Lovely and so delicate - really beautiful! Fra Angelico is one of my all time favorite painters. We studied him in my art history class as one of the founders of the renaissance. What pigments did you use for the face proplasmos? I love the lighter tone, it just glows!
I would love to see you try a study after Andrew Wyeth. In case you don't know him, he was a XXth american painter who painted in egg tempera. I would love to see what can be learned from him.
Antonios, do You use exact the same egg tempera emulsion like for byzantine icons? I thing in the West the added a bit of oil. Do You add oil to water (wine) & egg?
It always shocks and offends me when the drawing is so suddenly obliterated by the application of the proplasmos, but I am learning to trust that Antonis knows what he is doing :) I'm guessing that the drawing beneath is more evident to the painter than it is to the camera.
Such beautiful work. Thank you for sharing you wonderful talent.
You paint like an angel!

I haven't used any oil for this tutorial. Actually I have never used oil so far.
please Antonis, which board are you using by painting and which preparation? It isn't a wood board with gesso.
Congratulations, you are amazing!
Ismael I paint on boards prepared with rabbit skin glue.
Just a regular plywood
