- Foot problems in menopause are actually more common than you may realise. This week, I take a look at four of these problems, explaining what can cause them and what you can do to help yourself if you are experiencing any of them.
Menopause spoils everything .
Yes girl
That's is so so true girl it's really bad for me to 🙏🏾🙏🏾
I am still wondering why it has not yet been labelled 'malady'? How come a so called 'natural process' ruines someone physically and psychologically and still be considered a natural thing simply because women have the capacy to endure pains? It is debilating and is taking some women's lives away! It is high time women came together to fund research to tackle menopause issues. Do not count on men to do something because they are the ones who are tethering with the 'menopause syndrome'. Anyway, it is none of their business and they just don't care!
Yes😢
Never would have thought there was a connection between feet issues
and menopause. Very interesting. Thank you.

I experienced palms and soles burning hot at night few weeks after I had my ovaries removed for treatment of breast cancer. Surgical induced menopause. Gained weight and sensation went away. Few years later I experienced symptoms of sleep apnea and got diagnosed with pre diabetes. I loss 10 pounds and my sleep slightly improved. I loss three more pounds and now the burning hot palms of my hands and soles of my feet returned; which brought me to this video. Now I’m on the hunt to get if this burning sensation. I decided to post this to potentially help someone else.Thank you for your video which helped validate the correlation between menopause and burning and feet.
You're welcome, hope my tips are helpful for you

I am 46 and have been in menopause for a year now. I've had very fast weight gain, 19 pounds to be exact. Im a fairly small gal. My whole life i have been between 100lb and 115lb, im now all of a sudden 134 in a matter of just a few months. My feet are killing me on the bottom outer sides. Im finding it very difficult to walk and stand for even short periods of time, especially when just getting out of bed. Like i needed more things to complain about aside from horrid sweating and feeling like a butter ball turkey.🙄😁
Hi TT
Swift weight gain can indicate poor thyroid function which can often appear in the menopause. It is best to see your doctor about this so they can investigate properly for you.

Am the same..feet seem to be a size bigger...
Me too. I've gone up 1 shoe size and the foot pain is soo bad😢
Feet flatten out as we age and need to get feet resized. Very common
These explanations are genius, Eileen, thank you very much 🌷I have aches and pains all over my body, but especially in the feet and ankles, they are not hot, just a stabbing pain in the soles, like walking on the bones.
Please do those pains improve again with time? Given we make some lifestyle changes of course.
Thank you and have a good day 🍀
Hi C.C.
Yes, these symptoms can ease over time, but with joint issues, it is really important to sort this out quickly (with things like diet, water, supplements etc) as leaving it too long could result in permanent damage.

Just subscribed and liked. I have invisible ankle swelling and burning feet every morning as I rise up from bed and at 5pm very weekday since I turned 48. My feet officially hate me. Thank you for connecting peri menopause to feet. This is a real situation. My mom, 75, has arthritis has it too. I also sweat in my feet. 🤭

So lucky I’ve never had feet problems with the menopause , but drinking water to keep myself hydrated makes me really bloated 😫
Hi Lisa
This can often happen if you suddenly start drinking lots of plain water when your body isn't used to it. Your body needs time to adjust so maybe start with just one glass of water a day for a week then increase to two glasses for another week and so on. Also, don't drink a lot with food as this will cause bloating!
A.Vogel UK thankyou for your advice and getting back to me
Sorted out some issues for me, thank you Eileen, very informative as always....
You're welcome!
It is so sad that we are so uneducated about menopause. I was at the end of perimenopause when I was getting swollen ankles and feet and no doctor could pinpoint what the problem was. That was six years ago. I also would have a lot of foot pain and I couldn't take long walks anymore. I was hoping to hear about itchiness in my feet.
Hi Zamev
Itchiness in the feet can be caused by a number of factors such as thinning skin becoming more sensitive to what you wash with or wear such as socks, tights etc and also what shoes are made of. Hot flushes/sweats can often result in sweaty feet which can cause itchiness! Maybe also check blood pressure and circulation as these may be a factor too.

About 15 years ago, I tore a tendon in a few places on my right foot. I was running at the time. I remember the pain very well. Last summer, just getting out of bed in the morning, I tore a tendon in my left foot. It was a very small tear, but hurt just as much and doing absolutely nothing!
Sorry to hear that, Karen.
Thank you, I love your videos. I have an issue with my feet but, the pain is more in the heels and the middle of my feet. It happens off and on. Not while I'm standing though. It happens when I'm resting.
Hi Lynn
Great to hear that you love the videos, thank you!
It might be a good idea to have a check up with a Podiatrist just to see what's going on and if there is something they can recommend to make things more comfortable for you.
@@AvogelCoUk Thank you. Noted.
Thank you so much for the information. I needes to hear that.
Thanks for this!! It seems like when I have a hot flash my foot gets heated up too just on my left foot.
Yes this can happen!
Same here do you get pain cramps as well as the burning sensation? Like the feeling you need a good foot massage?
@@tia7765 no pain cramps. But haven’t had my foot heat up in awhile either. I try and stay away from caffeine which makes all my symptoms worse
Love all your videos ❤️ So appreciate for the subtitles as I am french 🙏🏼

What's the Menopause support. ? And what you would recommend? And what's nettle tea?
Hi Maria
Menopause Support is a herbal preparation which can help with some menopause symptoms, see link for more info www.avogel.co.uk/herbal-remedies/soy-isoflavones/
Nettle tea is just a herb tea made from nettles
always have tinglin and numbness in my left foot
Hi Charmain
Do get this checked out by your doctor, just to rule out issues such as low vitamin B12, peripheral neuropathy or even diabetes! If these are not present then even a trapped nerve in your spine could be the trigger and it may be worth seeing a chiropractor.

