- Here is a NEW trigger for Kahr Arms handguns called the Gallo-glass short stroke trigger made by Galloway Precision. It's a flat-faced trigger that reduced the trigger travel by 10%. The new trigger also decreases the trigger weight by 1/2 pound. Check it out and share your thoughts

The reason for the difference in trigger weight is that the curved trigger focuses the force needed to pull the trigger to the middle of the trigger. Where as the flat trigger focuses the force to the end of trigger giving you more leverage. The fulcrum effect.
First.
Personally, I don't see the need for this, as the Kahr trigger is like a really nice DA revolver trigger and is one of the teasons I like them so much and shoot them well.
However, in today's market, I bet many will jump on this.
I agree the trigger is heavy enough that I don’t worry so mush about an accidental discharge.
I agree with that but I have many Kahr handguns so checking out this new trigger is fun for me
@@TheFirearmGuy oh, it is absolutely worth checking out. I have used Galloway Precision stuff before in Kel-Tecs. They make good stuff. Just this one is not for me. I also don't seem to like flat faced triggers. Guess I am just wierd like that
i prefer the stock trigger myself. but as always 👍for your vids and dedication to firearms!!
I like the long trigger travel of the Kahr. It’s the safety of it for me. As some who had a ND with a light single action trigger I appreciate the longer pull.
Interesting idea, but I dont see the need. Kahr triggers are excellent as is. Once you know how to shoot the Kahr pistols, you’re golden. Jmho
Thanks ironhorse
If they get it to -50% I'll take a serious look. Looking forward to the range test, the stop in reset is concerning.
Thanks Chance
The longer trigger travel is a matter of safety. I'm not sure that dropping 50% of its travel would be a good thing.
@@moveabledo just like a Glock or m&p reset, no big deal.
I put a Galloway Precision trigger kit in a S&W 380 Bodyguard. It cut the pull travel by half and greatly improved the reset. The pull weight remained very heavy. Still, the kit vastly improved “shootability”.
Interesting trigger.
The comments are one of the reasons I like your channel.
Everyone has opinions and is cool about it.👍
Looking forward to the range test.
No doubt Chuckles. The people hear are great
Best modification I made to my CM 9 was the trigger spring from M Carbo. It reduced the trigger pull by about half.
The over travel screw looks fugly. It looks like an after thought. Hopefully the production version looks cleaner.
Yep, this is an early model
Nice thought, but I'm not one for changing things unless it works perfectly as advertised. Kahr makes a pretty decent trigger as it is.
Thanks Bob
I hope it works itself out. That's kind of weird how it stops just short of the reset. Guess we will find out when you test it.
I agree SP - will check it out soon brother
It looks very good for sure.
Thanks Ben
Dan, I like the Kahr system where the trigger is a true double-action, much like a revolver, and unlike most striker-fired pistols that are 80% to 95% cocked WITHOUT a true safety.
As to the difference the trigger pull weight before and after, your pull gauge was closer to the trigger pivot point on the curved trigger and farther from the pivot point on the straight trigger. I have found that on pivoting triggers, where the trigger gauge is placed can make a difference in pull weight.
As always, this is another in your long history of providing good info in a watchable video.
Thanks Rider. Great comment brother
Can we get an EDC update? I’d love to see your lineup
I plan to do that for 2020
Looks sweet. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks MD
Reducing travel by 10% isn't that much. Maybe if they bumped that up to 25% or more then it would be worth taking a look.
Thanks Johnny
I installed Galloway parts in my Beretta Nano and they make quality stuff I hope to try this for my CM 9 also.
Very cool Rick
Thanks for the demo. I don’t think i would mess with my CM trigger. I like it too much.
Thanks expo
I have an Aegis trigger in my EC9S. I loved the stock trigger, but the Aegis is phenomenal. I have Galloway Precision stuff in all my EDC pistols and never had a problem.
Good to hear Scott - thanks man
I SO WANT one of the 25th Anniversary Kahr's....but I would be hard pressed to make any changes to it. Now, if I can get them to send me one for a Range Report, I would be happy to get one of those triggers and see if my results mirror yours. I would just want to make sure to be able to return it to stock if it does not do what it's supposed to.
