  • Remember the biblical patriarch, Jacob? He was the father of twelve sons that ended up making up the twelve tribes of Israel. But Jacob did not only have male children, he also had daughters. One of his daughters, prominently mentioned in the bible, is Dinah. Dinah was a cheerful, beautiful, and flamboyant young woman, living a dream life with her family. But her happiness was cut quite short by an incomprehensible tragedy. This video is about what happened and the series of other head-spinning events that followed afterward, when her father, Jacob, and brothers, Simeon and Levi, learnt of what happened.

Carnally the brothers revenge can seem valiant and legendary but God always knows best and we can jeopardize our future by impulsive and emotional based solutions. Vengeance is mine thus saying the Lord.

I can see their anger. Being a follower of God is hard because we must fight our flesh.

One of the laws of the Isrealite says, if a man rape a young lady and they are found, the man must marry her and must not divorce her for the rest of his life. The question here is, which young lady will agree to marry a rapist?. This law is tempting, one can take advantage of this law and marry a young lady that does not love him, for example, if a man saw a beautiful young lady and he knows that if he seek her hand in marriage, she will not agree or her relative will not agree, he will be left with no option than to rape her because he know that the law is in his favor. This is exactly what schechem did to Jacob daughter. He know that if he asked Jacob to give him his daughter, he will not agree because schechem is not circumcise, so he rape her.
The fact that the people agree to be circumcise, means that, chechem truly love Dinnah and also love her father and her brothers. The people of the city are more in number than Jacob and his people, they can start a war, defeat Jacob and his people, and take Dinnah but they did not, the choose to do it peacefully. The children of Jacob will have use this opportunity to convert these people from idolatry to the worship of the Creator of all, but they let their anger destroy the salvation of this people. The fact that the are circumcise, means they are already part of the Abrahamic covenant. What the children of Jacob did is evil, they are suppose to forgive the people not to deceive and kill them.

If this was the Calvary Chapel Solano w/Pastor Prudhomme his sermon 01/14 ~this was so excellent! Pastor Prudhomme “separated the bone from the marrow”! I’m certain many pastors do that all across the country but I have not heard one that good for quite awhile. You hit it out of the ballpark sir!

The man that have done that, is the guilty party. But still I remember that it was part of their couture and maybe that is why the guilty party did what he did. His family should not have been killed at all.

This is exactly why the 10th commandments says not to covet, and Yeshua said if you so much as look at a women with lust in your heart you have commuted adultery.

To Benjamin Morton, I don’t like your comment. Why are you even on here? You can call it, karma and say it’s not real, but God is justfull God that’s all I know.

I would say the brothers were justified in their actions. No offense, but leaving God in charge of the vengeance would be fruitless. God does not lift his little pinky for any human, he has more important tings to worry about. ( Remember Job ). Karma is not a real thing.

I see what your saying but they went overboard in killing the whole city, if they simply killed Shechem, then I could understand, but they went to far

At the 4 minute mark you say, “Perhaps Shechem had this in mind when he decided to unjustly sexually attack Dinah.” Why did you use the word “unjustly”, is there ever a “just” raping of a lady? When would I be justified in raping a women? Words speak volumes, choose them carefully.

Two wrongs do not make a right, however the fact that Shechem and his father agreed to ALL that would make things right, it totally puts Simon and Levi woefully wrong and shows they were more interested in obtaining booty for themselves. The fact that they still lived shows Gods mercy. Once they died and went before Him who knows? the fact that all the man agreed to abide by Gods law received a just reward in heaven. That I'm certain

You argument is based on semantics. "unjustly" is used as a descriptor. Of course it's wrong to rape anyone.

No I don’t believe that the video creator wanted in any way to differentiate between a just or an unjust rape On the contrary, by adding the adjective “unjust” before the noun “rape” he stressed more vehemently the loathsome action of Shechem
