Great work Martin. Beautiful work on the cockpit. Lots of meticulous detail when building a large scale bird.....masterfully rendered, Keep having fun. Bill.
+PanzermansBunker Thanks Bill, greatly appreciated mate! I'm bummed that it doesn't come with the three crew figures though, unlike my He 111H-22 build that did! Have a great weekend, mate! Cheers : )
she's coming together well Martin very nice prep work ill have try that new primer everyone seems to be raving on about it lately all the best mate looking forward to your next update hope all is well
+Faron Adams Thanks mate, much appreciated! That primer flows like a dream and settles down smooth and hard in no time. Within 15 minutes it was dry. I tested it prior to airbrushing and put really sticky tape on top of it and it didn't peel, and, to remove the area that I had sprayed onto a piece of plastic...I had to file off! Have a great weekend mate! Cheers : )
Glad you found the Stynylrez primer Martin,it really is great stuff,i seem to get through alot of the black primer for my sci fi model projects, your progressing well with this build!
Nice work. Surprised by all of the fit issues. Also thanks for your comments on the Stynylrez primer. I am ready to give it a try myself. I'm not too happy with the Vallejo primer. Finding it a bit too thick and not crazy about the finish. My channel update is coming soon. Cheers!
hi mate, the finish of the primer coat is fantastic 😆, it would appear that i require this product, it's the right colour for a star wars model kit i have planned, thanks for the upload, you sure know how to put a kit together amigo, RESPECT and best wishes, Tim the primered thumb 😆
Hi Martin.Great progress! Nice detail in the cockpit area.shame about that gap.Get the magic wand out lol.Looking the part now. That primer looks excellent :)
really nice update, you did some very nice work there when i see the fit issues :-( but you worked it out very nice. Looking forward for the next update
+Heybat Ha ha! They were quite big, probably the biggest gaps I've had to deal with in the last two years since I started modeling! Thanks for watching! Cheers : )
Good putty work Martin. You could get a job in a bodyshop with fuller skills like that mate. Shape the kit was gappy, but no the less impressive after you'd worked your magic tricks on her. Kutgw. Really enjoy this format
I used to think the Ju-88 was spacious inside, something like a B-17 where crew could walk around in it. Even the pictures in the books often give this impression, but now I realize I was completely mistaken about this bomber... I would not want to be stuffed inside this plane for a 4 hour flight over the Arctic while people shoot at you -
Wow . . . What a build, Martin. Filling and sanding . . . It builds character. You've done well. That greenhouse is quite huge. How was the masking? Are the frames of the canopy raised? Great video and build log! Makes me want to give it a go.
+Russell Gosselin Thanks Russell, much appreciated. Yes, the canopy sections do have slightly raised frames around the flat sections, then they get more feint around the curved surfaces. Give it a go...turn to the right side...the light side! Cheers : )
+Dominick Soldano Thanks Dominick, much appreciated. I've never used Vallejo products, only Model masters and Tamiya so cannot compare the Stynylrez to it. But, in answer to your question, I did a test with it on a ice of styrene sheet and after it had dried for an hour I stuck tape down onto it a few times ripping it off hard to see if it would lift and it didn't. I then tried to rub it, scratch it and peel it with my finger nail and it remained fast. To remove it, I had to use a sanding stick. It lays down very smooth and flat, so secondary sanding to smoothen it wasn't necessary, but it is tough enough to withstand it. Hope this answer helps? Cheers : )
Great Update Martin, I have a question on the flaps, are they down because you have it parked and if its in flight would they be up? You really popped my brain in a good way with the missing decals, ha ha I was literally like OH why didn't I do that.
+Ian E (That 1 35th Scale Show) Thanks Ian, much appreciated. Yes, all my builds include the undercarriage down as if they are on the ground and not with the undercarriage up in flight mode. I've modeled it with flaps down to make it look more interesting instead of having straight horizontal wings as in flight. The flaps would only be down during landing to induce drag to help slow the aircraft and remain down during taxiing. If left down when fully parked, there's the risk that high winds could buffer against them lifting the aircraft, and the added risk, that during the next take off, if the pilot doesn't retract them back to horizontal, he/she is going to have a troublesome take-off! Therefore, Pilots will normally fully retract them when parked, unless maintenance is due on them. So, my build...the Pilot is just taxing on the runway, as just come into the park position and will be retracting very soon, or, my model is about to have flap maintenance checks. Cheers : )
+Fernando Duarte That's alright....the amount of time this is taking me...probably another 2 to 3 weeks, you could still begin yours in 10 days time and still be completed before I do at the speed you build!
+Felis Barcinonensis Thanks Felis, sorry for the late response....been very busy with the new house and contractors....choosing paint colors, tiles for bathrooms, wood flooring, carpeting, kitchen and bathroom designs etc etc. The reason I'm 6 weeks into the build with still a lot to do! Hope you're doing well? Cheers : )
Looking mighty fine Martin! Love you attention to detail! Have a great weekend!! Chocks away!! Love it!
+MindlessModelWorks Thanks mate, much appreciated! Have a great weekend, too, mate! Cheers : )

Great update, happy I'm following this build. I've just ordered the 1/72 version of this bird, hopefully without the gaps you've encountered
+AltCtrlFreak Thanks mate! Enjoy building your 1/72 scale version, and I'm sure you'll be fine regarding gaps. Have fun! Cheers : )

Martin,
Nice work. Have you tried sanding the stynlres? Does it exhibit the same flaking issues that the Vallejo primers do?
Cheers.
