This is a work of art. I've got such respect for this.
You never cease to amaze me with your skills and creativity
You should take a couple of small nitro engines and combine them into a V8 or l6 engine and then make a 7-8 speed gearbox. That'll be awesome 😁❤️.
A h-16 would be nice. :)
8 speeds and a v8 would be such a big job to create ,not like I'm saying he shouldn't tho....
Hehe, yeah then it'd produce 5 lb/ft of torque instead of 2 lol
Does have a 6 or 7-speed switch on a remote control?
@@abdulmuhaimin5274 LoL.
Man, watching your videos is like a free therapy session! relax!🤗
I’m glad you got it all revised and working! Looks smoother too!
What I like about this channel is there is no intro just straight to the video
I couldn’t help but smile seeing the gears shifting… absolutely incredible execution!
This is just WOW! Your precision of work never stops to amaze me.😲
Automotive engineering is still Humanities greatest Mechanical achievement.
acriylic top, sealed and partially filled with oil for best efficiency and gear lubrication
The smoothness of those gears is absolutely incredible. Top work!!
Right on! Can't wait to see this car. These transmissions are amazing.. very cool Johnny
At 3:27 you should have used nesting with CAD/CAM software you are using, it could save you a lot of raw material, even though it is not expensive.
Awesome work, as always. Could be possible to round the base of the plastic teeth on the dog rings? I think a rounded connection between planes of the material is stronger than a 90º straight angle that causes stress on the corners.
This is exciting, I can't wait to see the car you make for this monster. Freakin awesome work buddy
My biggest respect sir for your work, you just are at another level, this not being only creative or ingenious, this is pure art , that only us , people that likes every mechanic artifact considered your work as art 🖼. Thanks 🙏
That’s some amazing stuff seriously a true craftsman and engineer
Es una gozada ver cómo construyes tus proyectos.👌
Mi respeto para tan admirable trabajo , saludos desde México
Great creative work, highly appreciated.
Wow! Absolutely beautiful stunning piece of art/work! I love this channel and look forward to every new video! Now I’m so stoked for the new build. 👍🏼👍🏼
Johnny, I wish I had all the tools and knowledge needed to be able to do what you do and make. Thanks for the video's.
Absolutely superb. The attention to detail and the craft that goes into your work. Im really enjoying the open designs youve used in the last few videos, it looks awesome! Although, it has to be said, your neighbours must love you! Love it! 😂
Thanks for explaining the decision for plastic
That’s amazing dude. Absolutely incredible
You are a very talented man. The gearbox is amazing and works flawlessly. ❤🇨🇦
My cobblers thumbs can only dream of the things you create 👍👍👍
Wow, I need to watch this a few more times to fully understand.
Beautiful work again mate nailed it
Verry nice Done man. Beutiful gearbox you made.
Tu sei un super ingegnere, complimenti.
I can't wait to see how this project turns out
Great build , great work 👍 well done 👏
💫 Super professional job mate 💫
Love all your videos. Intriguing an just cool af
you should really manufacture these, i bet you could get a campaign going for ppl to fund you on making these
That mill is so precise. I was not expecting the gears to be made from billet aluminium.
You have every specialized tool I could ever want. You're living the dream!
Aluminum and brass have one of the highest coefficients of friction when in contact!
Johnny. Nice man. Can't wait for the car
Like I said bro. When you have it in the car, use a Logitech Wheel and shifter with it. Could also throw an FPV cam on it and make your own IRL driving simulator haha
You are the best!!! Thank you!)
Freakin awesome work buddy. Can't wait to see this car.
You are something else. Idek what to say. Can’t wait to see more👌
Always impressed watching your videos
Fantastic - well executed! As I’ve said before, I would love to see at least parts of the design and ”production preparation” process :)
Fantastic job 👍
Sick. It reminds me a lot of the old Emaxx 3906 2-speed gearbox, almost identical in terms of function and appearance, just more gears.
Wow that’s impressive
Well done!. 👍
Get a tumbler to tumble your parts in, the gears would benefit from a more smoother finish particularly. You can fill up the critical (bearing) surfaces with hard wax (either printer wax or casting wax works great as it's more resistant to abrasion and will protect the parts).
Can't wait.you my friend are genius
I’ve said it before, but there is something incredibly mesmerizing about watching a master at their craft.
One of the main things that keep Nitro RC ground vehicles from the greatness of electric, is that these vehicles never have reverse gear.
I’ve built very simple two speed HPI racers, but I’ve always longed for reverse.
🙏
Not sure the brand.
The first machine shown (cutting the white plastic) is called a Lathe.
He appears to be using a CNC type lathe.
(CNC means Computerized Numerical Control and usually requires a separate computer)
The second machine (cutting the thick aluminum and the Brass) is called a “bench top CNC milling machine.” Most are 4 or now 5 axis machines for more elaborate milling. (Cutting)
This one is VERY expensive, you can find them much les expensive.

You could also consider purchasing a metal 3D printer.
