As a tourist, I loved staying near Kinshicho station and I really recommend it. It's quiet but at the same time there's lots of night life. There are 5 or 6 malls around the station, so you have lots of places to explore, stores and most of the restaurant chains. The park is beautiful and sometimes there's a small thrift market with food stalls and live shows. There's a big 24 hour supermarket on the basement of the Parco mall whichs sells great sushi bento and has self checkout machines that take 1 yen coins, so you don't have to carry them everywhere and count wasting cashiers' time. Near the supermarket there's a Taito Station were you can exchange your bills for coins if you need change. The access to Tokyo station is easy and fast because the express trains stop at Kinshicho. There's a really long park, which was a river, that takes you all the way to the Skytree -or you can just take the Hanzomon Line-.
So happy to see you do a walk of the lesser known spots and ending at a popular spot. It lets people see how the smaller neighborhoods connect with the large tourist areas of Tokyo.
Arigatougozaimasu, Rion, for highlighting Sumo wrestling on this episode and for introducing me to the Sumo museum. Grand Sumo is one of my favorite sports to watch. One day I hope to see a Grand Sumo tournament in Japan. 👍🇯🇵
It was so awesome seeing you in Shinjuku! Can’t believe we got so lucky to run into you right before the crosswalk. Can’t wait to continue seeing what great content you continue to have :) it was my wife’s birthday when we meet you, such a great birthday surprise 😂. Too bad my toddler didn’t realize what a celebrity she was missing out on 😅
6:20 Kinshicho supermarket is good, a variety of bento choices😋👍! 15:50 cheese and tomato 🧀+🍅= 🍜 😋, the soup is Oishiii with rice🍚😋, 20:01 Japanese puffs are meccha Oishiii 😋! 24:01 The flower shop sells such cute pottery decorations💐😍! 25:26 This is the Sumo family🤨😎! 28:40 beautiful view 🤩, 29:42 souvenir shopping time 😄! 32:36 beautiful night view 🏙️😍! 33:41 What a beautiful view😍! 34:15 Sanpo to Akihabara Station 😉! 36:10 wow! I really like this video part of the perfect night scene in Akihabara 🫡 👍👏! Thank you so much to Rion, let’s keep walking to Kinshicho and Ryogoku Station, beautiful night Akihabara view 🤝!!!
We visited Kinshicho on our last visit to pick up something at Parco. Since we were in a rush we didn't walk around the area beyond the station. Thanks for showing us around the area, will spend more time there next time. Happy to hear you are a Forty Niner fan, I am rooting for them too!
Very interesting video, dear Rion. I never would imagine that so relatively close to Tokyo station there is a nice more peaceful town with so many residential spots, so suitable for families, but still with all the necessary for everyday life close at hand. The vibe is of course different, but seeing the Tokyo Sky Tree in the backgroud confirms that it is quite close to the central Tokyo. No wonder, that there are also so many hotels there. Perhaps it is a secret spot for accomodation of well informed visitors. Although wrestling is not my cup of tea, it is nice to see that there is a free place for watching it more as show less than competition, for Sumo is unique for Japanese culture, as well. This video with new vibe shows the variety of possible new expirience not far from such a signatute spot as Akihabara, really quite supprising for me. By the way it is really last month for enjoying winter and snow and as this year the February has got 29 days you should pick some time you please for that. As for me I would like to see the North of Japan, perhaps Tohoku would be nice to be explored fo this purpose. Looking forward to more of your snow adventures. Let's keep snowboarding!!🏂🏂🏂GAAOOO....
Rion so glad you ventured over to the Ryogoku Kokugikan we visited there in 2016 but didn't maximize the area. The Ryogoku Edo Noren was the very place that I've been looking for in my planning for the 9th Japan trip in March, just pinned it on Gmap 👍 The Dohyo Sumo ring looks really 'interesting' to view. We also overlooked the Sumo area on the second floor of the station area so will check it out in March. You definitely should go back with your parents and watch some Sumo matches and visit the souvenir shop too. Haven't been able to line-up a day at the Sumo myself as yet, but it's on the "Will do list". I've watched all the tournaments on NHK-World here in Australia ever since our first trip to Japan in 2016. Another great walk Rion, VERY well done 👍 Let's be learning together, and let's keep walking 😃. Japan is the playground of the World 🌎🚀
I loved this one Rion! I didnt really know much about the Kinshicho area, nor the Ryogoku area (other than it being the sumo town) I really like that you went SUPER LOCAL here and you really show what its like without making the experience too self centered like other content creators that just have the camera on them 95% of the time and dont show much of Japan. Youre def my go to for virtual travel to Japan. Cant wait to go back in 2025 for my 3rd visit to Japan 😊
For winter sports, I would recommend snowboarding or ice skating. However if you want to do something that requires no thought, go snow tubing. That is really fun and you can record a lot of cool videos too. Thanks again for the video. Love these videos!
I had stayed in Kinshicho station when I was in Japan and I didn't realise until you shared with us in this video. It was familiar and when I saw what was outside the station, I'm quite sure. It was cheaper in terms of standard of living compared to the popular tourist spot. Good place.
