Had it for 18 years when one Sunday morning, some kid in mommy's Bonneville T-boned it! It was like my best friend died or something. It was just too far gone to bring it back to life. My family owned a autobody shop so keeping it looking great was not a problem. I sure miss that car! Bill from Linglestown Pennsylvania.
Hey Uncle. My family owned a small Chrysler Plymouth dealership. As a high school senior, I ordered a '73 Roadrunner to replace my '72 Duster Twister. Not going crazy with big power as a way to order what I wanted, I specified a 318 auto with the new dual exhaust for the 318. It was B5 blue with white buckets and white tape stripes. It was a beautiful car. Growing tired of waiting for it to get there, I chose a dark green '73 Duster 340 auto from the inventory. What a great car that was with the white bucket seated space Duster option. I never regretted my choice although I had my share of Dusters (the fresh air vents were great, they hold 1.5 six packs). We did have a '73 Sebring Plus as a demo that I was able to drive from time to time and it was great.

Awesome video uncle T. I have a factory 4 speed 340 roadrunner, white with black stripe and BENCH SEAT!. Makes me smile like that every time i drive it, although it drives on the left hand side of the road now in New Zealand!
Hi Tom, love the old school, I got rid of my fuel injection and put a carb and changed the distributor to a one wire, but now on new cars there is no place for a distributor, are you ever gonna change a new car over with another type of old school ignition, no one on you tube has done it yet, love your channel , mike
My 73 Road Runners had bucket seats, stripes, and the RR purple horn that went meep meep. Never went beep beep. My 73 Satty I bought when stationed at Fort Carson in 1978 was a basic Satty. Bench, standard dash, 340 engine, am radio, no carpet. Worked for a young soldier. In my basement I have stored a complete white leather interior for my someday-in-the-near-future-before-I-die-RR rebuild. Well, headliner and carpet aren't white leather, but the door panels are! I even have a Craig Powerplay 8 track tape deck with 8 track tapes in the basement. Bought my first 73 Bronze Bird back in 1975. I miss that view from the driver's seat looking out over the bulge hood. I'm glad it's a real RR and not one of those clones. Road Runner and Sattys had completely different vin because they were sold as different cars. Minor differences in the models. Satty's rear windows rolled down, Road Runners rear windows didn't, etc. Good video. Have fun with the Road Runner!
My brother had 73 clapped out body and wiring , 383 with 4 speed pistol grip ! When he shifted into it hard, it felt like the dash was going to slap your face ! Late 80 s good memories thanks for the ride !
My first car when i was 16 was a 72 Roadrunner. A guy from the neighborhood had it and i bugged the hell out of him until he sold it to me. 440. Air grabber. Bucket seats. Console with Slap Stick shifter. I traded him an old Honda CB175 motorcycle and $100 cash. This was in 1979.
I got something out of it alright you just made my day thanks man awww the good old days when cars rattled and banged when you drove them thanks alot bro 👍cheap trick blasting out of the eight track and all you could smell was little hint of oil and gas the good old days when cars were really cars
And, you could always get home if you broke down. With only a few hand tools in the trunk my 1970 Plymouth 440's never left me on the side of the road...well...one time in college I ran out of gas as the gas gauge decided to quit working and I had to walk to a station but that was the only time and still didn't need to be towed.
Yes, the smells........but I like the way ya feel the motor even more. And it doesn't need to be "a power/torque monster".........just a nice, stout pull. There really is an overall "organic" experience with the classics vs these tight, sterile feeling new cars. I owned quite a few classics back in the day. But honestly, I think I miss my '66 Chevy fleet-side short wheel-base full custom cab PU truck with a hot 327 ( that replaced the original 283 ) more than anything. The truck was totally rebuilt when I bought it. I'm still kicking myself for selling it yrs ago......
Black Oak Arkansas blasting "Hot Rod" out of the twin rear speakers while trying to order at the DQ drive-thru. LOL In addition to the Thrush header mufflers.
Excellent, the Road Runner is on the streets! Thanks for sharing. The 1968 340 4 speed motor was the best of the production 340s. The cam must have been a part of it.
I had one in a ‘70 dart swinger just like the orange one he started the video by - man that thing was no slouch I could take the 440’s off the line, they hated to see me show up to race in that thing

Dad was selling cars wholesale when I was in high school I drove so many different cars while he bought and sold them between dealers. Anyway, one of my fond memories is of a 69 or 70 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 4 Barrel. That car was a kick.
I love the big grin he has just rolling it down the road. I been 3 years now recovering my 1973 roadrunner. Previous owner was making it I to a race car but I stopped it before it got too far gone.
