I used to love this band back in the early 70's. I'd forgotten about them and it's been fun to listen to them again.
A very hauntingly beautiful song.. Jacqui's voice at it's finest.
It makes me sad to look back especially with Bert and John both now deceased but this is a lovely song and arrangement. The harmonies of Jacqui and Bert were a perfect match. What a great combination of talents Pentangle were and their unique music will always sound magical to me.
Take a listen to Pierre Le Bras or Old Picker on RUclips. Same dude. He's Pierre you know, from France.
Possano riposare nella Pace del Buon Dio 🧡
The harmonies are actually from John and Jacqui, not Bert.
reminds me of when I could just sit and listen to music.
If I could like this more than once, I would. Incomparable.
Pentangle arrangements were utterly sublime.
usually ... but the "Reflections" album had some major problems
Their poorest album though still had a few good tracks. An American feel to it. I believe that John and Bert were being bold boys at the time and there was a lot of disharmony, metaphorically at any rate, in the recording studio.
I agree that the conditions under which _Reflection_ was produced were the most disharmonious, but I think the album itself is brilliant. Their catalogue is so eclectic, and so much a reflection of their diversity of influences, that it would be very difficult for me to pick out a "best" or "worst"; each album has its unique features and a direction that is somewhat different from all the others, to recommend it.
@@Trombonology Well said, I couldn't agree with you more. Reflection was a great LP.
@@7777Scion Well worth it for my favourite side.
Pentangle are just one more reason to be proud to be British.
The wisdom and power of "less is more". Utterly majestic.
Very nicely said.
I agree. But there’s a lot going on with the instruments. They just don’t overdo it.
Martin Hugh Henley truly a Marvelous concoffany... nature provides
The most beautiful female voice ever!
Esleyu truly a beautiful instrument
Listen to Sandy Denny a greater voice.
John Collum Not really, most of the time Denny leaves me cold. Her work with Fairport is amazing, but truth be told Pentangle is far and away a more accomplished act, followed closely by Steeleye Span.
@@gamers7800 in your opinion
Jack Simpson... yes of course, in my opinion.
Jacqui has a voice that's once in a generation & I love her for it.
Danny Thompson's bass is incredibly powerful
Seriously, he's so good.
It really sings out
Stunning sound.
Huge influence on their music.
Her name is Victoria.
I loved this band when i was in my early teens. But now i listen to them more than ever before. This music will never die.
This song and Willy of Winsbury are my fave songs of the Pentangle. Brilliant work.
Same! I also really like ‘Let No Man Steal Your Thyme’ the holy trinity for me 🙏
I must have played this song 500 times, since discoving it 50 years too late. Simple, yet stunning. Jackie's voice is purely perfect, the guitars are phenomenal and THAT bass!?! On to another 500 listens.
Can’t help but cry listening to this beauty
Beautiful song for a lost age and lost people
My god that's good.
How could i miss such a band until now....? Lucky i did find it :-)
Me too. This is magically epic.
Listen to Fairport Convention. And Sandy Denny's solo work. More beautiful U.K. folk, folk/rock.
L. Arthur thanks man. Ustedes los ingleses tienen el mejor folk!
@@Progressive_and_proud_of_it Sandy Denny is really cool to discover.
The sound of these Islands
Each member of the band was so accomplished, ridiculously so and so for them to all play in the same band is simply amazing.. Those were the days .
Just fantastic! Intonation is perfect. Great musicianship!
Criminally under appreciated band
Agreed !
Absolutely.
greg.i time will be judge. This is magic like an beatles level

mushrooms, a field, a tribe of hippies, and this song. It needs to happen.
Allow me to assure you that it did happen!
I have photos
What an absolutely gorgeous song.
This song is so addicting. I can listen to it on repeat.
Wonderful! Real Musicians who are masters of their craft!
Like Keats. I truly believe their music will go on forever.
I love this song. I'm sure this is what Mr Blackbird (the local friendly bird) chirps quietly to himself in the Wisteria at this time of year (November). Now to play it again....
What superb film quality. I always enjoyed watching their frequent TV appearances of that era. A really talented group - with the great voice of JM to the fore.
Truly one of the best songs ever written... The genius Bert Jansch...
Such a haunting beautiful voice. Love Jacqui's voice.
Legends. Once heard, never forgotten.

