The stop was interesting for sure. I personally didn’t mind it and happy to see bands taking risks. I’m surprised that nobody is talking about 2 tenor drummers in the lineup and that each drummer is wearing 2 drums….. ?
No, there’s no such thing as a break down in Pipeband playing. How ever you do get disqualified if someone takes both their hands off the chanter during the performance (which does not happen in a chanter cut, you’re just dropping a bit of pressure and shifting to high A)
That’s the thing with music, it’s subjective. What you think sounds a bit ridiculous might sound great to someone else or the judges. It’s a wonderful world we live in!
At least Scottish Power have a decent pipe band which is more than can be said of anything to do with how they run their business which is utterly appalling.
This might be an unpopular opinion, I can't stand the large cutoff portion at the end. Drones for sure wobble there so it doesn't even appropriately highlight what it's supposed to and it completely took me out of the moment.
we must emphasize and salute the great technical difficulty that this " chanter/break "represents! it’s really a performance, I especially find that it’s very well executed
Pipe bands sure are getting weird these days... Yeah, the false stop was an "interesting" trick, but what was that weird transition-thing between the slow aire and the strathspey? I found it very unnatural and unmusical; especially since it's such a well-known tune.
You have to try things. Sometimes they don't work. Sometimes they do. Tend to agree with you on the air to strath transition ... this one is trying a bit too hard and loses the thread.
@@RobRogers-Piper don't get me wrong, it's not like I think my old band could ever do stuff like this... I'm the piping equivalent to that guy who played football in highschool and now yells at the TV when he watches NFL 🥴.
That slow air is stunning. Pipes and drums accompany each other perfectly. Brilliant performance guys! 💪
Bravo Anaël !!👏😉
Fantastic.the tone is fabulous strong sound from the pipes first class
Great coverage as ever DC! Been waiting for your videos to appear! Definitely the channel "of record" now where RSPBA comps are concerned.
Excellent thank you 😊
Brilliant 👌😎
Piobaireachd in a medley?! Wow! 🙂
Two tenor drums per tenor drummer is an interesting change to the norm.
Read the 3rd paragraph in PipesDrums "Scottish Power on the hunt for drummers after departures".
@@stephennugent9958 yes saw that. Sad that a band like the Power has tenor drummer difficulties.

Just checked back - maybe it's a new 'thing' or their other tenor drummers could't make it that day (?)
I wonder if they have different pitches?
Heard that it were some kind of problem in the drum section. That the other tenors left or some😕😕 maybe just a rumour🤷♂️

@@liamsvaneberg2688 Disappointing for the whole band, if that's the case.
Lovely quality video 👍 Does the false finish technically count as a 'breakdown' in the rules? (I have no idea)

@@Reglare didn't know that, thanks!
No chanter stops started being a thing last year. This one made more sense musically than some of last year's efforts.
I think the cut off was cool but maybe it should be placed differently so it is more musically effective.
is there really any need for that MASSIVE cut off at the end. it’s not adding anything to the performance and just sounds a bit ridiculous

The drones are solid.