The 25th anniversary K9 is incredible. The cost is $1649. I certainly wouldn't remove the trigger because that may remove the lifetime warranty
@@TheFirearmGuy Someone from Kahr (shall remain nameless) said they would see about sending me something for a T&E at the NRA show. I wasn't thinking it would be the 25'er, but I guess I'm going to have to rattle some cages in Vegas.
I love the factory Kahr trigger.
I do too
KAHR TRIGGERS ON THE 9MM PM9 TRIGGERS PITCHES MY FINGER WHY?
m-carbo makes a spring set that gets it down to about 3.8lbs from 6.8lbs out of the box.
Good stuff bud
Cant wait to see your shooting review. I carry a pm9 black during the warmer months. I shoot it much better than my j frame.
Very cool Dani
You know, I’ve been watching your videos for a long time now, and you think I would’ve at least picked up a Kahr by now. I’ll just have to fix that! Thanks for sharing Dan. Sometimes one of the most interesting part about having guns, shotguns, rifles (besides shooting/training with them) is being able to accessorize them the way *you* want it, not the way everyone else is!! I think that trigger will smooth itself out after a range trip or two.
Much appreciated Kratos
Not sure I need 1 of these triggers..........but I want 1!!
Thanks Snake
The thing I like about the Kahr trigger is that it feels like a DA revolver trigger. Straight smooth pull.
Very smooth
I love my PM9 trigger for carry. I struggle a little with how far back it breaks. Does this trigger break any farther from the grip than the original?
Did you not watch this? 10%...
Panto yes I did. I did not inquire about trigger travel. I asked about the break point distance from the grip. Two different things.
I love all my Kahr Pistols. Hands down the smoothest DA triggers out there. Im interested to see how it preforms on the range and what the price point is for the trigger. Im also curious to see if that reset scenerio comes up. Great video. 👍🏻
Thanks Len
Almost nobody carries Kahr here in Seattle, but I love mine
I have a CW45 and a PM45, and they surprisingly take my 1911 mags. They are a fraction of the size of my "compact model" big name brand guns, but just as reliable and accurate. I like the Kahr trigger. It seems ideal for personal defense
No doubt Kris. Huge Kahr fan here too
Kris: Greetings from Maple Valley! All the LGS's around here seem to be top heavy with Glocks, very few Kahr guns are to be found on the shelves; however, I'm a big Kahr fan boy with PM9, MK9, K9 Elite '98 all found locally and a CW45 from a GB auction. I'm currently shopping for a MK40 or K40, preferably from an LGS, but that is unlikely so it's looking like it's going to be another GB auction buy. If you have a lead on a MK40 or K40, send me a PM. (I also have a G27 Gen3, but the Kahr's are metal framed which is what I'm after.)
Greetings from Kentucky.....I'll be curious to see the live fire testing and how the trigger reacts as well as your thoughts. I'm not sure what a half pound less pull would do for my PM and CW 45's. Have a blessed Christmas.
Thanks so much Frank. You too brother
bcz you hooked at the end of flat trigger, the pull was half lb less. you can not pull at the tip of the original trigger... if it can not be reset as you showed... it is bad. also, the screw stick out in back, look terrible
Dealing with a lot of sudden hardships right now and I pawned my T9 Elite the other day to pay off the pawn ticket on my RAMI BD. I know that sounds kinda stupid but I just personality think the RAMI is the greatest carry gun ever made. Anyways though...I saw this video and I really hope to have my Kahr back eventually so I can try this trigger out. The factory Kahr trigger is fine to me. I shoot a lot of double action revolvers. I usually even decock my DA/SA pistols before each shot, so I'm completely at home with the factory Kahr trigger. This flat one looks super intriguing though.
Galloway Precision is great.
No doubt bud
Honestly that little bit of sticking on the trigger that's keeping it from returning to full reset is probably just where the trigger is brand spanking new and needs a couple of range trips to break in.
Thanks Ryan
The return spring seems too weak, deal breaker for me. You'll have a really bad day if that doesn't reset when needed.
I don't know, Dan. That fat square trigger looks uncomfortable to me.
I like my CM9 just the way it is. Gotta practice them double-taps tho, the reset takes a little gettin' used to.
