This bridge has tons of memories for most of us Madison County, Tri City area east siders. Its great to see it reopened and with the trailnet connection.
I remember being scared out of my wits when my father would drive us to St. Louis on the outside lanes of the bridge in the early 60s before the Poplar St. bridge was open.
Rode on the street car when I was a little shit and then years later going to and from concerts in St. Louis, trippin balls. Fun, pay a quarter and home.....
Just curious. Such an old bridge. McKinley Bridge. Wear and tear. Very expansive to maintain. Why didn't they just replace it like the Old Jefferson Barracks Bridge and Daniel Boon Bridge. Both purposely imploded, wear and tear, replaced by newer modern bridges.
Drove the outside lanes in the 80's. Just once.
