Very nice GTO. That Goat is absolutely beautiful!!! Never mind that she is slow at the track , she looks fast sitting still. Those huge ralley wheels don’t do her justice and kill her chances of any decent time slips at the track. When I see muscle cars at the track with big wheels and rubber band tires I know they are not serious about running quick . But hey that’s ok , to each is his own. You got a great car there. When you want to run a decent time lose the huge wheels and run some DRs then that ole Pontiac will redeem itself.
You know what? I'm happy for you and your mighty GTO! You'll get it dialed in. You know what to do. I had the same problems on my '66 with those amazing F70/14 Goodyear Plolyglas tires. I see you don’t know how to drag race. Short shifting, and you can’t get grip from your tires. Need to get them heated up son.
Ha! No kidding. Pretty sure I said I was a rookie. Had fun with 600 lb ft of torque though.
@@FastMonty yeah I know about 560 lbs of torque and I need more tire as well. Burns rubber in 1st, 2nd with ease, thus the reason I don’t drag race. But I’m glad you had fun. I have a 75 formula with a 462 Pontiac motor, with a 5 speed Tremic. Bought it back in 76.
@@FastMonty I have a ton of upgrades, too munch to list. Love your car.
@@shannonshepard5047 nice! Yeah, gotta love Pontiac power. I may never drag race again either. Next race event is autocross. Can't wait to do that, cuz that's what it's built for. Congrats on being a single owner car, as is mine. ;)
@@shannonshepard5047 thanks Brother. I know what it feels like to have too many options to list lol. I just have to tell Pontiac guys, Butler 470. Lol. See ya!
You're not doing a burnout that's getting any heat in your tires. In fact, I would bet money you still had water in the treads when you were staging. You would be better off going around the water and just staging.
Yeah, very plausible. But, the track officials were telling me that street radials warm up extremely fast, to the point they're slippery. I'm sure it depends on the tire brand, treadwear rating, etc... no worries, still fun. Thanks!
