I'll stand by Tony Dungy and Mike Tirico who said they'd worked for years with Gruden and never seen any racist tendencies at all.
Just because a person works in a professional setting doesn't mean they can't harbor a dislike of others. If a person makes a reference about another person's racial characteristics, that's problematic. If the characteristic is of no value, an underhanded statement need not be made by any vehicle of communication!

@@andrewbird57 - 650,000 emails from the Redskin organization and Goddell releases less than a dozen from Gruden....Who, at the time was NOT employeed by the NFL & were sent privately. The emails were also over a decade old when released. Meanwhile, Goddell protecting owner Dan Snyder of the Redskins to take the heat off the franchise. Wonder why the NFL hasn't been transparent and released all 650,000emails??? They're fighting like crazy to keep them out of public domain...NFL selectively targeted Gruden & they should be held accountable for it! Gruden had ZERO to do with the TOXIC nature of the Redskin organization.

They put a hit on Gruden because it was so easy. No one is saying Gruden was framed; he absolutely sent those emails. However bad the emails were, they were sent long before he was the Raiders HC so the NFL did not have a legal reason to fire him. I agree that it was a distraction to focus attention away from Snyder.

That was the result but Gruden's not blameless. And I'm not endorsing what Gruden wrote, don't approve but only releasing e-mails on him and not others, why?

It’s vital that everyone be treated equally. It seems that Gruden’s emails were cherry picked and that’s a big problem. If you’re going to expose his emails it seems that you must expose everyone’s. And believe me, I’m no fan of Gruden. I think he’s a punk. But my opinion of him doesn’t matter as it’s not only an ad hominem but it’s also a red herring.

Since this story may never be brought up again, I have to give my theory on the timing of the document release. I believe the NFL released the documents when they did so that they could get a few more years of “going against” the bend and then break negotiating style of Demaurice Smith. If you look back in the week leading up to the release there are several stories saying he was out, the players had done a preliminary vote, they’d had enough. This Gruden stuff comes out slandering him, and I believe he was re-elected that weekend. It’s the only time specific variable. If they wanted to do something to Gruden, they had this, why wait until week 3?
The release of the e-mails and only on Gruden, only made/makes sense if Keyshawn Johnson was the one that did it:):) And clearly, he wasn't:):) Gruden, your best course of action is to write a book and call it, "Y'all Snitched on Me. I'm Snitchin on You!!"
The NFL has screwed over the Raiders since the Merger. They still have a vendetta for the Davis family and Raider organization. That's a FACT.....

I just checked the political affiliations of the two judges who ruled in favor of the NFL. One is a Democrat and the other is a Republican. The 3rd judge has no party affiliation. @Mike Florio
The NFL doing business in Nevada is a big deal. Kudos to the dissenting judge pointing out the fact that it would be outrageous for Goodell to appoint or possibly be the arbiter. That's all I'm gonna say.
He’s not saying every judge is going to decide things down party lines on every single issue. His point is that judges are likely to have biases that coincide with their political affiliations, just like every human does. People for the most part are influenced by what their beliefs are.

I don't really see the NFL's motivation in singling out Gruden and thereby possibly damaging the league's own reputation. I think it was much more likely that the leaks were by a Snyder flunkie acting on Snyder's direction in retaliation for him being pressured to give up ownership.
Why would Snyder go after Jon Gruden?
Also, why would they release some on a Friday, & after Jon Gruden doesn’t resign by Monday, release more?
Then after Gruden Resigned, nothing else is leaked.
How does any of that benefit Snyder?
All he would have accomplished was pissing off another Owner in Mark Davis, who has a vote to kick Snyder out.
Whomever leaked them, specifically wanted Jon Gruden out of the NFL, that’s not Snyder, based on everything that we know.
I don’t think any of us are naive enough to think, there weren’t as bad or worse emails on that server that would end someone else’s career.

I feel like if Gruden wanted to prove he realizes he was wrong and proving that he's no longer a racist, then trying to sue was not the way to go about it. Accepting the outcome as what he deserves would be a start, and then maybe like working with inner city youth programs as a path to redemption. All this is doing now is saying screw everyone, they'll never accept me anyways so I'll just grab as much money as I can through a lawsuit.

The whole situation is just sad. It’s unfortunate what was said but it’s also sad how fast people are quick to judge and cast stones. Especially when if their personal emails and texts were posted 90% of you judging would have something you wish you could take back or explain because it was taken out of context. Lot of people living in glass houses throwing stones.
The context was he was saying he didn’t like certain groups of people. You can take my emails or texts, you aren’t going to find any examples of blatant racism, misogyny or homophobia.
Maybe you should take a look at yourself and think about why that might not be true of you.

Gruden 100 percent deserves what happened to him. He was sending out emails with blatantly racist and inappropriate statements. That's on him, not on anybody else, he was only sorry after he got found out. Putting stuff like that in emails was just asking to be outed.
But there are other bad emails out there in the NFL is hiding them and protecting the people.
He didn't work for the nfl. Those where private emails. The emails were years before. But you let the raiders hire him and mid season leak this because we were actually good? I hope your emails come out and you loose your job.