I dig Kahr triggers too 4d4
This trigger swap out has been a “nightmare” for me installing the flat trigger. In fact I have needed to give up and find a gunsmith who is willing to install. I did make a big mistake, I was packaging up the cm9 for delivery to the gunsmith and I was not thinking when I put the slide back on without any trigger in the gun! Now I can’t remove the slide…..idiot. Can the slide be removed without a trigger in place…..hope so.
That's pretty cool.
Thanks Aaron
With all due respect.....the trigger weight is probably the same. Why?.. with the factory trigger, your pull guage engages about midpoint on the trigger face ( top-to-bottom). When I watch the vid....you are placing the gauge hook closer to the BOTTOM of the flat-face trigger. This gives you more leverage and will result in a lower pull-weight reading. I'll bet if you tried this in the midpoint location.....both pulls will be about the same. Cheers.
I hear ya Wil - thanks
Its a bugger to get in, very frustrating. And your finger slides down to the bottom when its all the way back. I will change it back to the original when I build up the courage to mess with it again.
The only reason that you measured a 1/2 lb less trigger pull.....is because the point-of-contact with the flat trigger ( with the hook of your trigger gauge).....is now at the BOTTOM of the trigger....whereas the normal curved trigger forces the contact point at the CENTER ( height) of the trigger. The additional "length" of the new trigger acts as a way to give you more leverage and to make it appear the trigger is lighter. I bet if you were to contact the flat trigger at it's center...it wojuld be about the same trigger pull weight.
I completely get that however with this trigger the finger rests at the bottom of the trigger. I showed that with my range review
@@TheFirearmGuy ...I agree that the finger can more naturally rest lower on the flat trigger, yielding a lighter pull.
I carried a cm9 for a while. I could not get used to it I finally had to get rid of it.
Bummer Ryan
Dan I LOVE Kahr Pistols they are Ingenious in Their design. May I mention worked in a Pawn shop/Gunshop and I wrote for and received a Factory Original Kahr Arms breakdown/ Info Poster, today likely ir might be worth some money. I have always enjoyed your vids for their info and accuracy. This Vid is one of my favorites.
Galloway Precision makes some pretty good aftermarket triggers!
No doubt Leonard - thanks man
*Taking a Kahr trigger spring apart and then puttin it back together looks kinda like a pain in the ass first time you do it. Till you do it 2-3 times in a row then its easy. Then you don't do it for 2 years and it'll be a pita all over again*
That's about it B U
Thanks for sharing, Dan. You know how much I love Khars. The reset problem with this trigger makes me nervous. I always liked the revolver like pull on khar triggers. Keep up, Bro and Merry Christmas!
Thanks so much brother. Merry Christmas
Hello Dan! I think, only for me, the original trigger is best! I found a new in the box, except for less than 50 rounds though it, the CT9. Very low price! I just like double action "traditional" curved trigger!
Great video!
Best to ya',,,,!
At the end what happened? Did it work fine? Worth it?
Anticipation!!!
Looks advanced robotic, and will see your test results soon....Thanks!
Thanks MrTB9
Did the range test ever happen? I'm curious about the trigger reset issue, as that's a definite problem. I wouldn't feel comfortable even if it works ok in live fire. It shouldn't be hanging up at all.
That 1/2 pound reduction in trigger weight may be accounted for by the fact that you measured the Galloway trigger farther down giving you more leverage. The design of the flat face Galloway trigger allows you to do this unlike the original curved trigger.
Yes, I thought about that too
I don't own any Kahr firearms...But for the right price I'd pick up the cm9 and try, it out..
I like that flat trigger as thanks for the share....Good stuff....
Thanks Scott
So is it worth it??
If you still need to release the trigger nearly all the way to get a reset, then I probably won't bother. That's the only thing about the Kahr trigger that I don't really like.
Thanks Suburban
Interesting but I like the trigger on my CM9 just fine. It’s not like I’m shooting a competition pistol. Just self-defense (Usually a back up ankle gun) and the current trigger is plenty good for that . Thanks for sharing.
Thanks bud
Did u ever live fire this ?
I love my Kahr but I dont like the trigger travel lol.
With my cm45 I replaced the trigger with the pm45 trigger
What did you notice?
Aside from the break-in period I’ve noticed that the Kahr firearms with more frequent loading malfunctions and ammo sensitivity are their firearms with the dual springs. I’m uncertain why their shorter barreled firearms (3” and under) require the use the dual springs. Do you have a possible explanation for this?
