Really enjoying this trip. I am looking at bringing a group of British veterans and joining with a team of US veterans to drive the rail possibly next year
Disclaimer: we did not know at the time but the national forest service and tread lightly principals do not want you to camp within 100 feet of a water source. We are only human and we learn as we go.
How much time did y’all spend on the Arkansas section? I’d like to plan and take time off for this section. Don’t want to rush it but just a nice comfortable pace to do all of Arkansas TAT
I live in Eureka Springs and have a Jeep Gladiator Mohave. I also have a BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. My only problem is deciding which vehicle to do it all on. I think I’ll take my wife and the Gladiator. I’ve already ridden much of the Ozarks section.
Hey man, I'm new to the SW Missouri area. I have a 2wd Durango with highway tires, any sections that you recommend that aren't too crazy but not just a dirt road? Maybe somewhere there is a lake for fishing
Awesome! Thank you for your videos. I just did the Tennessee section on the 26th. What app are you using that allows you to see the trail maps on your factory CarPlay screen?
At the 19:47 minute mark you visit the "Pilot Knob" lookout. I am struggling to find this spot on a map. I can find the town of Pilot Knob, but not that dead end trail. Can you share gps Coordinates, directions, or something to help me find it? Thanks & keep up the great work.
As to the "locals put up road closed signs" part. I live about 10 minutes from the Long Pool area you visited. I just wanna point out what the problem is with the traffic and such. It's not so much volume of traffic but the quality of such. That being said the real issue isn't TAT people (since there are like 1 of ya'll every few days tops it seems) nor the adventure riders and such. It is the local/semi local side by side guys. Now I am not saying everyone who owns a SxS is an a-hole, but every a-hole has a SxS. I guess it is just the demographic who buy most of them. The tend to be bought by people who just don't care and are "above" the rules. They drink and ride out in the open. Tear up trails. Litter like nobody's business and generally treat the NF like their own personal playground tearing around blind corners at top speed and getting annoyed when you happen to be there! They leave microtrash everywhere they stop. Little bits of plastic from bags, bottle caps, et cetera. For the most part the overlander crowd has so much gear (lets face it, overlanding is about how much gear can we possibly take with us) that they tend to not leave much of a trace. The TAT folks just get kinda caught up in the middle of what has turned into a serious issue around here. The IDGAF Side by Side crowd.
And on the gear thing and LNT, ya'll don't even build a fire that leaves a black spot and I doubt leaving 40 torn off tops of instant coffee packets every damn where! So in this case gear really does help keep things clean and tidy.
Hey, did you need to winch? And did your tires hold up with no flats. I know you guys went through some gas, you guys looked loaded up. Me and some guys from my Jeep club in upstate NY. The beacon jeep club.. are very experienced on tight hard rocky trails and our rigs are built well. Is there pull offs to gas up? We have 2 guys without lockers but are geared low. What do you definitely recommend to bring? Chainsaw, proper gear, food, beer, water. We have air compressors built in our jeeps we all carry tools. We don't have a drone. I don't even think any of us are smart enough to fly one. We're upstate NY hillbillies. We probably will camp but very basic tent fire grill grate camping chairs. Tarps. I heard the TAT trail now goes to NY. But none of us can find it online. And this trail isn't on Google maps. Where do we buy navigation and maps? We don't run snorkels neither. We mostly all have cold air intakes. Is there water crossings deeper than headlights? And how much money should each person have. What's the approximate cost of this trip, food gas. Not asking about broken parts, we can figure what it will cost to tow a rig or the need of a mechanic shop. Just trying to reach out to guys that done it and have important information. Thanks great video. Hoping I get a response back.
I’ve only had a winch once and it was during a rain storm in Virginia. There are pretty regular gas stops because the trail passes through small small rural towns. My gladiator is only a sport S no lockers the trail is designed for basic built four-wheel-drive vehicles. The highest I’ve got through a water crossing what’s above the tires. The website you get the maps from are linked in the description of this video it’s the TransAmerican trail website. I can’t remember how much money each section cost to be honest. Especially since gas prices have doubled since then. I would definitely bring one chainsaw three is a lot of dead fall through these areas.
The best TAT videos that I’ve watched. Thank you.
Thank you!!!!!!
The nature symphony started it . 😊 8:50

Spend 3-4 long days on it. Spend a day at the last camp ground

I can't believe Chad didn't have you take the trail from Oark Store to Byrd's.
Didn’t know that was a thing?!?!
Awesome! Thank you for your videos. I just did the Tennessee section on the 26th. What app are you using that allows you to see the trail maps on your factory CarPlay screen?
GAIA GPS! I use the “Satellite with Labels” overlay. I believe it’s available with the premium maps subscription. Not too pricy
Value in the side track should checkout sites you mentioned, thanks
You went by Larry Nixon farm...in Quitman
Do you have a link for your coffee press? I'm having a hard time finding it.
Hey! We did video of it on our channel. It’s linked I. The discretion of that!
Where is the best place to find GPX files for the entire TAT? I see that there's a few options out there, and a couple are pricy!
The official Trans America Trail Website. It’s worth buying all of them. It also help the creator map and keep the maps updated!

Agree, this is everywhere I try to ride, sxs destroy everything. I hate them
Do you have a copy of your Arkansas itinerary?
We just went by the TAT Arkansas maps from the website.
🤙🤙🤙
Did you use onX what was the dirt to pavement %
Gaia GPS. And I’m not sure. I think the TAT website may have that info
So fun fact lol I went to the academy with the guy standing in the road at 3:05 working the accident 😂
That’s odd!

almost unwatchable do to how loud you have your music track, please tone her down :)
Turn down your volume:)
Then we can’t hear your narration just trying to help, the music is far too loud.
