Mamamoo doesn't have a fixed concept. They just make music in general regardless of genre. They do it all. They're known for their power vocals tho not gonna lie. Their vocals are top tier. You should probably check out their INTRODUCTION GUIDE 2022. They are not the typical girl group that's being controlled or whatever. They're the type to do whatever they want. They curse, they speak their mind, they write, choreograph, they win survival competition between artists etc. They actually are not just kpop idols. They're ARTISTS.

Mamamoo have the best voices and all 4 have solo albums. You started about half way through their career to their latest song 1llella. They also do a lot of Jazz, bigband, retro to the 20s up to the 60s, some rock, country and pretty much every genre. Everything they do is great. They are most known for being able to sing so well live, that they can sound their recorded music, even at the end of a 3 hour concert they still sound that good live. They have 100s of songs as a group and solos. Their current tour has the members covering each other's solos as well. If you want to cry, listen to love you too, live from Moosical, Also all of the songs from the queendom contest they won. 3 of the 4 members have active you tube channels. 2 of them started a year ago Wheein and Moonbyul and Solar who you would have seen in Pink in 1llella has had her youtube for 4 years and has a lot of content, like covers of michael jackson, lady gaga, acapella , and others. They also write some of their own songs as well as compose some of the music. Best to watch anything live or the live performance videos. Though their MVs are always good too, especially the earlier ones that seem to tell a story, like their debut Mr Ambiguous or Piano man.
Mamamoo have always had a level of maturity about their performances that almost nobody comes close to. I will stand by that even when they are having fun with songs like "Waggy" or "1cm". From vocals and stage presence there is hardly anyone that can come close. The only group that I consider to be on the same level is ()i-dle, though for different reasons.
When two songs have the same background music it's often taken from a royalty free bank.... something like that. So yeah it's not plagiarism it's just because it's free and anybody can use it!
With Mamamoo's diverse discography no doubt that they can make you feel any emotions that you can think of. My Mamamoo story: Starry Night was the first song I heard from them, and while I wasn't crazy about the song, I recognized that they were crazy good vocalists, so I started looking for one song I might like, and found a DOZEN. Now I like 40-50 songs from them, and even Starry Night has grown on me.

The best guide is that of Purple Hawke but it is not known what happened to the channel and delete the guide, they re-uploaded it to the Mooffin channel but it is already a few years old and the clips are somewhat old so I recommend you watch the one from MOO YT that It is inspired by Purple Hawke's and has more recent clips. It is divided into two parts, the first is about each member of Mamamoo and the second is about Mamamoo's history as a group.

Illella MV has subtle little references to just about every one of their previously released title tracks. You should watch it again after you've seen more. Omg! If you do a guide I really recommend "The MAMAMOO Introduction Guide of 2022" by MOO YT. Part 1 has the members and Part 2 tells their story as a group. This guide is up to date and very interesting, like a movie, part 2 is definitely worth to watch as well as it literally made me cry lol
Mamamoo, my vocal queens 👑👑👑👑 Lemme tell you when we say that their live vocals are way better than their studio recorded ones, it's wayyy better. I didn't think it was possible but I still get blown away at times now 😂❤️ When you have some more time for them, you should also react to their Killing Voice performance. You'll be able to get a feel for their group chemistry and live vocals 👍 There are also plenty of good guides out there for them, but I highly recommend Purple Hawke's guide even if it is now outdated by a few years. Also, I usually don't like comparing groups, especially GGs to BGs because it's different ya know, but I always kinda saw Mamamoo as the female equivalent of BTS. Mainly because they were both underdogs. Their companies weren't the Big 3, they were from small companies that didn't have the financial means to properly debut and promote their respective groups. So both literally at times performed their concerts for free or even in the streets, they had to do everything themselves like producing their music and even styling themselves for performances, living in less than ideal living spaces, etc. They made their way up and though Mamamoo isn't on the same level as BTS in terms of international popularity, they are still just as successful and respected in their own right.

If you want to get some dust out of your eyes I reccomend Backwoods or Road to Sampo. It's ok to have feelings, the purpose of art is to be a conduit between your existence on the surface and who you really are. Some people say they are proud that they do not cry for emotional songs. Girl about the first song where it sounds almost similar...have you heard about sample music...if not let me explain...so sample music is a bunch of music created by different artists all around the world and post it online either for money or free .. so if like the music and want it to be a part of your own song ..you can buy it from them or use it free (if they are free samples) and the fun facf is that many people can use the same music and it wont come under 'copy right " so if two different music sounds almost the same means most probably its a sample music which both the different artist bought for their songs. There are always 2 official MVs, one on MMM"s yt channel and another on a music distributor's channel such as 1theK or Stone Music Entertainment. Besides giving MMM the view, the subs are better on MMM's MV and the videos uploaded by the music dist prior to 2018 often don't have subtitles. Lots of people noticed the similarity between Starry Night and Prayer in C. They're a little different, as you noticed, but it was close enough that some people accused MMM of plagiarism. Imo it's that the guitar riff is too generic and it's my least favorite part of the song. If it bothers you enough then listen to the orchestral version of Starry Night they recorded for their 2 CD career retrospective album I Say Mamamoo: The Best. The teaser at the end of Starry Night is for Hwasa's solo song on the Yellow Flower Album called Be Calm. Starry Night was the first title track in MMM's epic four album series 4 Season 4 Color. Each album included a self-composed solo song by one of the members and the teaser for Hwasa's song was their way of introducing that concept at the beginning of the 4S4C project. Lemme tell you when we say that their live vocals are way better than their studio recorded ones, it's wayyy better. I didn't think it was possible but I still get blown away at times now 😂❤️
When you have some more time for them, you should also react to their Killing Voice performance. You'll be able to get a feel for their group chemistry and live vocals 👍 There are also plenty of good guides out there for them, but I highly recommend Purple Hawke's guide even if it is now outdated by a few years.
Also, I usually don't like comparing groups, especially GGs to BGs because it's different ya know, but I always kinda saw Mamamoo as the female equivalent of BTS. Mainly because they were both underdogs. Their companies weren't the Big 3, they were from small companies that didn't have the financial means to properly debut and promote their respective groups. So both literally at times performed their concerts for free or even in the streets, they had to do everything themselves like producing their music and even styling themselves for performances, living in less than ideal living spaces, etc. They made their way up and though Mamamoo isn't on the same level as BTS in terms of international popularity, they are still just as successful and respected in their own right.