I have over 10 Kahr handguns and they have all been great for me. I am yet to use their customer service for a problem
I'm looking forward to your follow up!
Thanks Aaron
Cool, but some should fix their mag design first.
Thanks O K
*HEY BROTHER _ WHY ARE ALL YOUR RECENT VIDEOS MARKED AS 'PRIVATE' SO WE CAN'T SEE THEM??? WHAT IS THE DEAL?*
Should be fine now
I know you said that you used to carry the CM9 but what are you carrying now? The P9, right? I seem to recall? Thanks for the video.
Yes, the P9 bud
I don't know about that one, guess we'll see. 👍🏼👍🏼👊
Thanks Jason
That is really nice!
Thanks Scott
Hey man I have a big question? Is the CW9 +p rated? Keep up the awesome works.
Pretty sure it is. Thick barrels in Kahrs
@@TheFirearmGuy should be a notice in the website but I didn't see. I guess imma have to try it lol Like A Man! 🇺🇸💪
Ya know danno I’m kinda stumped on why you ain’t a finalist in the gundie awards 🤔your well over 100K subs and I seen other channels in their that don’t hold a candle to to your content brother I say let’s raise some Hell good vid bro 👍😎🇺🇸🦅🍻
Thanks so much Kyle but I don't know what that is
TheFireArmGuy www.thegundies.com
I had a Galloway recoil rod for my Glock 43 the first one didn't fit correctly and neither did the replacement from them so I returned it for a refund.
Glad they accepted it back Walter
The curved trigger is why I have never owned the Kahr it seems to cut into my finger. A flat face might be the ticket.
You can check this one out Trees
@@TheFirearmGuy I will
I don't know...I'm thinking the trigger travel is too long for it to have a flat face..I'd pass myself.
Thanks Nick
*I couldn't click fast enough 😂 I think you should take it back out and do some rouge micro pollishing and see if you can take just microns off on what rubs on the side of the frame on both sides. About 1/3 of an ass hairs worth of pollishing should do it.*
May have to adjust after shooting it. Thanks brother
What do you carry everyday now.?
Kahr P9
TheFireArmGuy light and reliable 👍
Top gun has a used kahr PM 9 329.00 seen it today 12.3.19
Most likely gone by now
I’m not really sure what the big deal is with flat faced triggers these days. My trigger finger is curved, but maybe I’m missing something. 😉
I hear ya Ron
Do you know if the pm9 holsters can fit a pm40?
Yes they do
@@TheFirearmGuy thanks bro
If it ain't broke dont fix it still applies.
Ok thanks Kenny
To much trouble for such little difference! The Kahr isn't supposed to be a Target pistol eh!
You should try the new galloway trigger combined with the mcarbo spring kit: www.mcarbo.com/kahr-cm9-cw9-pm9-cm40-pm40-cw40-trigger-spring-kit.aspx .
The installation video contains about 1000 parasitic "'alright"s, but their parts are good .
I will check with them
Hey, what ever happened to your Andy Ruiz, Jr's most recent video. It shows "private"
It's up now. Had to make some changes due to copyright issues
the adjustment screw is just ugly protruding out the back like that.
Never bothered me
I wish you had waited to publish this video until the range session, instead of making it two parts.
What's the difference? I'm showing something you never saw before
Will this work for my cw9 ?
They are working on an updated trigger. I would check with G P
I dont like the look of it and the have good triggers already to me but thus for a great vid never a let down
Thanks bigg
Work it out a little and lube it up, hopefully you'll be good to go! Back to the original trigger that is🤦♂️
Maybe so, need to fire it - thanks MP
What is the extension screw in the back of the trigger for?
To keep the trigger from over travel. I'm not a fan of any trigger that needs that. If it loosens up and walks out it could keep the thing from going off when you NEED it to.
To adjust overtravel, i.e. the distance the trigger travels after it breaks. The less overtravel, the less you have to let off for reset.
Those guys said it best B F
But also to adjust the trigger to it's break point
Great video as always but terrible product. Galloway makes good stuff but they dropped the ball here. A flat face trigger is supposed to break at 90 degrees not start at 90 degrees.
Thanks Angel
interesting!!