cant believe have just discovered this genre, these maestros. Folk rock my new go to
Great to see the era depicted by the audience. That was me at some point in distant memory.
Yes long ago and I still feel the same ...
A whole heap of awesomeness. Love this performance.
Magical.
Stunning.
Complessi del genere non esistono più. Bravi e grazie del piacere che mi date dopo 55 anni.
Beautiful ☮💟
refined and nostalgic and sweet the great musical elegance
Pure and lovely.
I love this song
I miss the time when music was made.
Never heard of this group before. I'm 30 so maybe that's why. But i'm happy i found them. I'm fortunate enough to have a very broad taste in music. My dad has a couple thousand vinyl records and used to play them when i was a kid (still does of course, i'm just not living with my parents anymore). Lots of good music out there. Too bad some people exclusively listen to just one genre.
In folk/rock there is Fairport Convention, Fotheringay, Steeleye Span and Pentangle (from the UK). The only one who really made it commercially was Steeleye Span. They are all brilliant performers of Folk & Folk/rock.
Well above the human creative mind, absolutely one of a kind 🤗
Immortal music.
What a song
What Beautiful Singing
I cry so beautiful it is
Jacqui Mcshee's voice was as singularly & hauntingly majestic and consummate as Judy Collins. One may discover a half a dozen such voices in a lifetime.😊
so beautiful
Thank you : )
Lovely🙃♥️
Here are the lyrics if anyone is curious...
Just like the songbird, deep in the forest
I sing praises but you never hear
And deep in my body my song is silent
But contented at times when you're near
Please listen to me and I will tell thee
All those words that have never been said
They shout inside me but then they cower
Behind weakness that's ruling my head
I dearly love thee and not one other
With a sweetness that lies in my breast
'Tis you that made me but God forbade me
To uncover my heart to love's test
No love is sorrow and now I'm happy
To have thee in this world for my love
And now you must know my soul is for thee
That's why this life is my soaring dove
That's why this life is my soaring dove
Thank you.. much appreciated
Thanks for taking the time , Pentangle are wonderful
*_Just so lovely ..._*
Thank You!
Great many thanks
Something beautiful..

Superbe!
Finally got around to checking out all six!
Beautifull :), thanks for posting.
Lovely. 👍🥰
And wasnt expecting the wailing slide guitar solo... 😯
Bert joins the 'Green jackets' LOL! Love this!
Totally love this band. They remind me of Jesus Fellowship people hahaha. All their songs are a tribute to the late Noel Stanton.Wish it could be the 70's/80's again.
The beginning reminds me of knights in white satin.
Simple and true.
I saw once John Renbourn live in my hometown. Strangely that night there was a football match on TV. The concert was in a very ancient unholy church, He arrived late, by coincidence just at the end of the football/soccer match. He was completely drunk 😊, the concert went terrible and it was also costly. I was very young, I still study his compositions.
🌹🎼♥️
Indeed
Top, top.... Nothing than superlatifs for this...
Such beautiful singing and music doesn't warrant petty arguments over who is best , quite futile to compare , just go and listen to your preferred choice if this isn't good enough .
Her vocals are perfection. im coming from a producer direction
Thx yt
You were all good bless you Paul payton Birmingham England xx lol marathara ✔❤☺🔯
I was looking at the way the clouds move.
Imagine a duet with Sandy Denny
Danny Thompson, bit of a dish in his day.....:)
la cantante parece sacada de un códice medieval, tiene ese tipo de cara
with Sandy Denny the best voice ever of the folk rock
Jammie .....
Good night nothing else matters now
We will all pass but yes they gave us something to remember
An England lost, a myth.
