  • Why did Honda make it so complicated? Swapping the steering wheel on this car is stupid easy compared to other cars I've worked on. But bypassing the airbag light requires a little more effort. Here's how to clear the SRS light on your Integra. Probably works on Civic, too!
    Did you my video on how to install an aftermarket steering wheel on an Integra? Check this video out:

    your videos are really well done. I've been searching forever on how to do this and yours is the most professional. You actually put the cameras where you can see where the screws are located and you edited it so I didn't have to watch some guy fumbling around all day. Bravo.

      @@rayregnogarage Agreed. I watched about 7-10 videos before I found the the one where you installed the wheel and got the horn to work. Everyone else seemed to just ignore the SRS light and live with no horn. That's unacceptable. It's almost like they just want to show close ups of their face and talk. 8 minute videos with 1 minute of content. Frustrating. Once again, great video. Thanks again. I can tackle the wheel install now.

      @@ef_danielsan Ya. I hear you on that. Quick note on the resistors I have been using. They seem to fail after a while. It happened on my Xterra and now on my Ranger. I don't drive the Integra that much so it hasn't happened yet. But just wanted to throw that out there. You can totally use the one that NRG supplies, but I started using the smaller ones because it makes the wiring so much cleaner. Let me know which one you end up using and let me know how it holds up over time.

    I already have my quick release installed from your previous video and I guess I’m just making sure I do this right. Do I need to put the wire for the airbag in up by the hub or does doing this make that step unnecessary?

    • @rayregnogarage
      @rayregnogarage  3 года назад

      Ya. if you look in my video, I cut the airbag wire way back to being the dash to clean up the wiring in the hub. It’s gets crowded inside the hub if you do the resistor in there. You can do it either way. You just need to put the resistor somewhere on the yellow wire

  • @89emeza
    @89emeza 3 года назад +1

    Bro thank you so much for this. Just a heads up. On my 2000 integra the airbag cable was a yellow connector with green wires. Yours seemed to look like grey ones connected to a black connector. Confused me for a bit. Especially since I bought the car with the new steering wheel already installed. They just never took care of the srs light.

    • @rayregnogarage

      Ya. .it's kinda involved. On my Nissan, you just had to turn the key on and off in a weird sequence. Didn't need do anything else. Airbag wires usually have yellow connectors. Mine did.

    • @rayregnogarage

      Hopefully soon. I have been splitting time between Spokane and San Diego. With the COVID stuff it’s been hard getting back to the beetle in San Diego. I was there a few weeks ago trying to sort out the overheating issue But no luck. In August, I should be doing a full cooling system overhaul. Also hoping to tow it to my shop in Spokane where I’ll have more time to work on it. Found a pretty cool tuning shop down the street from my shop, too. So excited to get working on it again. Thanks for checking in!

      Mine had an overheating issue too, so I took it to a shop and they removed the thermostat. They tried putting a new one but it just kept overheating again and again, so in the end they ditched it. The car can run without it as long as the temperature sensor and Coolant Temperature Sensor are in great working order. But an overhaul is the best option. Hope you can fix it soon!

      @@OwlManoloPR13 Interesting! The thermostat has been replaced recently, but the car is due for waterpump and timing belt, so I figured I'd do the whole thing. Getting the parts kit fro ECS Tuning. Will post video as soon as I can. Definitely miss running around in the car. It's super sad. It can only go a couple min before it overheads and I have to shut it off and let it cool down.

      @@rayregnogarage
      I hope you can fix it soon! Also, before I forget. If you're gonna buy a timing kit for the car, make sure the water pump impeller is metal if you want it to last, the OEM water pump impeller is plastic and it's prone to leak in there. Since the timing replacement in that car is a hassle because the engine has to be dropped down a bit to get easy access. It's best to put the metal one even if it's more expensive.
