Great video, Jerad. I've been wrestling with Notion for the better part of 2 months to make it an all in one second brain, tasks, notes and everything else app. It's not working the way I would hope and I kept using apple notes and reminders for day to day. This setup for reminders actually brought a level of structure to my setup that I was missing and was what I was trying to create in Notion. Thanks for the overview.
Great Video! I am also very minimalistic in terms of tools, simple is always more effective for me! I am managing my group of 64 companies together with my family, holidays, health and fitness and everything in between only using: * Things 3 for task / project management * Craft / Apple notes for notes and references * Apple calendar for appointments etc I have never skipped a beat with this simple setup. Although your approach to Reminders with idea of Daily Focus is great, and I may give it a go! Looking forward to seeing your Apple Notes approach too and how much is different to mine!
Really enjoyed your presentation thank you! I tried to get back into Reminders last year and spent loads of time setting up a similar system. In the end I could not make the switch from things 3 ,mainly for two reasons (1) the inability to sort smart lists by the list from which they originate and (2) when viewing a child task in a smart list I cannot see what parent task it relates to.
Great video - love the idea for smart lists to create a Daily Focus area... I've now set this up and I'm looking forward to it. I've seen other content which mentions the ecosystem features of using Mail and Notes to create linked items in the Reminders app, so that might be useful to see in a future video.
Great video! I'm current using reminders just for simple routine reminders, and todoist to tasks (work mainly). But it's really interesting your way to use apple reminders, to concentrate just in one place.
A great video, Jerad! This may be the setup I'm looking for, finally allowing me to climb out of the complexity that has naturally evolved over time in Notion. At first... because I'm a PC user... I thought this wouldn't work, until I logged into iCloud Reminders via browser (excuse squashed!). 2025 is about simplicity - thank you for the push!
I love that Daily Focus group. Thanks. It's a great way to plan the day. I don't suppose you've found a way to use a shortcut to open reminders with group showing?
Great video! I have been trying to use mainly Apple apps for work, and specially reminders also for Personal life. But I haven’t found a way to skip the notifications about work reminders while on vacation. Any thoughts or ideas?
Can you walk through how you setup the inbox smart list and the This Week folder? Also with the business folder if you set a flag to each item would it flow into the daily focus?
I created the Inbox as a place to drop quick reminders that I would later go back to for adding date/time, tags, priority, etc. I added the Inbox so long ago that I forgot it was not default to the Reminders app.
This is a very helpful video. I’ve had trouble with my reminders syncing between my iPhone and my Mac. It’s really frustrating and I’m not sure how to fix it.
It should sync quickly. Make sure iCloud sync is turned on in settings for all devices. Background app refresh also needs to be enabled. If in low power mode, sync won’t happen as often.
I created a similar group to what you made, from top to no priority smart lists. For some reason when I enter a new task in the group it just defaults to my personal list, like it completely ignores the group. Is there any way to change this?
Wouldn’t it be great if you can combine reminders and notes so so that when you went through a note, you could be reminded. That’s the floor in the system as the way I see it.
You can create a linked reminder by highlighting text in a note and using the share sheet to create a reminder. The resulting reminder will have a link to the note.
Excellent video, greetings from Argentina. Check this productivity course with Mac is it translated into Spanish since I am very interested in it? I see you now that you translate your videos into Spanish 😀
Great video! I've set it up exactly how you show it but every time I enter a new reminder within a specific list it also shows up on the INBOX and I can't seem to get it out of there. What am I doing wrong?
If you want your tasks to default to a certain folder, you need to go into the settings for the Reminders app and change the default folder. I create a lot of reminders and then go clean things up later when I have more time so I like them going into the inbox because then I know that they are reminders that still need to be processed.
@@jeradtech my default folder is the inbox. No matter whether I add a reminder to the inbox to later, move it to the correct folder or create the reminder in a specific folder it always shows up in both places. That's what I'm trying to resolve.
@@elzoguarnieri3207not sire if you found the solution, but I tried tap/hold the Inbox task & it showed, depending where the List resides, 2 options - Move To or Add To. And my Priority List is under Add To. Unless there is another fix
Do you guys experience the same bug Apple hasn’t been able to fix: when I create a shared reminder list/tasks with another party, I specifically setup to be notified either if I complete the task or the other party does we both are going to receive a notification, but this never happens. Sounds familiar? FYI: It doesn’t matter if you assigned that particular task to yourself or the other party.

only 64? must be nice to have so much free time.
@ To be fair is not that bad as now each unit is being managed by head of that unit but some years ago that wasn’t the case! 😂
how you creat this week Smart Folder ?
Fantastic reminder task management tips. I love being organised and this is a game changer. Thank you.
I love seeing my first Mac in the background of your videos!

Very informative video. I like your approach and am playing with it. I personally love using the Apple tools.

Nice presentation, Jerad. Much appreciated. I also admire how many miles you have cycled and ran in 2024. Keep it up!
Thank you!
can apple reminders filter keywords with no #. Similar to Todoist

Thanks for the smart list idea
Really clever system with the smart folders and priority. Subscribed!

Only thought would be to temporarily turn off notifications to the app. It doesn’t have a vacation mode like Todoist or some other apps.
@@jeradtech yeah, that’s what I loved from Todoist.
Thing is that I would still like to keep receiving notifications for personal reminders
Can you batch update the due date of past reminders?
The Mac on the shelf behind you is the same as my first Mac from the mid 1980's!
Nice! I didn’t own this specific one back then but we had one.
Can you walk through how you setup the inbox smart list and the This Week folder?
Also with the business folder if you set a flag to each item would it flow into the daily focus?
Any good menu bar icons or a way to slide mouse to hot corners to launch. Like the application side notes.
Was the Inbox folder created or part of the default in the Reminders app?
I created the Inbox as a place to drop quick reminders that I would later go back to for adding date/time, tags, priority, etc. I added the Inbox so long ago that I forgot it was not default to the Reminders app.

It goes live tomorrow.

How’d you make the “this week” list?
Smart filters.
Great video. If the smart list pull in the tasks where do they live? Do you use an inbox? Would love to see the workflow from capturing to completing.
I capture in the inbox and then move them to work, personal, or family folders. Smart lists do the rest of the organizing for me.
can you share your thoughts on the latest integration of Reminders with Calendar?
My next video will be on calendar and will include reminders that show up in the calendar as well. Thanks for asking!
@@jeradtechwhen is this video coming out?
Hi... Great video!!! Which filters you use on your This Week smart list????
I think I founded.... "relative range", right?
Yes, Relative Range and then Next 7 Days.
Thanks!!!!

Can’t figure out how to get things from duplicating. If they go into my inbox they also show in my top priority smart box?? How do I fix this
Excellent video, greetings from Argentina. Check this productivity course with Mac is it translated into Spanish since I am very interested in it? I see you now that you translate your videos into Spanish 😀
I hope to have it translated.
How do you deal with your inbox folder?
The inbox is where things go first that I didn’t have time to add a date, time or tag. I usually clean that up once a day.
Great video! I've set it up exactly how you show it but every time I enter a new reminder within a specific list it also shows up on the INBOX and I can't seem to get it out of there. What am I doing wrong?
