When I say a M43 sensor is 4x smaller what I mean is that it's 2x smaller but that's diagonal. In effect if you placed 4 M43 sensors on the ground they would take up the area of one FF sensor.....before anyone corrects me in the comments 😂
Yeah its one of my favourite bits of "gear" that I own and has to be seen (or not seen) to be believed! I had a lady come within metres of me and physically stare at me for a few seconds before she realised what I was and it scared the hell out of her when she realised. Her dog gave me away 🤣
Well done Joe! See, people enjoy watching what other photographers use. It can sometimes introduce the viewer to a piece of kit they may not have considered as happened to me when watching another vlogger when I put extension tubes on the back of a telephoto lens. You have a great selection of lenses and you explained each brilliantly. Keep looking at the list and consider some of the other options to make a video about. You mentioned Morten Hilmer, you obviously watch some of his videos. He is an inspiration to many people and you can definitely get quite a few ideas from him for your vlogs. Keep up the good work. Enjoyed the Common Tern picture too. See you out there!
Thanks :) Like I say I don't really like standing where others have stood before otherwise I'm just treading old ground but every now and then when it's beneficial to the audience you are right :) Yes it was because of him I started this channel after experiencing the feelings that he conveys so well on his channel. That makes my channel amongst the first wildlife channels on RUclips - it's about 6 years old or more now (had to delete some old videos, long story) Shame covid came around and wrecked my life and halted my progress, but it is what it is I can't moan about it any longer (welll I can it just won't achieve anything lol)
@007silverwings I look forward to making that video! There's a lot of great generic photography reviews on the G9ii but nothing from the perspective of a G9 user and not much about wildlife photography so I'm aiming to fill that niche!
Nice one - always interesting to see what folks have in their kit bag! I reckon I should do a video like this once I'm into baby lockdown later this summer!
Absolutely! I didn't make one before because I always just assumed that people that follow me would already know to an extent but it seems to be doing quite well. Don't know whether to be happy or be offended by "tech type" videos doing better than regular ones although I think that's a common theme in RUclips. I might be switching things up in the future though with regards to gear. I did make the mistake of briefly taking a few shots on a Sony A9 with 200-600 and got all the shots in focus without hardly trying. Can't argue with that sort of consistency and could also stay out longer when the sun goes down. Who knows though!
@@JoeMaranophotography The tech ones always do way better!! I think it's partly because you get search traffic as well as folks browsing... Yeah, the AF on the modern Sony kit is something else! The kit is a lot heavier though, especially that 200-600mm is a dense bit of kit. I guess you'll just have to use the waist belt after all!!
@GeoffCooper It's the conundrum of wanting one thing and then getting it but then getting a new set of problems! The A9 and ii don't have a particularly good feature set for video and like you say that 200-600 isn't a small or light lens and I suspect it won't even fit in my camera bag! Had a look at Canon R6ii but that has it's own set if downsides so sticking with MFT seems the logical choice but then of course THAT has its own set of problems! Someone needs to make a really decent APSC camera and then I'm on board LOL
I have a similar story. I technically started with a Canon G12, but my first “real camera” was also the Panasonic G7. I ultimately switched to Olympus a few years later primarily because of the better autofocus when I purchased the Olympus EM1 mk ii. A few years after that I upgraded to the EM1 mk iii and this year I purchased the new OM1 mk ii. Have you tried Olympus/OM Digital? The only thing I miss from Panasonic is the in camera panorama stitching.
@JasonYorkTech I've been trying to get hold of one to no avail. Small RUclipsr problems I guess. I'd like to try one as I think OM have a better lens selection for wildlife work.

Nice one Joe and it's always good to see inside someone else's camera bag 🙂I do like that camo suit too.

Hi mate, the one bit of kit I haven't got is a drone. I'm not sure I would use one enough. Good video, all the best Steve.
Honestly it's very good when you need it and absolutely pointless when you don't 🤣
Another great video, thanks Joe. What's your thoughts on the G9II? Think you might upgrade at some point?
I have a review sample coming from Panasonic but haven't got a date yet. Super excited!

Great video mate, need to buy me a camo suit for sure !!!
Oh it's great! Genuinely great! Cheap too! If anyone catches me in it I always tell them I'm not there to murder them 🤣
