All of my RSV Bibles that include the Apocrypha place it after Revelation. No surprise there. I’m impressed that Schuyler chose to make an RSV with the Apocrypha, that’s a first for them.
I received mine yesterday (I also got the firebrick red). I love it, it melts like butter in your hand and it has beautiful architecture all around. I have wanted a Schuyler for years but, being Orthodox, I could not see paying the premium price if it did not have all the books I needed. When I saw Schuyler was going to do this, I pre-ordered right away as soon as it was available. I am not disappointed!
Love this bible Tim. I hope this bible's success encourages Schuyler to continue including editions with the Deuterocanonical books. Hopefully the NRSV or KJV are next :).

Got my copy with black goatskin yesterday - also preordered last April. It is wonderful, well worth the price. The RSV is a classic English translation, and one of the best. The craftsmanship is stellar. Thank you for your review. I appreciate your enthusiasm.
I just got the blue version as a gift from my mom for my 44th birthday. One good point and one consideration if getting the blue. I'll discuss the consideration first. The art gilding is gold/blue. What do yellow and blue make? Green! So the art gilding tends to look green in certain situations. Not a huge deal, but something to consider. When it's open, it's blue. When it's closed, it's a bit green, but the yapp tends to cover most of it, so it's not a big deal. I do kind of wish they had gone with silver instead of gold for the blue edition as it might have colored a bit better. The drop caps are amazing!!! It really gives a sense of place when reading the Bible, and makes it easier to remember scripture because it makes it easier to remember where on the page a particular passage is. I was able to easily figure out that you opened initially to pages 638 and 639, largely because of the placement of the drop caps. All in all, this was a great gift, and I know I'll be using this one for quite a while to come!
Woohoo, great looking bible. RSV is a great translation often sidelined these days. Love the red & full yapp, soooo looking forward to my full yapp green ESV Quentel arriving someday soon!
Awesome video. Mine arrived a few days ago, black full yapp and it is absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad that Schuyler decided to publish the RSV with the Deuterocanon. It's hard to find premium editions that contain all of the Catholic canon. Now, if Schuyler makes an RSV PSQ with the Deuterocanon it would be the perfect Bible and I would never have to buy another Bible again! Well, unless someone decides to publish a personal size premium version of the ESV Catholic Edition - but that's just my fanciful pipe dream! If that happens, then that really will be the last Bible I ever buy!
hey Pastor Tim, have you ever used USPS for a bible from Evangelical Bible and did it arrive on time? because i just got an RSV Schuyler Quentel in Imperial Blue Goatskin and i wanted to go with FedEx but, for some reason it went with USPS as the shipping so, i was just wondering if you've ever used USPS before when it comes to ordering bibles as expensive as these kinds and if you've ever had any issues with the bibles getting lost in the mail or anything like that?

I ordered it in red coming next week without the yapp as I am not a yapp person. I hope it’s built nice as it’s my first Schuyler. As I was so disappointed with my first Allan the quality was so bad I had to send it back.
I’m on track to receive mine tomorrow-a black full yapp. After seeing this video, tomorrow can’t come fast enough. I had such a hard time deciding between black or red. I even had the red in my cart at one point. 😂 Can’t go wrong with either!

I received my black full yapp yesterday. It's my first Schuyler, my first premium. So, I guess there's no going up from here 😆 I wanted green until the full yapp was announced and choose fy over green since I couldn't have both in the same edition. Now I'm waiting for somebody to post pics of the green out of curiosity. It's a beautiful Bible! Can't wait to teach from it this Sunday!
Evangelical Bible says that the font is a 10pt Milo not an 11pt. (5:11) You'll see there are quite a few more words per line as compared to the ESV Quentel. The 11pt has about 6 words per line and this one has about 7-8 words per line. Just something to think about before your review. I ordered a black one without the Apocrypha because it is only 1in thick and the font and typeface looks more spaced and less busy than all the other Quentel editions. Great unboxing though. These are great looking Bibles with a beautiful design.
the one without the apocrypha looks less busy and the font and typeface look more space compared to the one with the apocrypha? if that's what what you're perceiving I'd be surprised and interested to understand why, because if there's a difference between the two this implies each of the two has it's own distinct typesetting with it's own pagination etc? but seeing as the apocrypha is just put at the back after the NT there's no reason (let alone cost/efficiencies) why schuyler would do two different versions in terms of layout specs (font/typsetting etc like you say). I'm assuming I'm misunderstanding your comment but clarification would be welcome. Tim thanks for the vid - re: it being a 10pt font, it would be good to know (either in your review or in comments) how this compares to the 10pt in the treveris - i can't see in the treveris itself nor on EB what the actual font it's set in is but the copyright page says 2k Denmark and don't think it's milo like the q's (though it might be, am less familiar with it tbf) and get the feeling it could be (or at least it reminds me of - if it's exclusive to them?) a semi bold version of the lexicon font crossway use in their esv's. the comparison would be v helpful!
@@Tom-qo4mz no that it not what I am saying at all. The 10pt font in all of the RSV’s look less busy than the 11pt in the rest of the Quentel line. Go compare the pdf of the different translations side by side and you’ll see what I mean. Besides being 1pt smaller the RSV Quentel seems to have more line spacing which helps in readability. I’m not sure how the 10pt milo in the RSV compares to the 10pt in the Treveris but I would bet they would be similar.

