SRS light resistor trick civic after market steering wheel

- This is a quick video on how to change your steering wheel with one that does not have an air bag and still maintain use of the passenger air bag.
This will also allow the SRS light in the dash to stay off.
This is shown for a 99 civic si. This may be the same for other year civic's.
2.2 OHM 1/4 watt 5% tolerance
Hope this helps.
finally a video how to maintain passanger srs with aftermarket wheel without srs light on! many thanks..
No problem. after reading a bunch of posts and seeing a bunch of not so helpful videos. I decided to make my own.
torch3812 very nice, thanks
Thanks dude, worked perfect. Nice ride btw
kway745 Thanks. Its a monster i love it!
Gonna try it this weekend
thanks bro!!! much love
Nice thanks dude
Hey so just say you get the Srs light to turn off are the other airbags still active? Will they deploy in event of an accident? Thanks
awkward129 as long as the srs light is off your other air bags should function as intended.
Can I do the same for passenger side when I remove the seat/belt? because I am getting this SRS light on the dash
Eissa Nasr i feel it may be a different resitance for each air bag.
Just pull the cluster and unplug the yellow harness from the back (all it does is illuminate the SRS light if there is a fault.)
204 Imports That will work for the light only. The srs system will still be in fault condition and passanger air bag will not function. Resistor puts the srs circuit in an okay condition.
torch3812 That’s true, doesn’t matter to me since I have no airbags. 🤞🏻
Have just tried this with the 3.3ohm resistor. It works until i turn the car on then the light comes back. What would cause that? Would i need to re set the ecu or anything?
Mine were 2.2 ohm if it is for the same car em1 or ek I'd guess that is the problem. Mines worked fine for me for a couple years now.
@@torch3812 mime is a 97 cd accord, am assuming its virtually the same wiring
@@GingerKidCustoms Ah. Wiring could be the same but the resistance of the airbags may be different. That or when I put my resistor in I unplugged the battery. This may have reset something. Maybe try that.
@@torch3812 nothing. Will have to test the resistance and see what if i even have the right resistors. Thanks for your help, much appreciated
can you send me a link of the resistor you bought? the ones that I bought didn't work for me. thanks so much men. Im really looking forward to fix my light

Thanks men. those where the ones I ordered and it didn't work. :( my light still on
djchino same, mine is still on too. 99 coupe.
You still have to reset the srs light. There’s a plug by the fuse box you have to unplug and bridge. Look up a video. There’s a bunch on here
Will this apply to a 2012 civic too?
I wouldn't think so. Id say it doesn't use the same system as my '99.
will this work on a Honda prelude 1997
I think it would. It may be a different ohm resister though.
how can I find out what Ohm resistor I will need
I believe if you ohm out the airbag that you are trying to remove with a multimeter it should give you what size you need. Not 100% sure though
Can you help me boost my 95 Accord please :P
i just tried to do this but it didn’t work for me...i twisted each wire around opposite sides of the resistor and the light stayed on...any thoughts?
Was this on an EM1?
@@torch3812 no an LS400....i have read from a few different sources that i have the correct resistor but for some reason im not getting the light to turn off...im hoping that it’s because i need to solder the resistor instead of just twisting the wire around it...ill keep tinkering
@@jcastro41 I'm not sure on that car specifically but on a fancy car like that it may have different options like side air bags that will change the resistance. Or the srs system may be more complicated than a Hondas. Im not 100% sure if it works this way but you could possibly ohm out the removed air bag with a multimeter.
@@torch3812 i do have a multimeter...when you say “ohm out” the removed air bag though, not sure what you mean by that...test the current in the wire? will that give me a better idea of what resistance is required? thanks for replying 💯
@@jcastro41 yeah on my Honda bag its a 2 wire. If you were to hook the leads to each end I believe it will tell you the resistance of that specific air bag. Then match that with a resistor.
Why just use the correct steering hublike the srk-131h with resistors.
I didn't know that existed
Just did it, didnt turn off the light i bought the same resistors and nothing
Dang this worked for my 99 em1. Did you unplug the battery?
So i put it in the plug then unplug the batt and nothing
What car?
*DONT FORGET TO RESET THE SRS LIGHT* I just plugged in the resistor and light was still on then I remembered you still have to reset the light.
David Good point.. When pulling off the wheel and disconnecting the airbag I had the battery undone. Always good to do. I had the resistor in there before hooking The battery back up.
I just installed the spoon resistor... and dealer reset computer... and SRS light came back on. once the error code is there did you do the paperclip method?
How do you reset
