I like to think it’s Gordon himself, abit of a meta take on how Gordon’s model in the pilot was used for set dressing in scrapyard scenes! Really good story :)
@@joshuabrown6791I dont think so bc that’d imply that there was another body for him alr when they were made after the accident at the mines. And there wouldn’t be a reason for Gordon’s original body to be in the smelters yard bc they were left there bc of the dangers of the mines
I'd like to think the scrapyards warps into whatever dark past an engine has had. For Stepney's, it was being caught and almost scrapped by two unknown diesels, while gordon's was seeing the ghost of a lost relative, or he's early prototype design. Great video by the way ! Loved the editing.
I like your idea the only thing that's got me confused is you have to remember one of the diesels pushed Stepney in now if they are just a figment of is imagination that means stepney was never pushed he moved on his own. But that idea was kicked to side after Thomas and The Magic Railroad and we went back to the engines having drivers and fireman. Unless the engines still have the ability to move on their own but they choose not to due to regulations.
I love how this story is open to interpretation. Maybe the engine was one of his brothers? Maybe he was a failed prototype of Gordon? Or maybe he was something else entirely. Whatever the answer is, Gordon will likely take that secret to his death.
17:28 given the shot is closing in on an engine next to Gordon, I think the scrapped engine is one of Gordon’s brothers that he forgot about. Thus, the title of the story.
Sorry I didn’t comment sooner, but this was definitely a real spooky story there. I like to think that that engine was probably one of Gordon’s brothers, but was a failed prototype when they were first built. Though judging by the comments, it might also be Gordon’s former shell somehow. Either way, excellent work on this, Joe!
I like the implication that 'Arry and Bert might actually be supernatural beings that reside in the scrapyard and might not actually be real engines that work there. Topham might be right to be very nervous about that place...
After rewatching this many times, it's either implying that the scraped engine is Gordon himself (going for a reference to "Part of me stayed Behind" or this was the prototype A1 that failed to work and was sent to scrap after Gordon (the improved version) was built Either way, this was a good story
That's my take, that it's Gordon's older sibling that failed and was cut up for scrap. Makes me feel very sorry for that engine if that's the case. I wonder why it came up to Gordon then. Was it happy to see its little brother? Angry? Sad?
@@shimesu443 Who knows? Could have been a variety of emotions considering Gordon showing up to the smelter's yard due to a job was completely by chance. If it's the latter in that it's the nameless older sibling that never got the chance to live the life that Gordon, Scott, and the others would due to being "the failed prototype" maybe the entire encounter was just it wanting to interact with one of it's siblings for the first & last time, along with having one of them remember it so they, at least, don't be forgotten before it left to who knows where
@@SpaceDetectiveTravis That's a very good take. Of course, that just makes me feel sadder for the poor thing. A lost soul, reaching out to lost family, hoping to not be forgotten.
well given gordon was an A0, and in the story of him meeting scotmans, he told him he also got a rebuilt, that wasn't true to there maker's design, but it served. So who knows.
Wow. What a story. It really is. I love how this turned out. The pacing, the photoshop scenes, the music, and how the characters are like. Mainly Gordon. That part with Gordon and.....who that engine may be kinda reminds me of A Part of me Stays Behind in a way. Also I'm wondering what music was used there during that sequence. This is a fantastic spooky story here. Well done on it! And I hope you have a Happy Halloween!
After watching the video I came to a conclusion, but first I will give my explanation so you understand. Gordon is the prototype of the A1, seeing the memory of him realizing who that rusty locomotive was, can help us understand that Gordon was not the only prototype, why do I say this? because how Gordon acted.
I think maybe that that scrap engine was Gordon’s old body.what if he got into an accident and had to be entirely rebuilt like Henry however Gordon losses his memorys
WOW another amazing story PLEASE DO MORE OF THESE STORIES but maybe you could do a story like this about Bertie The Bus Because in the model series the episode where Thomas meets Bertie you can see busses siting in the shed but we never know who they are
Telling the truth? Since when does Gordon ever own up to his fears. Either way, it’s deserved here. If the rusted engine wasn’t him, then it had to be one of his brothers.
I really love this story. I’m not a huge fan of scary stories but this one is great. I have a little theory: I think that engine that was in front of Gordon was the engine that went down the mine. And maybe at some point off screen it was sent to the scrap yard and got scraped at some point. Maybe Gordon was seeing the scraped Gordon that fell down the mine.If that makes sense. Anyways I Love this story so much ❤❤❤❤ This reminds me of A Part of me that was left behind
My own take on this, Gordon wasn't the only prototype, but there was actually a second. There were some problems or other with the second engine, so the other engine was decommissioned, and they used parts from it to help complete Gordon. Gordon himself never really knew anything about it, that is, of course, until now. At least, that's my take.
Am I the only one who thinks that the scrapped engine Gordon encounters is the one from the episode ‘Halloween’? It probably isn’t but just some food for thought.
I think the engine is one of the loaned engines from the early days of the NWR, perhaps 87546 or 98462, or maybe it's what's left of Dudley. (even though in one of my headcanons, 98462 was killed in a wreck while Dudley and 87546 were withdrawn from service in the early 60s and sent for scrap)
I genuinely don't think Gordon knows who that engine was. I think it was one of Gordon's brothers. One that was neglected in favor of making sure Gordon was in top notch condition. The neglect eventually spelled the end of this engine. Gordon was young and naïve back then. He didn't grasp how unfair the engine thought this treatment was. Gordon isn't a bad engine. He really isn't. Being the engine he is now, the thought of it makes him feel very guilty. Guilty for the fait of an engine he simply doesn't know
In order to understand who this engine is, we must understand what Gordon is. Since Flying Scotsman is is canon, as is Great Northern, I present that Gordon is number 1471, Sir Frederick Banbury. Still older than Scotsman, but not causing timeline issues if he were Great Northern. As to who this is... yeah I still don't have an answer. :I Maybe Great Northern was just having an off day.
I have a theory that the 2 unknown diesels (Likely Arry and Bert) aren't really engines, but as the demons from hell, transformed into diesel engines to take the souls of the steam engines. That would've been a good storyline for this series
Expiration: Gordon get scared by his prototype Reality: Gordon screams like a ten years old pigtails girl by his prototype. This is what I thought of inside my mind. 😂
Hmm, I mean he said that he remembered an engine facing away from him that was silent and still and that no one was paying it attention. My best guess is that it was the actual first prototype but had so many issue’s the LNER scrapped it and pretended it never happened. I guess the engine came to see its brother one last time