Hi Anna

Quite interesting and informative
Thank you bav jam!
Thank you Eileen for this highly interesting video!
I have warm to very hot foot soles, which are red, kind of a burning sensation. At its worst when having a hot flash, so could there be a direct link between the two? Thank you kindly.
Hi C.C.
Yes, there could be a link, if your circulation is sensitive to what is triggering the flushes then you could feel this literally anywhere! Hope the tips will be of benefit for you :)

A.Vogel UK Thank you 🙏 Your words are always very insightful! Best wishes!
The red feet with burning pain is a issue I’ve had for five years seen specialist thought it must be something called erythromelalgia but I truly don’t think this is my problem I’ve been watching lots of these videos of Eileens I’m believing now I think all the symptoms I’m having is all menopause I’ve had just about everything she mentions I think I’m just one that has found that my body doesn’t like not having the hormones I once had
Hello mam can i ask .becoz lately before my period come i experience the hotflushes ,my heart palpitate and feel nervous and im going crazy that time and the night i cannot sleep its hard to get my sleep...thanks madam.
Hi Tishamae
Unfortunately, this can happen if you are in the peri-menopause, hormones can fluctuate more triggering these symptoms as your eostrogen falls towards a period. You may find a magnesium supplement can be of benefit or you could try the herb Agnus Castus.
Ok thanks mam
Do you get foot pain as well ??
lovely content
Good day madam i experience coldness in my two feet could it be also due to my premenausal stage?I am going 50 this coming dec..
Hi Gemma
It is possible, we do know that falling hormones can affect the circulation, you could try the herb Gingko biloba as we recommend this for cold hands and feet.

Yes I have had burning feet for the last year. Went on HRT last year. Not helping my feet… at night on fire. Socks help which is odd ??
I can’t drink too much water to keep hydrated as of course we can have more frequent visits to the loo in our 50s without drinking lots. I can’t when I’m in community due to no toilet facilities. I will give vitamin complex a go . The nights are getting warmer and my feet along with this. Hate the summer now
oh no that sounds so tough. It is so important to get the 2 litres of water into you a day, as it will help with so many symptoms and for your overall health. Especially in the summer when it is warmer. I hope you can find a way to get the water into you even though you don't like to use public toilets.
Thank u mam. Sometimes I experience itchy feet. Is this also possible. I'm 43 and in Peri menopause
Hi Rashikala
Yes, this could happen but may be due more to what your shoes or socks or tights may be made of. Your skin can become more sensitive to different fibres and materials.

Hi..I am noticed my feet are sore nd swollen after walking and that I need a size bigger shoe...I am also getting corns and little toe bunions
Hi Ruth
Maybe a good idea to check with a Chiropractor, sometimes misalignment of the spine or hips or knees can put extra pressure on some parts of our feet which could cause these problems.

Thank u so much. I would nevr associate feet with menopause
You're welcome!
Hello, Eileen. Just watched your video on leg aches due to menopause. I have been suffering from achy legs for these past weeks. Is it more of muscle posture or hormonal? I sit the whole day at the office and have not been doing my exercises due to the quarantine brought about by this pandemic. Also, drinking water has been challenging due to wearing face mask.
You mentioned taking magnesium, what is the dosage for this?
I have also been feeling cold feet and legs when I wake up. My knees sometimes feel wobbly. Is it also hormonal? What should I do?
Looking forward to your reply. hanks
Hi Paris
Posture can certainly cause these kinds of issues so, maybe check out RUclips for exercises you can do at your desk; these can often just take a few minutes to do several times a day. Try to get up and have a quick walk, even for a couple of minutes once an hour to keep your circulation healthy.
Dehydration will be an issue too so try and drink as much as you can when you can.
Cold feet can indicate low blood pressure or poor circulation so best to get this checked out by your doctor at some point.
I would suggest 150-200mg magnesium twice a day.

My toes hurt. I just don't know why. I have cold and hot flashes. I do not have diabetes.
Maybe check with a Podiatrist as they specialise in feet issues and may be able to help you.

How to overcome this?
I do hope my tips and advice in this video will be of benefit for you. Best Wishes

Keep getting tinggling on my feel and carf area and my hands with burning is that normal
This can happen and could be due to a number of issues such as vitamin B12 or vitamin D deficiency, magnesium deficiency, diabetes or circulation problems so it is wise to get this checked by your doctor first for a proper diagnosis

@@AvogelCoUk I did go to see a doctor and they don't take is seriously at all said its all in my head
Where can I purchase the menopause support ? 🙄
Hi Hilda
If you are in the UK or Ireland you can obtain it from most independent health shops, big Boots and H&B and also from our website.
My legs hurt and my right f oot feels like disjoined
Hi Amina, It is best to get this symptom checked out with your doctor first of all.
@@AvogelCoUk thank you I did check everything is fine
Hi Amina
Good to hear that everything is fine; with the menopause joint aches and pains can be due to low oestrogen. You may find a herb called Devils Claw can be of benefit and remember the water as dehydration can make symptoms worse!