All the reviews written or otherwise keep saying the font is the same but EVB on their site state that the font is a 10 point milo in the RSV. All the other standard Q's they say have an 11 point Milo. I love the 10 point choice in this as it makes it even more of a carry Bible and yet is still so easy to read. I bought the OT and NT only version and it is more like a large print thinline in hand. I just love it.
The older 1954 Thomas Nelson and Son RSV also has the same drop letter except that it’s only on the first letter of each chapter and then nowhere else. I have an original copy and get this, it’s in the original box. I bought it used but it’s in pretty good condition. The stamp on the box is very detailed as to what’s inside and is still very much intact so that cool and the pages on the Bible have red art gilt. But I also need to get me a copy of the Quentel RSV as it’s super hard to find, if not even impossible, to find a premium RSV Bible other than through Schuyler. Maybe the Catholics don’t care but us Protestants we like our Bibles to made from high quality materials. 🤷♂️ 😂

Another RSV 1953 in the original box and the same year with KJV with original box and get this, it has a full yapp. It can’t wait to receive it. I got them from EBay.
Thanks so much for your review! Mine comes in on Monday and I'm quite excited! This is one of the very few premium's to include the full Apocrypha, and as a "give me red everything and a full yapp" kind of guy, I am super pumped about this one. As a theological conservative, I'd rather see an ESV version like this though, but some of the more traditional language of the RSV (begotten, brethren, etc.) and especially the use of classic Jacobean English in prayer/direct address to God is wonderful! Of course, NASB77 does the same, but I don't think I'd ever see that printed with the Apocrypha from a different translation, so this is definitely going to be a gem on the shelf unlike anything else! Thanks again for the sneak peak! This is Schuyler's first full yapp firebrick red with red art-gilding, and I hope they do many more! A Red letter NKJV for the ultimate red experience would be unreal!
Since the majority of Christians in the world both historically and presently have regarded the Apocrypha as canonical, I'm glad to have it included in my Bible for reference and edification, even if I don't personally regard it as canonical. I also find it quite valuable for understanding the world of Second Temple Judaism that Jesus was born into.
I have a NRSV from Cambridge and Amazon. With anglisised language e.g. NOT changing gender stuff. It must have not been selling for it was only about 60 $.

The NT was first released in 1946 and has been superseded by the ESV for some, and by the NRSV for others. Why Schuyler did not produce a NRSV, which the market could use, only Jesus knows. Perhaps Schuyler chose to wait to an NRSV until after the update, which has been in progress for about three years, is done and available for printing (will be released in November and available to print next summer).

It provides a unique “bridge” between the KJV and modern English translations. 2. The RSV predates gender modification of nouns/pronouns which are found in most modern translations.
Looks fantastic and includes all the books in the Catholic AND Eastern Orthodox canons of Holy Scripture. A truly ecumenical Bible.

I would like this in an ESV without the apocrypha. The dropcaps are awesome and I love the red. I'd really like this in the WMQ or PSQ.
I doubt they’ll change the ESV typesetting that significantly, but maybe one day!

Honest Question .. Why would someone who is not a Catholic want the Apocrypha in their Bible.
Anglicans and Episcopalians use the Apocrypha as well.

Even if Schuyler is great and evangelical bible is sending out damaged QUENTEL s ..there is a break in quality for 205 $. I think.
