Love this ep. for several reasons, the 340 Demon is at the top of my list, I love the A-Body Dusters and Demons- especially in Orange, as I used to own one....thanks for calling Tony out to do a run down on it...Great Ep.

Back in 1999 I missed out on a perfect demon 340 4spd like 30k miles I mean perfect they wanted $4,000 but my dad said he was going to buy it and he figured he would let it sit for 2 weeks so he could get for $3500 I told him I was going to buy it he had a major temper tantrum told me he was the one that found it 2 weeks went by and it sold

I had the Special Edition 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 Magnum 4 barrel one of some 2700+/- made with dual hood scoops Factory Hurst 3 Spd, Orange with black SuperBee stripe and black vinyl top, factory mags. Raced a Buick 455 for 57 miles at practically sucked the paint off it at 145 mph just hitting the high spots in the road. The car was light and fast. My wire harness dry rotted and cracked and at the time was over $1000 for the harness alone. So I had to sell it. Some with dual hood scoops had cold air induction and some didn't. All had the holes in the hood, but the induction breather was a special order add on. It was just easier and more cost effective just to put it on yourself. I wish I still had it. My cousin had the same car with a 727 automatic tranny. They actually made 3 big blocks, 1 440 and 2 383's. Those 3 had the big block K member. I loved the chrome on my Dart...except I disliked the Swinger logo. I mean a flower over the i on a muscle car?

Back in 69 i had just bought a 69 Dodge Coronet 440 R/T and one day i was pulling out onto a four lane but pulling out in front of me was a cute little 340 swinger. It was the first one i ever saw and i figured i would just shoot by him as soon as we got on the highway. So as i floored it to go around , he apparently was ready for me and he floored it too. I thought i would never get around him and it took every inch of that two mile stretch before i finally edged by him. I had dusted two 426 hemi GTX's and about everything in Manassas but that little Dart swinger gave me nighhtmares for a long time and i never picked on another after that embarrassing incident. I still can't figure out what happened that day over fifty years later.

I own a 69 GTS 340 Automatic Convertible. I've owned it since 83. Original engine with original exhaust ....only changed the camshaft. .ignition...3200rpm stahl converter ...electronic ignition...cool can for fuel...3.55 gears replaced the 3.23s. Of course I'm biased in my opinion of the car but I will say that most of the people that own the 340s in the dark say the same exact thing they just they just stay nice they just drive nice they and they go good they go really good. I've erased all kinds of Big Blocks small blocks Ferrari you name it fastest I've ever had the car going was 132 mph with the tack at about 6400 RPM I think something like that racing a Corvette back then it was an 84 Corvette no it's 86 Corvette. Guy said he's never seen a brick go that fast as I said 1969 so but at the track car was good for 13 to 13 one solid 13s you know 13 second car back then was freaking very very fast back in the day so depending on you know the situation as long as I didn't f****** at the light I usually beat everyone I raised that was like I said with the stock 3:40 just a purple shaft cam.. converter what was that 355 gear well maybe a little higher than that 6400 all day long just just get the light right and go you always always one just win on the street and just an amazing engine an amazing amazing engine I don't know every time they they mess with one I I get so frustrated when this guy the owner here f**** it up or somebody blows it up or somebody broke something it's just like I swear to God the guy he hates them he got smoked by one there's no doubt in my mind this guy got f****** Smoke smoked Smoked by one
Sorry about all the run-on sentences and punctuation of that I'm driving and trying to sit this while driving so I had to focus on driving now have a good day but remember watch out for them 340s LOL the Giant Killer

In progress on my 72 Demon 340 owned since 87. Very well optioned as well. TB3 with white vinyl top and stripes, dual painted mirrors, black out performance hood with snorkel scoop, white interior and trim pack with exception of the rocker trim. P/S and PDB. Can't wait.

Only "comment" if I may is, it mite have been cool if Tony and Mark had shared a little history on the Therm o-quad, why it came to be, and what Chrysler's goal was with it. Always enjoyable, Thanks.

I 'm usually a mopar owner but in the early 90's I had a nice mark 1 ford capri ' I bought it to tidy it up and resell it for a profit 'I put a lot of effort in to fixing some rust' repainting it ang generally detailing it . I ended up really liking it and would like to have kept it' but it had to be sold because that's how I earned a living. I sold it to a young woman. A week or two later I bumped into her in town and she told me that it was crashed later on the same day she bought it(by her boyfriend who was a little bit drunk) I saw the car a few weeks later with some badly repaired accident damage and .it had been crudely re painted with silver spray cans and it looked a real mess.😡

Correction they were all Pontiac formula 4 hundreds The reason they took the hood and wing off the cars is they didn't want it too flashy that's the exact reason why he never went over to transamp there was a show about the Rockford and a lot of people asked why didn't he go to a Pontiac TA Same reason they stripped the formula it was too flashing

Superbirds & Daytonas are so valuable, but I still can’t warm up to the body style!
My first car was a 1973 Brown with White Stripe 340 Cuda with the Slap Stick Automatic Shifter, Center Console, White Interior, Rally Wheels bought new for $3,400 off the showroom floor at Valley Motors in Altoona, PA. (MSRP was at just over $4,000)
Of course it’s the one I wish I still had, but it got traded for a 1975 Trans Am. So it’s No Car