I was headed to the diner this morning in my pos explorer and something made me think of my first car . I didn't want to sell it but my dad didn't want me to leave it at home when I went into the service in '75 . I like your cars Tony . My favorite is the '67 charger . I've always loved the '68 '69 roadrunners
I'll never drive a stick shift again. A below thw knee amputation on my right leg makes it more difficult. This episode takes me back to my first car; a 1956 ford with a 292 block, 312 heads and an 1150 carb. Hated the green color, but but loved the go!!! I was 17 and going in the Marines.
I had a bare bones 74. 318 automatic. No power breaks, no power steering or AC. Not even tinted glass. Some suspension upgrades however. Some guy ordered it from the factory and never took delivery. Wasn't fast. It was hard to drive, but looked really cool. I loved driving it. Paid $2600 new. Wore it out at sixty thousand miles and sold it for $400 in 1981.
I just bought one. Someone was in the process of converting it over to roadrunner. They did alot of great work on it but never finished... My wife almost left me over my purchasing this car.... Funny thing is that the license plate holder says happiness is being single.... LOL 😆
Tony- I sold & traded off a lot of Mopar cars & parts over the years. In the end, I just needed a solid rig to put together and enjoy. Too many of the cars just sit and aren't enjoyed, for a plethora or reasons. In the end, I settled on an "End-run" '76 Valiant V8 sedan in beige. Why? It cost me, after taxes, title, tags & tabs about $150 out-of-pocket. It has 88K miles, original, and a West Coast car...very solid and the interior plastic is not cracked & melted away. Over the years I collected & kept enough parts for A-bodies that I knew I could build a pretty nice runner (I'm not a big guy, so the A's are a fitting platform for me). I have a '70 340, 30 over short block. Heads are 308-casting versions off an '89 360. I have the fuel pump for an M-body police car (NIB) and the entire oil cooler set-up off an '89 Gran Fury AHB. Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and an 850 TQ (needs an adapter to fit the intake, I know) will make a decent induction system. transmission? I have all the pieces for converting to an A-833 OD stick- it's the A/F body length, Hurst shifter, and an iron case. Cooling system? I have the HD set-up; radiator, shroud & clutch fan. Brakes & suspension? 1 1/8" front sway bar, 7/8' rear bar, 340 suspension, and 12" pin-style calipers from a Daytona Charger (the Cordoba-esque one). Rear end I have an 8.75 that has been braced, the 10" x 2.5" drums (Aspen cop car), and a 489-case , 3.55 SG center section. I'm sure I'll add AC, do some other things to make it "Better," but the fact is I will drive it around having fun with my cattle dog. Is the car ever going to be worth a lot? Nope, not monetarily- but I will have a helluva lot of fun with it.
Great video UT,had a 73'340 727 83/4 back in the day.And it was a well balanced enjoyable ride, quick decent mileage fun to drive.Red with the black stripe package. And yes,,,I should have kept it.
I had a 1974 Sebring 318 hp. Blue 1\2 white top. When I was in the service. 2 barrel. Auto. 1st +-50mph,2nd +-90 to float the valves. Would give anything to have that car today! I beat it to death. Timing chain change only thing mechanicaly I ever broke!!! Best fun of my life.

Yes the Plymouth RoadRunner, my dream car. Too bad I just can’t find one right now that’s within the budget and not completely clapped out. Really love seeing them though, Thanks Tony👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾.
Where are ya located
Hey, the Seabring Satellite plus is pretty much same car without the rr badges.Keep on the hunt there still out there.
Who's Tom?
I ment Tony, lol
You can put a distributor on LS engines.
A few videos back Richard Holdner had a guy with a distributor powered LS engine. He told how he did it.
Love it thx
When I was 17
My dad was a Chrysler dealer
Ordered in a silver with black stripes 74 road runner
I got to drive it 12,000 miles
Loved it
I, for one, enjoy seeing the rest of your fleet. I enjoyed the ride along
Awesome video thanks again. Helps me remember growing up. My dad had a GTX. and a 70 chevelle. 396 ss. I think my favorite was the GTX. The knowledge and way of thinking is what car people? AMERICA. NEEDS Kind of funny but i feel warm and fuzzy when watching your videos like this one!! Lol. Thanks for preserving the best times of my life 🙏🏼💯
I love that car Tony I'm glad you finally did an episode on it. It's actually one of my favorite cars in your Fleet
My first car was a 74 Satellite Sebring . Awesome car. Raced it a lot . Beat it hard and still drive great. Love it.
I bet I built half a dozen of those road runner model kits when I was a kid- I love the look of that car
thanx for the ride, looks like a fun car to buzz around town in
Dad was selling cars wholesale when I was in high school
I drove so many different cars while he bought and sold them between dealers.
Anyway, one of my fond memories is of a 69 or 70 Dodge Dart Swinger 340 4 Barrel.