YAY! There are more updated guides, but the Purple Hawke guide is still a solid intro to mamamoo and is incredibly well made. Highly recommend. and then you'll get to learn more about mamamoo as you go along. They're my absolute ults and the best singing group in kpop, there is SO much to love about them.

Yes the guitar sample in Starry Night sounds similar Prayer In C but it's slightly different.
Since you like Moonbyul a lot, you should check out her solo songs like Selfish, Eclipse, Snow, etc. She has two solo albums thus far and widely considered as one of the best female rappers in Kpop.

Pour les mv il y a souvent deux (1mvsur la chaîne du groupe et 1mv sur une chaîne de K-pop distribution comme 1thek) mais rien ne change du moins quand il y a pas de précision comme (vers.perf ,vers.dark etc)

Girl about the first song where it sounds almost similar...have you heard about sample music...if not let me explain...so sample music is a bunch of music created by different artists all around the world and post it online either for money or free .. so if like the music and want it to be a part of your own song ..you can buy it from them or use it free (if they are free samples) and the fun facf is that many people can use the same music and it wont come under 'copy right " so if two different music sounds almost the same means most probably its a sample music which both the different artist bought for their songs. So there's no copying, no who published it first and so on and many big artist use sample music...its common in music industry ❤

You chose the right MV for Starry Night. There are always 2 official MVs, one on MMM"s yt channel and another on a music distributor's channel such as 1theK or Stone Music Entertainment. Besides giving MMM the view, the subs are better on MMM's MV and the videos uploaded by the music dist prior to 2018 often don't have subtitles.
Lots of people noticed the similarity between Starry Night and Prayer in C. They're a little different, as you noticed, but it was close enough that some people accused MMM of plagiarism. Imo it's that the guitar riff is too generic and it's my least favorite part of the song. If it bothers you enough then listen to the orchestral version of Starry Night they recorded for their 2 CD career retrospective album I Say Mamamoo: The Best.
The teaser at the end of Starry Night is for Hwasa's solo song on the Yellow Flower Album called Be Calm. Starry Night was the first title track in MMM's epic four album series 4 Season 4 Color. Each album included a self-composed solo song by one of the members and the teaser for Hwasa's song was their way of introducing that concept at the beginning of the 4S4C project. Egotistic was the 2nd title track in 4 Season 4 Color and your crush Moonbyul was the featured member. The Red Moon album included Moonbyul's song Selfish featuring her close friend Seulgi of Red Velvet. 4 Season 4 Color is the most complex, ambitious project ever done by a girl group but I won't overwhelm you with an essay on all its concepts and symbolism. You might as well get used to their versatility. MMM doesn't stick to any particular style and they have one of the most diverse discographies I've ever heard, including everything from hip hop, latin pop, jazz and r&b to bossa nova, reggaeton, ballads, pop dance tracks and more. Mamamoo has carved out their own unique niche in kpop and many people say they're a genre unto themselves.
As you mentioned, they ooze charisma and have unique voices. MMM is considered to be the top female vocal group in kpop. Tho they're good dancers and have won group and solo dance awards they're first and foremost an all star vocal group who are best when they're live because of their amazing singing & rapping, riveting stage presence and bff team chemistry. Each member also has a successful solo career on the side - MMM was the first group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group was still active as a unit.
Definitely watch a guide asap. The two best guides are both in 2 parts - Introducing Mamamoo by Purple Hawke and the newer The Mamamoo Introduction Guide of 2022 by Moo YT. Don't stress about the length or the fact that they're two-parters - both are extremely entertaining and well-edited and they're long because there's a lot to learn about the girls. Mamamoo is one of the deepest rabbit holes and one of the most fascinating and talented groups in kpop. They've been around since 2014 so there are dozens of group and solo MVs and literally hundreds of hours of live performances available. MMM is one of if not the hardest working groups in the world. Their pre-pandemic concerts were over 4 hours long and in 2022 they released about 60 group and solo songs and covers.
Imo a good way to continue your exploration of MMM is via two live medleys, one of original songs and the other of covers.
The Dingo Killing Voice medley is a 15 min live in studio sampler of original songs from throughout their career up to 2020.
The Immortal Songs Medley is an 11 min medley of some of the cover songs they performed on the singing competition tv show Immortal Songs 2 between 2015-17. It was professionally filmed at a MMM concert in 2017 and the video was uploaded by a moomoo (Mamamoo fan) so it's safe for reactions. Mamamoo appeared on Immortal Songs 14 times between 2015-19. Each is a spectacular vocal showcase but the tv network usually blocks reactions unless you heavily filter the original vid so you might want to watch them on your own time. Highly recommended - you don't really know MMM until you've seen them on Immortal Songs.
