelic 2 the core

Its so bad but i hold it dear to my heart cuz he actually sounded passionate
I think its very weird that people think creative people only ever do 1 art. I would think it would be near impossible to find a musician who hasn't been doing some form of visual art as long as theyve been doing sonic art. Im saying this as a musician who runs in many artistic circles. People who create like to create all sorts of stuff not just one. They might focus on the one they got better at than the others but.... Actors play piano...painters play guitar...dummers act in theater...singers throw ceramics...people who art...art.

Stranger Things actor Joe Keery is an insanely talented musician. His album Twenty Twenty genuinely rates in my top five albums of all time, fantastic modern psychedelic rock.

Yes
@@CaptainMizuki nah it's really really good I remember all the lyrics of his songs.
I think part of Jeremy Renner's problem is, when he was still in his up and coming stage, Renner played a musician on the TV show House. Perhaps someone told him he did a good job, and he took it too literally.
I didn’t think it was that bad it could be worse
Michael Cera also has some pretty solid production behind his belt
This is the comment I came for
1. River Phoenix was in a pretty fucking cool indie/proto-math rock band named Attica’s Attic, definitely worth checking out because he said acting was his secondary passion to music.
2. ngl? paris hilton’s album kinda banged.
3. not like, a CELEBRITY celebrity or anything, but a LOT of people don’t know that Drew Gooden is a very talented math rock guitarist.
4. both Finn Wolfhard and Gaten Matarazzo from stranger things are in pretty fucking good bands, Finn’s is Calpurnia and I can’t remember Gaten’s off the top of my head.
i’m sure i’ll remember more later.
Wait, Drew Gooden the basketball player or Drew Gooden the Danny Gonzalez clone?
wait, drew gooden like youtuber drew gooden ???
@@mananwashere yep! look up “drew gooden guitar” and watch one of the compilations or something
@@santiagobauza4257 you just named three people who are the exact same person, i don’t understand the question
Depressing fact - River was already getting attention for his guitar playing as a child in Venezuela (his family lived there briefly). That attention is probably why his parents put him on the child star path that ultimately killed him. Imagine the music he could have made if things turned out differently :(
Riz Ahmed would’ve be a fantastic addition in the tail end of this video. His work with Heems in Swet Shop Boys (Cashmere and Sufi La to name a couple) as well as on his own solo albums (Englishman and The Long Goodbye) are incredible
Yooo I was searching for this comment. Swet Shop Boys’ Aaja is legit one of my favourite bangers.
I don't think he counts; Alfo specifically ruled out celebs who are also established musicians like Jack Black and Donald Glover. Plus, Riz actually started out as a rapper, and wasn't primarily known for his acting until Four Lions came out.
There's also Taylor Momsen, a former child actress who quit acting completely to pursue music. Her band, The Pretty Reckless, is really good.
I was thinking of her as well!
Hugh Laurie of "House M.D." fame is actually a really good musician aswell!
He’s not such a weird and obscure actor turned artist - but you might be pleasantly surprised to hear about Jeff Goldblum and the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra playing some fantastic jazz classics. He’s got a lovely voice and the songs are awesome!
Yes! I was surprised when he didn't talk about him
There are very few celebrities that I would actually want to meet in person - he is at the top.
It's not my kind of music, but Seth MacFarlane is a genuinely talented big band swing singer. He made a Christmas album and it is very good, his duet of "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Sara Barielles is my favourite verison.
I’m not surprised considering how many musical bits he’s done across his time with Family Guy/American Dad voice acting.
Not uncommon for voice actors to be very good singers. So not at all surprised Seth McFarlane is one of them.
I think he's an example of the already well-known to do both section.
There's even a bunch that you missed too. Scarlett Johansson did some music, even did an album with Pete Yorn, if I remember right. Jena Malone has had a couple of different projects, currently I think she plays with a group called The Shoe. Juliette Lewis had "Julette and the Licks". Johnny Depp is in a band with Alice Cooper and Joe Perry called The Hollywood Vampires. Plus you got failed pop albums from Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and probably even more.
Can't forget the one and only Mark Wahlberg in Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch! His performances are....blinding.

Paris Hilton's pop album didn't really flop, if anything it sold really well and even gained critical acclaim. I just don't think she wanted to pursue music as a career and just wanted to have some fun.

Nicole Kidman has a singing career too. She has duetted with Robbie Williams on their cover of the Frank & Nancy Sinatra song Somethin' Stupid. She also sang in the film Moulin Rouge with Ewan McGregor, a notable duet being Come What May.
