Double doors and double windows are extremely good insulators and much cheaper than double glazing, which are sealed. The combination of two panes of glass and an air pocket keeps heat in and noise out. Simple solution to two common problems in cold cities.
I can relate to the dryer using a lot of energy. Even though I had a professional installation done of my dryer vent running to the outside, my dryer still has to run forever on heavier loads. I live by myself and don't have much laundry thanks goodness.
Wow it was very long time ago, but I wanna say that you already have dryer... the washing machine has dryer function.. you don't need extra dryer~ after finishing the wash it dries, but you have to know how to use it~
Korean apartments don't have clothes dryers because of two reasons. First is, dryers take up huge amounts of electricity, so Koreans want to conserve energy and save on the expenses. Second is that Koreans prefer ultra-violet sun drying, to kill germs and dust mites. Clothes dryers tend to make dust mite populations to multiply. Koreans also don't use ovens, only stoves. Korean cooking have no recipes that require baking, so it's unusual that your home has one.
The features on these apartments are very cool. But it is interesting that there are so many things requiring energy you would hardly ever see in North America, like the sanitizer in the kitchen or the electronic toilet or the TV in the tub or the touch panel on the fridge or the remote to turn the lights and fan on or the floor button for the sink, yet there is no dryer? It just doesn't seem like energy conservation is the reason. It is a great use of a balcony to dry clothes.
+kris Sharp You don't understand how much electricity dryers consume... they consume 2,000W an hour, almost large as air conditioner. Those little gadgets can't even beat it.
the washing machine in the video has dryer in it.. but they just didn't know it~ recently most of washing machines here in Korea can dry after washing~ it is like All in one

Hey there. Thanks for sharing your video. 2 Questions: Was it a difficult process to get your cat there? And, do apartments tend to have dishwashers? I know you posted this a while ago so thank you in advance if you get around to answering this :)

No need to Know. That would require these foreigners to put an iota of effort into learning the language.

I'm guessing most apartments don't come with dryer's because electricity is expensive.
