- In Episode 27 of ‘Cars, Shops & Collections’ we visit Jeff the owner of a 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge!
Some may say the Pontiac GTO Judge is one of the greatest muscle cars of all time… I tend to agree! Jeff’s frame-up restoration has to be one of the top ’69 GTO’s in the country! From the classic Carousel Red paint to iconic Ram Air III engine this Judge is a show stopper!
Jeff gives us the interesting history of his GTO. From it’s time at Dengel Restorations in Montana to crossing the auction line at Barrett Jackson.

All that went through my head before he opened the hood was, "Please don't let it be an LS, please don't let it be an LS..." Thank God! Love to see a Pontiac engine in a Pontiac. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL car!

It was Rowan and Martin's Laff in TV show. It was a real popular show back then, and Sammy Davis Jr would make cameo appearance and do skits where he played a judge. Seems like yesterday when that show was on tv. Goldie Hawn and Judy Carne, Ruth Buzzy, Lilly Tomlin, Henry Gibson and many other played on that show.
Oh man…that’s one sweet ride.
I don’t care if it’s not all original; love the aftermarket parts.
The car looks very together and awesome at the same time.

I grew up with cars like this when they were a common everyday street scene. My current car and daily driver is a 17' Super sport Camaro 6 speed manual.
The motor is amazing! Plus it has a motor temperature in the hood? Wow amazing.😊

Luckily I am old enough to remember when these came out, in fact I a old enough to remember the whole evolvement of the muscle car scene. I wasn't old enuff to drive but have been a car nut since riding my tricycle in the late 50s.
In 68, I used to tell my dad I wanted a car like the Monkey mobile(GTO convertibile). In 1970 my parents came home with a "new" car, a 68 gto. In '75 my senior yr in hs I got the keys. I still have the car, stored(barely), though we've both been through alot. I kept it mostly in memory of my dad. I remember one time after school(JC) I saw a '68 firebird in front of me at the stop light. It was the same verdero green with black vinyl top. The kicker was that my licence plate was XXX X71, and it's plate was XXX X72(only last 2 numbers are real. I wanted to follow them home but I was late for work. Never saw them again. I often read stories of people wishing they still had their old cars. My wish is to one day get my goat back on the road, even if not fully restored. I've suffered through 2 very costly divorces(25+yrs), and even though I've been able to maintain custody of my kids, both times, I've paid through the nose and my cars have just sat in storage. I'm past that now and am getting back above water, but time is taking it's toll on me. I'm not bitter, I just don't want to park it in my front driveway to just pose.

My 69 Judge had the vacuum headlights and white interior I sure miss it.

The show was "Rowen and Martin's Laugh-in" which was where Goldie Hahn became a star. Paul Revere and the raiders also did a song about it, and they did a GTO commercial as well...

Even an original 69-70 gto are really good highway cars, really smooth comfortable for old cars! But definitely got fix the bump steer problem with the control arms

my grandpa built one. it was green then they painted it this way.
GTO=Grand Tempest Option was the original designation in the Pontiac offices.
Laughin was the Tv show Sammy Davis Jr was the original Judge. Lol

Carousel Red is the same color as Chevrolet Hugger Orange used on Camaros at the time. The name is just Pontiac marketing. 🤟😎🤟

But it was John DeLorean AND Jim Wanger! Jim is the Godfather of the GTO!!
Its the same color as the 69 Camaro but Chevy gave it a different name.

The Judge For 1970 Orbit Orange ,Was A Feature Car In 2 Adam 12 Episode, Same Car In 2lane Black Top ,Same Car in The Opening of Beretta With Robert Blake ,Also A Feature Car In Kojak ,And The Same Car In Dazed and Confused . The Advertisement for the Car Was Long Standing.

In 70 orbit orange was the gimmick color equivalent to the 69 carousel red..Cardinal red was actually red, orbit orange was a yellow, huge problem with this video, the music over the sound of the car is definitely blasphemous!!

I fully disagree! There is ZERO reasons not to make a car your own with personal touches as long as you keep the original parts!