Thanks brother
You thought right... interested! 🤓
Thanks Mort
TheFireArmGuy -- I am not yet sure if it is a good idea, though... 🤔 Really do want to see your tests (include the limp wristing 😆). On the one hand, anything that can make the follow-up shot reset sequence quicker (like trigger reset, being shorter and quicker), that is in-theory a good thing... although the whole point of it is to get that next shot off within the limited time your encounter affords you. But, shot placement considerations and all... one thing I always thought about the 6-round CM9/PM9 is that the characteristic "universal Kahr trigger" almost forces you to be more deliberate, and therefore makes the shooter deliberate with each of your six shots, making them count. Sort of like that, "Slow is Smooth, Smooth is Fast" philosophy. It's somewhat counterintuitive to the very tactical presence of a 9mm pistol, which is to provide more firepower downrange in the first place. But a single stack DAO micro simply doesn't behave that way anyway; so, tactically it is more like a revolver. It's super easy to run 6 rounds in various self-defense scenarios, and thus super easy to be out, fast... and as I typically have to strip my 6 rounder (i.e., doesn't drop free), my "tactical mentality" is as if I have a revolver anyway. Am I going to pop them off even faster with a better trigger, being less miserly with my limited firepower? We all know: in the movies, 9x19 sends you crashing across the room... but in real life, bad guys frequently take 3,4,5 or more before they even realize they're mortally wounded. I dunno, Dan... my point is: this trigger might just be one of those upgrades that turns out to be such a good, logical idea that it can only properly conclude with buying a whole new gun. And yet, that ain't the point at all. Interesting, indeed....
All told then: I have that dumb Hellcat meowing around in my brain (seems like a great design... really wish they hadn't named it "Hellcat" for a CCW weapon; "With legitimate fear for my life, I desperately answered this lethal threat by deploying my self-defense instrument... a HELLCAT, yeeha!" 🙄) ...and the revised 365 (Obvious is obvious: if ya gotta use lethal force, a plain clinical firearm with a P-designation, that now a boatload of police and professionals carry, will probably get you less of that vigilante gun nut evil-eye than a "Hellcat" 🤨)... plus, I just feel it is my civic duty to buy more guns nowadays, what with the colossal bullshit train roaring down the tracks in front of the next election. 🤣 Nowadays, it is a bona fide Patriotic Act to show the hella-hysteria crowd that Americans are buying more guns than ever, and they just cannot stop it.... boy, we love the "Sanctuary" sass, too.
Nevertheless... I'll soon be entering the seventh year of CM9 carry... and like yours, mine is crazy reliable... not matter how gnarly and gunked up. I still haven't replaced it-- I shoot it well, I know it works, and it's mighty comfy day in and day out. I've tried a few things... but it's a hard gun to beat for a daily CCW pistol. (Sold the LC9S some weeks back; never bonded with it like I do my LCR... all it did was make me wanna buy another LCR in .327 Fed Mag, which I will do before I am too old to remember what an LCR is...). I just have a feeling-- 20-24 rounds of 9x19 on board in a package smaller than the G26, and negligibly more noticable than the Kahr...I mean come on, we have the technology. I love my Kahr, and I truly love the design. But it's almost a foregone conclusion that this faithful EDC pistol is going to have a BUG role, and a newer higher-cap micro is going ro serve a 5-10 year CCW term. Mr. Moon might think of doing his first real new design in 25 years. There's still time!
Anyhow, no reply necessary... just making conversation on the wisdom of upgrading a pistol that is headed for retirement after a real good run. (maybe... probably... surely...). When I was religious about DA/SA and truly fast triggers: Once upon a time, I could hide a P226 and 30+ rounds under a T-Shirt on my washboard abs... 25 years later, I literally have a hard time believing I did that daily, for 2-3 years. If I even try to fit that rig in my waistband today, I'd probably end up in the ER with a hernia. Older, fatter, strikered with a third the firepower-- The Future in a Nutshell. Time for bed. Be safe, brother. *Buy more firearms, and do it For America!* 🤣🇺🇸
Looks like a waste of money and not resetting is totally unacceptable.
Looking forward to live firing this
Have you tried the new MagGuts kit for the KAHR 6 round mags?, it adds an extra round and still fits flush. magguts.com/product/kahr-9mm-magguts-for-6-round-magazine/
This is too painful to watch
Dang I'm here early
Thanks James
The trigger spring is in wrong.