Excellent work brother
You may want to consider putting servo horns that have built-in servo savers on the shift servos. This will allow them to put spring tension on the dogs if not perfectly aligned to begin with and will help prevent them from burning themselves up on the physical end stops
Genius 👍🏻
Can you put a laser tach rpm tester on the flywheel to see what rpm each gear is capable of
Cannot wait to see you review the two new toyan engines! The nitro v8 xfactor and the 78cc v8! Very eager to watch you fiddle with them
Can't wait for your mini DCT transmission! Or maybe even a CVT! Nice job 👍
Hi there how’s your day going today my friend have you heard of crypto currency before? Can I enlighten you more on it if you don’t mind doing
Awesome 👍
Add a small steel pin on the dogs (make a hole and press fit the pin) to reinforce it even more
Nice!
I'd love to see a RWD/AWD Mid engine car with a custom transaxle like a Bugatti. Awesome fabrication and design!
This should be taught in schools.
I still maintain that the gearbox would benefit from oil submersion. that coupled with the beefier teeth on the dog gears should help keep the plastic intact
Seems like you and Keith5700 could come up with some pretty interesting projects together...
Very well made, lots of craftsmanship in that. It's a shame those plastic engaging rings don't hold up for too long. Maybe find a way to make them from a carbon fiber? Perhaps milled from a carbon fiber block? Worth a try if they fail again.
Sweet!!
One thing i noticed at 7:46, you need to adjust the endpoints on your shift servos. If you don't they might break.
Try to shift full throttle, will be interesting 🤔
Really good job!!!
WOW!
Hey there nice work You made this gearbox yourself ?
Briliant! Sale to me... I need one!
Nice. Thats cool, can you flat shift it though like a dogbox should be able to do with those delrin dog gears? Or would it just break
As human beings ....we can do some really cool shit.....made respect for this labor of love....
its good !!!
If you continue to have issues with the delrin teeth, you may be able to use annealed brass, or perhaps even annealed aluminum. That should keep it from damaging the gears, while being stronger than delrin. Not a mechanic or an engineer, just had a thought.
nice bruh
I've noticed a lot of nitro rc car enthusiast do this... Peculiar tapping of the throttle when running a car. Is that normal for some reason? Maybe something different about a small nitro engine than my full sized car? It's rare to see smooth throttle operation and I don't know enough about nitro engines to understand why. Thanks! Keep up the incredible work!!
those are good chips on the delrin, what sfm do you run that at? I'm having a hard time running at 200 sfm
BEAUTIFUL!!! Gearing is too high on reverse. ….but you know this already, I’m just here to comment 🤣
How much programming ability do you have with the controls? I wonder if you can program in a throttle interrupt to temporary reduce the power with each shift
That 3 speed gearbox looks like the one that's in tamiyas f 350 high lift
i see that little black nob for reverse gear fork rotate idk if it rotates the axle or it rotates on its thread but double check i would say. it is amazing what you have build curious what the sickness will be the gears? the dogs? or something else?? who knows
What do you think about CVT gearboxes and perhaps making one from scratch?
Could you build a miniature manual clutch some how? It would be amazing to hear these little engines Reving through the gears under load
You are hard worker
Hi there how’s your day going today my friend have you heard of forex trading before? Can I enlighten you more on it if you don’t mind?
do you ever think that in between your awesome builds you could make some vids on how to with a cnc and tutorials for beginners/advance/pro. or just some video of your tought processe about resolving the interesting challanged that you faced in your builds? :P just asking, you allready make such nice video and its plenty enough. i still feel like your knowledge is awesome and if some of us can learn trough your exp's it would be awsome! keep it up! awesome stuff you make mate!
Im getting tamiya 3 Speed Transmission vibes 😂👌
Are you still working on a positive displacement supercharger? That would be the coolest thing ever with these small motors. Everyone has 3d printed turbos but something like a roots style or twin screw supercharger I’ve never seen at this scale.
magnifique
What about pressing a metal rod into the dog tooth to reinforce it?
Did you machine or buy the u-joint coupler(s)?
Great
If you polish your turning tools, you can turn to a near mirror finish
I'm sorry, but you say you are using Delrin (acetal). I can safely say that the meterial you used was definitely not delrin. What you have there is almost definitely HTPE, and judging by how your parting tool almost gummed up while parting, I'd say that its HTPE 1000, (Delrin/Acetal, when machined, creates a fine white powder). Fantastic video though, very interesting! Please keep your videos coming!! Have a Fantastic day👍👍
dog clutch takes a lot of stress for a fraction of a second, but enough to tear off the dog teeth, don't hesitate to put more surface, at least as near as the pocket in your gear, you don't need a lot of play to engage the dog teeth!
or don't make them with polymer as said at the end of the video 🤔🤔
As ALWAYS JohnnyQ90...........I LOVE all your videos!!! I LOVE how You describe EACH STEP within your video's!!! That really makes a difference!!! Can't WAIT to see this beast when it's finally done!!! : >)
Hi there how’s your day going today my friend have you heard of crypto currency before? Can I enlighten you more on it if you don’t mind doing
Looking forward to seeing it in action on a working car.
yoooo