Interesting local town. Would love to explore next trip. Thanks for showing us new town and what we can find over there. Always love local town like this, quiet and nice. Tks for loads of your hard work! The night scene is so beautiful! Please keep walking and showing new town ;) love it!
After reading your comment about Sumo wrestling, I watched a few minutes of the recent Grand Sumo tournament. It was, as Rion often says, "interesting". 😄I agree with your feelings about cold weather, but I give you credit for finding ways to enjoy it. 😊🏂
I enjoyed seeing a lesser known area of Tokyo. Thanks for introducing it to us. My husband and I will be back for our 6th visit to Japan in September. We will definitely visit these areas that you introduced. Would definitely enjoy seeing more of these type of videos!
OMG we were at Akihabara during night on 30Jan and me & my husband stayed at APA Ryogoku that you went!! Quite sad I couldn’t meet you during my vacation at Japan. Hope to see you when I visit Japan again!!
I really enjoyed this video. I'm so excited because this is the area I'll be staying at for my trip so this video is also useful for me as well. I'm surprised it's so close to Akiharbara, too. 😮 Nice to include scenery from your bike ride. Also, you can never go wrong with meals containing cheese and tomatoes 🍅 😊Thanks again for the hard work!
We love LIFE Supermarket - their plain donut twists are to die for! Oh, and Kinshicho has a fun little love hotel - Hotel Sara....good times! The art piece in front of the museum in Ryogoku is actually a kid's playground...and I think the museum is the Hokusai Museum. Ah...memories...anyways, great video as always!
34:20 when I stayed in akihabara (at the via inn) that bridge was super useful for getting across the river into that part of akiba. it was a nice surprise to see it in the video.
Oh, what a happy walk exploring this interesting local town! It was a delightful thing to see and experience something new.😊 Strolling around vibrant Akihabara at night was totally awesome. More biking adventure!
Thank you for taking us on another lovely adventure, Rion-san!! That tomato cheese ramen looks really good (I'd have to have some spice too haha!) Can't wait to see your channel hit 200k subscribers!!! がんばって!!
Hi Rion, I’m new to your Channel! I’ve been watching all your videos and I’m loving it! Hopefully you can show us the Kanagawa area since I will be travelling there in a few days. Thank you! Looking forward to your new videos! 🦁
Hey Rion, That tomato ramen looked delicious. Will have to try it when I'm next in Japan. I have also been watching the NFL and supporting the 49ers. Mahomes has won the Super Bowl twice already.
Love this and any video where your “I have heard” becomes “Now I see” & “I’ve always wanted to try” becomes “Let’s try this!” ✨ Ooh, that was a tough one, but in the end, I knew the Californian in you would win. 😎 Also, while prevention is best, a Tide To Go Stain Remover pen could help with occasional small spots. 😉
Thank you, Rion. I'll be there in 13 days, coming from the USA! I plan to visit Akihabara on one of the first days... Maybe I'll do it by bike. Let's keep riding. Gaooo!
Hey Rion! I have been watching for a while and I love all your videos! Could you make a video in Tachikawa? I will be moving there soon and would love to see the area! Thanks and keep making great videos!
I stayed in Ryogoku and Kinshicho for 8 weeks. And I still didn’t explore enough. I went to Akihabara a lot. Asakusabachi. A lot. I need to move and live in Japan
I was in Kinshicho and in that same building with the big supermarket. And I wish I knew it was there. Could have saved a lot of money and made dinner myself. Love tomato ramen. Especially with eggplant and cheese.
I love seeing this other area of the city! So interesting. Please explore more for us! I'd love to see you dine at a sumo restaurant. Love from KC,MO! GO Chiefs!
Every video i post i ve benn there 😂 But i stayed one night near the sumo stadium in a hotel. I had railpass and i was in osaka but my other german friend he left to go back to germany 2 weeks earlier than me and he was in tokyo. So i came to tokyo for one day with railpass to drink with him and friends. Than i stayed in the cheap hotel there and than i went back to osaka with my railpass😂 anyway かんぱい🍻🤣

Rion, stop being so damn cheap when it comes to eating. It’s amazing that you will buy these highend Apple Watches , camera equipment but when it comes to eating you nickel and dime how much you spend. Lol 😂😂😂😂

For those wondering, the tomato noodles shop is called: 太陽のトマト麺 Taiyo no tomato men. They have it all over the Tokyo area.

Rion follows NFL? That's kind of cool! Kinshicho looks like a hidden gem in Tokyo, and so close to Tokyo Station.

I have also been watching the NFL and supporting the 49ers.
Mahomes has won the Super Bowl twice already.
Great video to show another side of Japan.I only remember kinshicho station as a place where Pokémon players gather 😅 thanks

The world's largest Daiso is located in Arcakit shopping mall. Also, if you go to the rooftop of the mall, you get a fantastic view of Tokyo Skytree!
There's a really good APA hotel tower -- nicer than most APA hotels -- near the Sumo arena that's perfect for tourists.
These videos are super helpful for me.
Since I plan to visit Japan in 2024 or 2025.
👍
arigatou
Konnichiwa Rion-kun.