That car was a kick.
I love the sounds of a healthy Mopar V8. Nice deep rumble.
There is something just downright pleasant about puttering around in a torquey wide ratio stick car.
I love the big grin he has just rolling it down the road. I been 3 years now recovering my 1973 roadrunner. Previous owner was making it I to a race car but I stopped it before it got too far gone.
I've been doing to hear that 340 fire to life! Now I'm waiting for that awesome Roadrunner in the garage!
Uncle Tony I wish I had you around when I was building my cars back in the day. Mopar all day, all the way
I was headed to the diner this morning in my pos explorer and something made me think of my first car . I didn't want to sell it but my dad didn't want me to leave it at home when I went into the service in '75 . I like your cars Tony . My favorite is the '67 charger . I've always loved the '68 '69 roadrunners
You have no idea how jealous I am, this really makes me miss my 70 Demon. That was one of the happy (grin on my face) fun drives!
Hello Tony,
Had two 1974 Roadrunners. Great cars. Wish I had one of them again.
This is the kind of guy you want to hangout with, shoutout to UT
Just the joy you see in uncle Tony's face while driving that car is why I love old muscle cars, you never get that driving a modern car
You got to make a custom limb that attaches to the clutch. That way you always know where that left limb is at.
Hey Tony, I had a 73 RR from 1990- 1998. About 3 pounds of bondo hanging on the passenger door, had it cheaply painted plumb crazy. Loved that car.
Thanks for the ride!
I'm surprised you don't drive this one more often seems like a really nice car
I just bought one. Someone was in the process of converting it over to roadrunner. They did alot of great work on it but never finished... My wife almost left me over my purchasing this car.... Funny thing is that the license plate holder says happiness is being single.... LOL 😆
Love it! I’ve got a 73 road runner GTX that I’m working on myself
You look so happy driving that car. Nice!
71-74 roadrunners and satelites are my favorite mopars
Great Content Tony ! The smiles and fun behind the wheel is why we are all gearheads.
Dude, your one of the realest car guys out there. Keep it simple and keep up the good work. TY
About time you showed this car.I think they look the best for me.
From 1988 to 2005 i delivered Dominoes pizza's in the evenings on weekends for extra cash and fun. My cars were always Mopars, at different times i drove a 69' red Roadrunner 383 console / auto, a 66' cream color Satelite 383 auto/console, a green 74' Challenger 318 with a cam and dual exhaust, a 71' Satelite 318 dual exhaust and cam, soo much fun i had back then ! Good tips too ! Always delivered hot pizza's within 30 minutes !
I grew up with those mopars around me. Especially the 71 72 chargers
What an amazing Mopar!! I'd love to drive an old musclecar with a stick..mine have always been automatic
I love your channel bro I just came across it iam going to sit and watch some of your videos thanks man
@Can am Dennis if I were you I would clear my schedule for the next couple of days . The amount of knowledge UTG puts out on this channel is mind blowing . I have been watching Tony’s videos about year and half now and have learned more about the mechanics of Mopar engines drivetrains than I ever thought possible just by watching these videos . The way Tony gets the most performance out of whatever he may be working on is second to none . He is like the Yoda of anything that runs on gasoline.
340 automatic with a slap shifter and bucket seats. Excellent
I had a ‘73 340 auto (w/shift kit) red with black interior and stripes and I absolutely loved that car ! I wish I had never sold it but I wanted to go racing and needed the money , not so bright , right ? Every single one I’ve seen since then doesn’t have that color combo and everybody I’ve talked to says they want that . I normally don’t care for a red car but it looked great on the ‘73 Roadrunner ! I still miss her .
I would love a 73-74 roadrunner, always thought they looked really cool.
I love cars that are not over the top but the mods are cohesive and work well. Nice set up UTG
Your commentary and Uncle Kathys' camera work make these videos exemplary! Always enjoy everything you put up. Thanks Tony!
I'm glad you live that car so much! I'm building a '73 charger right now with a 340 and an overdrive four speed and I was really hoping it would be a fun mopar. Some of the older guys I know (I am 19) tell me it's going to be junk because it's a small block in a b body and the aluminum tranny is going to grenade on me! You are keeping me optimistic Tony
Tony looks like a happy man behind the wheel.
He knows what a car is supposed to be. Doesn't force it out of it's element. Smart man
Wow never seen uncle t smile so much. It must be that good
That was my second Mopar with a 400-6 engine very heavy body but loved it.
Finally some Road Runner action. Love it. Hopefully we don't have to wait so long for more. You could get the blue one out too. I'm sure it would make another great vid. Thanks for the Ride.
she sounds great! yea you appreciate those 73 and and after cars i think later on. i get it. cool ride!
