@@FastMonty I grew up in a very nice neighborhood in north Seattle. Just down the street was Naval Air Station Seattle (Sandpoint). My best freinds dad was a Petty Officer so I was on base a lot. There were many Squadrons of all types as well as a SeaBees unit. This was at the height of The Vietnam War and you could hear taps being played every night at 5'oclock. By the time I graduated from High School there was no draft and no war so I was working instead of soldiering. I collect USN flight gear and deck jackets now.

@@WillyMcCoy50 Thanks for sharing your story... yeah, I was around planes a lot, when I was super young. I too wanted to fly for the Navy, but just didn't work out. My Dad still has his flight gear, which we've started having my 6 year old son wear... which is hilarious. Anyway, thanks again for your comment.

@@FastMonty Naval Airstation Seattle is now a huge city park. There is a large off-leash dog park I go to everyday. My dog and I ran into the last base commander a while back. He was a Navy Flier just after WWII. He was flying off aircraft carriers when the Navy was transitioning from piston to jet power. He talked about the first series of carrier jets and their shortcomings. He laughed when he told me his Squadrons' name was "The Fighting Red Cocks". Fliers are among the world's most level headed people I have ever known. They have a great outlook and fantastic sense of humor.

I literally burned many of tires and clutches alone cost more than the whole car.Long story short I loved my first Pontiac which a few more came along the way.Awsome job remod love that color love the car, excellent story man! I have a ‘69 midnight green convertible in the works. Just like you, I welded a lot. In fact, convertibles were worse on rusting, I replaced practically 75% of the sheetmetal. It’s worth it though, I love the ‘69 body style. My goal is to make the body as nice as yours. I know the panel fitment isn’t easy to align with this bulging body.

The fact the original block is still with the car, makes the car 100% worth any value appraised. When a car does not have its original engine, it is worth 50% of value. Always keep the original engine, even if you replace it with another.
