The 40 grit 1 is meant to be used on rusted stuff while the middle one is meant to supposedly take off paint while the highest grit 1 is just meant for finishing only really after you use the other ones to make it smooth before you paint it but for sure the lowest grit 1 which is the roughest is definitely the best 1 and most useful!

Those finer drums aren't for rust removal. They're to give you that brushed finish on panels. Is this Variable speed? I've been thinking about getting one for finishing sheet metal panels inside my car projects and or furniture.
